Student Growth and Academic Achievement is based on state-tested measures known as Student Growth Percentiles (SGPs) or Georgia Department of Education approved district-developed assessments known as Student Performance Goals (SPGs). A teacher’s Student Growth and Academic Achievement score may be comprised of SGPs, SPGs, or a combination of both. For the 2014 – 2015 school year, teachers are required to have a minimum of two growth measures unless they teach the same course for all sections. If an SPG is developed by the district, any teacher who has a section of the course for that SPG must administer the assessment. Therefore, some teachers may have to administer more than two different growth measures. District-developed SPGs are content-specific, contain measurable, grade-level learning objectives, focus on growth in student learning, and align to Academic Knowledge and Skills (AKS), Advanced Placement, or International Baccalaureate standards. Approximately 70-75% of all teachers teach non-state-tested subjects for at least some portion of the instructional day. Therefore, Gwinnett County Public School (GCPS) teachers were integral partners in the development of the SPGs. Through a collaborative process that included the Offices of Curriculum and Instruction and Assessment and GCPS teachers, the 2014 – 2015 assessments have been designed to provide teachers the ability to determine individual student growth for each of their students over the duration of a course. It is important to note that SPGs are designed to measure teachers’ impact on student learning and may not measure all standards for a course; thus, SPGs are not designed to be an indication of student mastery for a course. As a measure of teachers’ impact on student learning, SPGs give educators, school systems, and state leaders an additional means by which to understand, value, and recognize success in the classroom. For the 2014 – 2015 school year, all SPG assessments will be scored through Schoolnet, and rubrics will also be scanned into the platform. School teams will be trained on the printing, scanning, and the reporting functionality of Schoolnet through the PD&E website. Additional support will be provided through Ya’ll Come sessions throughout the month of July and August. The purpose of this manual is to provide a comprehensive resource guide for SPG Contacts and/or Test Coordinators to utilize in the handling, distribution, and administration of the SPG assessments. Due to the importance of this assessment initiative, it is essential that the SPG Contact and/or Test Coordinator read this manual prior to the administration of SPG assessments. There is valuable information within this manual for teachers, and we encourage local schools to share it with their staff. SPG Assessment Manual 3 Gwinnett County Public Schools ASSESSMENT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS Item Writer’s Professional Learning Assessment Development Content Review Final Review Print Proof Review Printing & Distribution Delivery to Local Schools The process of the SPG development for the 2014-2015 school year began after the initial pretest administration in the fall of 2013. Curriculum Directors in conjunction with the Office of Assessment reviewed pre-test data to determine assessments that needed revision and development. Curriculum Directors reached out to content area teachers to participate in training to assist in the writing of the SPGs for the upcoming school year. Teachers participated in fourhours of on-line training which consisted of modules on deconstructing standards, identifying learning targets, Norman Webb’s Depth of Knowledge (DOK), and Universal Design. Additionally, a module was provided to inform teachers of the required state documentation to accompany each SPG. After completing the on-line module training, teachers worked in collaborative groups to identify standards which would be assessed on the SPG and write items based on the learning targets. The items were then formatted into the current assessments. It is important to note that the primary purpose of SPG assessments is to demonstrate the impact teachers have on student growth over the duration of a course. SPGs are not intended to demonstrate student mastery of all the standards in a course; therefore, in most cases, only selected standards are assessed on an SPG. In the spring, the Office of Accountability and Assessment conducted several content review sessions for each of the SPG assessments created. Teachers were invited to attend the reviews sessions to provide recommendations for the improvement of the SPG assessment items. The recommendations were discussed with each curriculum area director. If a recommendation was approved, items were edited. The final phase of the development process includes two additional reviews for the assessment: a Final Review and a Print Proof Review. During the Final Review, each item on the form is read for the following: grammar, usage, and mechanics; spelling errors; alignment to item specifications based on Universal Design; and proper formatting, including page numbers and assessment headings. Using a checklist, items are recorded for edits. After approved edits are completed, the assessment is converted into a PDF version of the assessment and the Print Proof Review occurs. During the Print Proof Review, each item on the assessment is read by a different reviewer for the following: margins shifts, missing characters, or symbols which could occur during the PDF conversion process; clarity of print; clarity of graphics; a final review of item formatting; and a review of the attached resources. Using a checklist, items are recorded for edits. After approved edits are completed, the assessment is sent to the Printing Office where class sets are created and packaged. For the 2014-2015 assessments, teachers were given the opportunity to come to the Instructional Support Center (ISC) during the summer to preview the SPGs and make comments for consideration for the 2015-2016 assessments. SPG Assessment Manual 4 Gwinnett County Public Schools TEACHER CODE OF ETHICS Even though teachers and administrators have greater access to SPG assessments than state assessments, due to the utilization of the SPG assessments for the Teacher Evaluation System, teachers and other educators must abide by the Teacher Code of Ethics to ensure the security of the SPGs and the fidelity of the assessment process. (k) Standard 11: Testing – An educator shall administer state-mandated assessments fairly and ethically. Unethical conduct includes but is not limited to: 1. committing any act that breaches Test Security; and 2. compromising the integrity of the assessment. (4) Reporting: (a) Educators are required to report a breach of one or more of the Standards in the Code of Ethics for Educators as soon as possible but no later than ninety (90) days from the date the educator became aware of an alleged breach unless the law or local procedures require reporting sooner. Educators should be aware of legal requirements and local policies and procedures for reporting unethical conduct. Complaints filed with the Professional Standards Commission must be in writing and must be signed by the complainant (parent, educator, personnel director, superintendent, etc.). (b) The Commission notifies local and state officials of all disciplinary actions. In addition, suspensions and revocations are reported to national officials, including the NASDTEC Clearinghouse. (5) Disciplinary Action: (a) The Professional Standards Commission is authorized to suspend, revoke, or deny certificates, to issue a reprimand or warning, or to monitor the educator’s conduct and performance after an investigation is held and notice and opportunity for a hearing are provided to the certificate holder. Any of the following grounds shall be considered cause for disciplinary action against the holder of a certificate: 1. unethical conduct as outlined in The Code of Ethics for Educators, Standards 1-10 (PSC Rule 505-6-.01); 2. disciplinary action against a certificate in another state on grounds consistent with those specified in the Code of Ethics for Educators, Standards 1-10 (PSC Rule 505-6-.01); 3. order from a court of competent jurisdiction or a request from the Department of Human Resources that the certificate should be suspended or the application for certification should be denied for non-payment of child support (O.C.G.A. §19-628.1 and §19-11-9.3); 4. notification from the Georgia Higher Education Assistance Corporation that the educator is in default and not in satisfactory repayment status on a student loan guaranteed by the Georgia Higher Education Assistance Corporation (O.C.G.A. §20-3-295); SPG Assessment Manual 5 Gwinnett County Public Schools 5. suspension or revocation of any professional license or certificate; 6. violation of any other laws and rules applicable to the profession; and 7. any other good and sufficient cause that renders an educator unfit for employment as an educator (b) An individual whose certificate has been revoked, denied, or suspended may not serve as a volunteer or be employed as an educator, paraprofessional, aide, substitute teacher or in any other position during the period of his or her revocation, suspension or denial for a violation of The Code of Ethics. The superintendent and the superintendent’s designee for certification shall be responsible for assuring that an individual whose certificate has been revoked, denied, or suspended is not employed or serving in any capacity in their district. Both the superintendent and the superintendent’s designee must hold GaPSC certification. Teachers may not review the assessments prior to administration. Assessments should be kept secure until the actual administration. Materials should be counted by both the examiner and another staff member before removing the materials from the secure location. Assessments should not be left in a teacher’s possession overnight with the exception of Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, GAA, and Affective Skills rubrics. Local schools should have a tracking method to record material counts before and after assessment administration. The record of material counts should include, but is not limited to, the following information: date of assessment administration material check out counts (before assessment administration) initials from material counters time of material check out material check in counts (after assessment administration) initials from material counters Examiners must account for all assessment materials BEFORE dismissing students from the testing room. Examiners should remind students to check their answer documents to erase stray marks, darken bubbles, check for double bubbles on the same item, and complete header information before submitting them to the SPG Coordinator for scoring. LOST MATERIALS PROCEDURE If assessments are lost by any school personnel, the following procedure should be completed: 1. The SPG Contact/Test Coordinator completes an anomaly in the Anomaly database. The following documents must be included in the Anomaly: An examiner statement Record of check in-check out of materials Evidence of test security training session Examiner’s signed confidentiality 2. The SPG Contact/Test Coordinator immediately notifies the principal of the school regarding lost test materials. 3. Once the Assessment Office has reviewed the anomaly information and the materials have NOT been recovered, the anomaly will be shared with the school’s HR representative and school Principal. 4. After the anomaly has been provided to HR, the Assessment Office is no longer involved with the incident. SPG Assessment Manual 19 Gwinnett County Public Schools Staff Training Training for school staff on test security, ethics, and proper test administration procedures should take place at least once a year before the SPGs are administered. All staff involved with the handling or administration of SPGs should be trained and complete a Confidentiality Form. Schools may want to consider including teachers, support staff, and office staff in the training. The local school has the option of how and when the training will be provided to school staff. The following are suggestions of how training may be offered: one large training meeting at the beginning of the year training meetings for each SPG administration an Elluminate meeting at the beginning of the year As indicated in the section on the Teacher Code of Ethics, even though there is greater access to these assessments, the Teacher Code of Ethics still applies. Therefore, teachers may not have access to the assessment prior to the administration. While the SPG assessments are in the custody of the teacher, they must be kept secure. Unless otherwise noted, students may not write on the assessment, as these assessments will be reused for future administrations during the school year. Care should be taken in maintaining these assessments so that the quality of the printed copy is acceptable for future administrations. Finally, to maintain security of the assessments, teachers may not review the assessment items with students after the administration is complete. Prohibited Devices Personal cell phones, smartphones, tablets, or other electronic devices are NOT allowed in the testing room at any time during testing. If students use an electronic device to share information regarding an SPG assessment with others, students may face disciplinary actions. New Student Administration: 65% Rule SPG scores are used for students who have been in a school and/or in a teacher’s class for 65% of the duration of a course. Therefore, rolling make-up assessments will be administered as students are enrolled in the school. If you have a student who enters the school from another Gwinnett County Public school, it is best to wait 24 hours until the nightly SASI rollover to obtain scores from the student’s previous school, as any SPG assessments scanned into Schoolnet at the previous school will follow the student to the new school. Otherwise, if a student is from another county or state, the student must be administered an SPG for all the SPG courses for which the student is enrolled. Schools may access a report through Schoolnet to assist with finding students who have not taken the assessments. The local school will determine their process for the execution of rolling make-ups based on the following guidelines: • SPGs must be administered by a certified employee. • SPGs should be administered bi-monthly, but it is recommended that it be weekly, especially for 9-week and semester courses. SPG Assessment Manual 20 Gwinnett County Public Schools Use the following dates to determine how long make-ups will be required. If a student enters your course after the make-up window has closed, this student does not need to take the SPG pre-assessment. 9-Week Courses HS Block ½ Credit Courses Semester Courses Pre Administration Window 65% Cut-off Date for Test Administration Post Administration Window 8/05/2014 – 8/26/2014 8/26/2014 9/29/2014 - 10/08/2014 10/09/2014 – 10/30/2014 10/30/2014 12/08/2014 – 12/19/2014 1/06/2015 – 1/20/2015 1/28/2015 2/27/2015 – 3/12/2015 3/16/2015 – 3/30/2015 4/03/2015 5/04/2015 – 5/18/2015 8/05/2014 – 8/26/2014 8/26/2014 9/29/2014 - 10/08/2014 10/09/2014 – 10/30/2014 10/30/2014 12/08/2014 – 12/19/2014 1/06/2015 – 1/20/2015 1/28/2015 2/27/2015 – 3/12/2015 3/16/2015 – 3/30/2015 4/03/2015 5/04/2015 – 5/18/2015 8/05/2014 – 8/28/2014 9/16/2014 12/01/2014 – 12/19/2014 1/06/2015 – 1/20/2015 2/18/2015 4/20/2015 – 5/18/2015 8/5/2014 – 8/28/2014 11/03/2014 4/20/2015 – 5/18/2015 Year-long courses General Administration Guidance READ ALOUD GUIDANCE FOR ALL 1ST AND 2ND GRADE STUDENTS All 1st and 2nd grade students will have the test read aloud for all questions and answer choices for all content areas. Teacher scripts have been developed to assist with this task. The Examiner may not provide any assistance to the student regarding the meaning of words, the intent of test items, or the student’s responses to test items. The Examiner may not rearrange the order of text in any way (e.g., reading the questions or answer choices before reading the passage). Teacher scripts will indicate which passages on the 1st and 2nd grade ELA assessment will not to be read to the students. The student must be instructed to follow along in his or her test booklet as the Examiner reads the text aloud. Please see the SPG Coordinator for a script if you do not have one with your provided materials. SPG Assessment Manual 21 Gwinnett County Public Schools TRANSFERRING ANSWERS TO ANSWER DOCUMENTS FOR 1ST AND 2ND GRADE STUDENTS First and second grade students may write in the Test Booklets, and then teachers or other school personnel, will transfer students’ answers from the Test Booklets to the students’ Answer Documents. Local schools will determine how this transfer process will occur. Great care should be taken to ensure the accuracy of the transfer. It is best practice to have one person check behind the initial scribe to ensure that all answers were transferred as recorded by the students. BRAILLE ADMINISTRATION SPG Coordinators at the school should provide a regular copy of the SPG assessment to the Visual Impaired teacher along with the Braille copy. This regular copy is for use as a reference only during the assessment administration. If any issues with the braille are noticed (i.e. typo), please inform the Assessment Office. Students taking the Braille version of a SPG assessment should have their answers recorded as specified in their IEP. Student answers should be recorded exactly as students have indicated or dictated. When a Braille student responds by pointing to the answers or giving a verbal response, the examiner is permitted during the course of test administration to fill in student responses on the answer document. Under no circumstances should a student’s answer be altered or edited—to do so is a direct violation of test security. LARGE PRINT ADMINISTRATION Students who use a large-print version are typically prescribed a testing accommodation to record their answers directly in the Large-Print test book by circling the letters for their selected answers. Examiners are permitted during the course of the administration to fill in student responses on the answer document. Under no circumstances should a student’s answer be altered or edited—to do so is a direct violation of test security. English Language Learner (ELL) Guidance for Administration Assessment of ELs at ACCESS/W-APT levels 1.0 through level 2.9 provides little meaningful information. ELs at those levels in grades 1 - 12 should not be administered the SPGs except in unusual circumstances (e.g. widely discrepant domain scores). EL students in grades 1 - 12 who have an ACCESS Literacy Score of 3.0 or above should be administered SPGs with same accommodations provided in the student’s Test Participation Plan (TPP). SPG Assessment Manual 22 Gwinnett County Public Schools Special Education and 504 Guidance for Administration Special Ed students should participate in the SPG Assessments with the same accommodations for any classroom assessment which are described in the student’s Individual Educational Program (IEP/Modification Intervention Plan). Students who have a 504 should be afforded any accommodation for classroom assessments as reflected in their annual 504 Plan. Use of Substitutes in Administrations SPG assessments must be administered by certified staff. If the substitute holds a current Georgia certificate, then they can administer the assessment. However, a substitute without this certification would not be able to administer SPG assessments. To add to the requirement, any personnel serving as an examiner handling materials would also need general assessment administration security training. It would not be advisable for a SPG Contact/Test Coordinator to exclude the discussion about administration with certified subs and simply give the sub the assessment. Finally, signed confidentiality forms are also required for any individual administering the assessments. Use of Proctors in Administrations When 35 or more students are assessed in one room, the assistance of a proctor is required. Any professional staff member may serve as a proctor. If students are tested in groups of less than 35, a proctor is highly recommended. Proctors may help in distributing and collecting materials, assisting students with coding on the Answer Document, observing students from different points in the room while materials are being administered, and may answer students’ questions concerning the assessment directions. To prevent the neglect of any students in large groups, proctors may be assigned to specific areas of the room during the administration. Proctors must not read or explain any content on the assessment or coach students in any way. Administration Recommendations While preparing for an assessment administration, the following steps are recommended: BEFORE THE ADMINISTRATION IEP, TPP, IAP, or 504 accommodations for SPG assessments should be consistent with what is used in classroom instruction and assessments on a regular basis. The appropriate testing setting should be reserved and communicated to all involved parties. For example, consider reserving the cafeteria for the administration of Physical Education assessments which prevents students completing the assessment on the gym floor. Such changes should be communicated with the front office staff in case a student location is needed. If applicable, work with LSTC/TST and secure the proper audio/visual equipment. If applicable, test all audio/visual equipment before administration to make sure equipment is in proper working order. This is an imperative step when administering an assessment with an audio/visual Disc. SPG Assessment Manual 23 Gwinnett County Public Schools As you begin creating your school schedule for the administration of the SPG assessment, remember local schools may decide when an assessment is given within the published administration window. Therefore, if a student needs to take an assessment out of sequence due to a family emergency, illness, etc., it is permissible to administer the assessment as needed. If you have any questions, please contact the SPG Team through Lotus Notes. Host an Examiner’s/Proctor’s training meeting. Prepare test materials for distribution. Create a sign-out/sign-in system for assessment material accountability. DURING THE ADMINISTRATION Ensure examiners are actively monitoring the status of students in the classroom during administration by “walking with a purpose.” Examiners may not clarify questions or provide answers. Examiners may clarify directions for the assessment. To minimize distractions, it is important to maintain a quiet environment. Before student dismissal: o Examiners should remind students to check their answer documents to ensure bubbles are bold, stray marks are removed, and there are no double bubbles. o Examiners must account for all administration materials (i.e., forms, answer sheets, scratch paper, etc.). AFTER THE ADMINISTRATION Collect and make sure ALL student test booklets are accounted for. Collect and make sure ALL supplementary materials (Teacher Scripts, Audio/Visual Discs, scratch paper, etc.) are accounted for. Return any braille materials to the Test Distribution Center. See pg. 30 for procedure. Scratch Paper Guidance Since the majority student test booklets should not be marked in, the use of scratch paper is permitted during the administration for any SPG assessment. Plain white paper should be used as scratch paper. Students should be instructed to print their names in the upper right-hand corner of their scratch paper. If necessary, students may ask for more scratch paper during the administration. The scratch paper can be used to answer any items on the assessment; however, students should be reminded to record all answers on their answer sheet. All scratch paper must be accounted for and returned to the SPG Coordinator with the other test materials. After collection, the scratch paper can be recycled with other recycled materials. SPG Assessment Manual 24 Gwinnett County Public Schools Make-up Procedures during Administration During the pre-test window, students who were absent during the main administration of an SPG assessment must participate in a make-up session. Students may be given the assessment any time during the administration period, but it is best practice to administer the assessment as soon as possible. It is important to ensure that all students in the building have taken the SPG assessment for a course up to the 65% cut-off date. During the post-test window, all students will take the assessment, even if they were not at the school in the beginning of the year. Since there will not be a pre and post score for the student, he or she will not count towards the Teacher’s Effectiveness score; however, this student may count for the Leader Effectiveness Measure if the student was enrolled for 65% of the year in the school. Trailer Course Guidelines SPG assessments will not be used in trailer courses during the 2014-2015 school year. SPG Assessment Manual 25 Gwinnett County Public Schools ASSESSMENT MATERIAL PROCEDURES Ordering Materials are available for ordering according to the yearly calendar. Due to the volume of assessment materials, the materials will arrive at the local school stacked on a packing skid and wrapped in green cellophane. The materials will be placed in or near the front office. SPG Assessment Manual 27 Gwinnett County Public Schools All materials should be signed in by an administrative staff member and stored in the secured testing room. Within 48 hours after scheduled delivery date of assessments (or as soon as possible), confirm the materials ordered were received. SPG assessments are not “receipts verified” in the Requisition System; however, SPG/Test Coordinators should still count materials to ensure that schools received what was ordered. Local schools can refer to the Requisition System to compare received materials with ordered materials. Notify the SPG Team of any discrepancies in the order. As a recommendation, if a school intends to send their yearlong assessments back to the Test Distribution Center for storage until March, schools may want to consider keeping the boxes the materials arrive in for packing. Teacher Resources Teacher resources, such as formula sheets, will be included as part of the student test booklet. These resources are provided to students to assist them with items on the assessment. If applicable, the direction section of each test booklet will also provide information regarding the use of a calculator. If additional resources are needed, please check the Appendix Section of this manual for sheets which may be copied. SPG Coordinators should only provide resources to examiners based on the specific requirements of the course. As an example, the Physics I formula sheet should only be used with the Physics I assessment and not a different assessment. In some instances, the assessment will have an audio/visual disc as part of the administration materials (See pgs. 16 – 18). This audio/visual disc will contain PowerPoint presentations which must be used during the administration. If applicable, each examiner should have access to a disc during administration, and this disc should be checked out and checked in according to the local school security process. As a reminder, examiners should test all audio/visual equipment before administration to make sure equipment is in proper working order. This is an imperative step when administering an assessment with an audio/visual disc. Examiners should play the recording on the PowerPoints a minimum of two times. Please contact the SPG Team if additional copies of the audio/visual disc are needed. For students in 1st and 2nd grade, specific teacher scripts are provided with each assessment. During pre and post administrations, examiners should follow the guidance provided in the “Special Administration Information - Read Aloud” section of this manual when using the teacher scripts. Teacher scripts are considered secure test materials and should be checked in and checked out according to the local school procedures. In some instances, the assessment will have a language translation document as part of the administration materials. Each examiner should have access to this document during administration, and the language translation document should be checked out and checked in according to the local school security process. SPG Assessment Manual 28 Gwinnett County Public Schools Assessment Copy Guidelines Should additional emergency paper materials be needed, the following procedures should be followed: Local schools have the option of creating additional copies at the local school, with approval from the Assessment Office. When creating additional copies, the copy should remain the standard size (8 ½” x 11”) and not reduced to save paper. To ensure proper collection, any newly created copies should be added to the count for distribution. If large print materials are copied, take one of the test received and following the these directions: Copy the form using 129% enlargement setting of the copier 11" x 17" paper should be used in the process The bottom 2" of the document should be cut off before presenting the large print form to the student. To ensure proper collection, any new large print copies should be added to the count for distribution. Table of Specifications (Blueprint Information) The Office of Accountability & Assessment will release SPG assessment Table of Specifications (blueprints) for all operational SPG assessments which will be used during the 2014 -2015 school year. These will be found in Schoolnet under Resources. Tables of Specifications are being released to schools to provide teachers and administrators with general information about the content of each SPG Assessment. The Table of Specification can be used to become familiar with the level of rigor at which included standards will be assessed. The Table of Specifications are NOT be used in place of instructional calendars or pacing guides Assessment Disposal/Packing At the end of each administration, assessment materials should be accounted for and disposed in the following manner: QUARTERLY & BLOCK ADMINISTRATIONS Schools should keep all assessment materials (i.e., student test booklets, scripts, audio/visual discs, etc.) to be used throughout the school year. After the final administration is completed, schools will order green totes, and the assessments will be collected and shredded. The Assessment Office will provide a survey in which to order green totes in December and May. A reminder will be sent to schools through the Assessment Weekly Update to order totes. SPG Assessment Manual 29 Gwinnett County Public Schools SEMESTER ADMINISTRATIONS Schools should keep all assessment materials (i.e., student test booklets, scripts, audio/visual discs, etc.) to be used throughout the semester. After the final administration is completed, schools will order green totes, and the assessments will be collected and shredded. The Assessment Office will provide a survey in which to order green totes in December and May. A reminder will be sent to schools through the Assessment Weekly Update to order totes. YEAR-LONG ADMINISTRATIONS After November 3, schools will have a choice as to the storage of the SPGs. Schools should pack up all assessment materials (i.e., student test booklets, scripts, audio/visual Discs, etc.) into classroom sets. Large envelopes could be used to pack up the materials. We recommend boxes be packed by grade level/subject/course for easy unpacking later in the school year. Boxes should also be full, not over packed and not under packed. These boxes may be stored at the local school, or they may be sent to the Test Distribution Center (TDC) for storage. The boxes will be organized on a pallet at the TDC. Materials will be redelivered to schools in late March for the post administration. After the final administration is completed, schools will order green totes, and the assessments will be collected and shredded. The Assessment Office will provide a survey in which to order green totes in May. A reminder will be sent to schools through the Assessment Weekly update to order totes. END-OF-SCHOOL-YEAR PROCEDURES FOR ALL ASSESSMENTS Student test booklets will be collected and returned in green totes. Audio/video discs will be collected and placed in a sturdy box. Label the box as follows: ISC- Assessment Office: SPG Materials ANSWER DOCUMENTS After scanning, answer documents should be stored by teacher and class. Every effort should be made to keep these documents in pristine condition. Further instructions on the handling of Answer Documents will be sent to schools. Braille Form Return Process After any administration, all Braille SPG assessments should be sent back to the Test Distribution Center for storage. Care should be taken when packing up the materials as these documents should be packed in a vertical position and not in a horizontal position. A red tote will be used to transport the documents. After packing, SPG Coordinators will need to complete a test tote return form and contact the Assessment Office for a pick up date. If an SPG Coordinator has any questions regarding the procedures for returning red totes, they are encouraged to ask the local school Test Coordinator for assistance. SPG Assessment Manual 30 Gwinnett County Public Schools Grade Percentage Information As a reminder, pre-tests are NOT graded; however, the scores should be entered into the PinPoint gradebook under the District Assessment tab. The following table provides the weight percentages to use for the post-test ONLY. The SPG post-test will be entered into both the gradebook and under the District Assessment tab. Rubric scores will be entered into the gradebook as Raw Scores (Total Points) for both the preand posttests. Elementary School 1% Middle School 2% High School 2% SPG Feedback Process This year schools will have a database to use to submit feedback and concerns about assessment items to the Offices of Curriculum and Instruction and Assessment. Examples of concerns for this database would be incorrect key, standard alignment issues, graphics issues, and spelling and grammar issues. FEEDBACK PROCESS: Teacher informs SPG Contact/Test Coordinator that there is an issue with an item, etc. SPG Contact/Test Coordinator enters information into the database. Based on the content area chosen, the concern would go to both the Office of Curriculum and Instruction and Office of Assessment. An automated response will go to the SPG Contact/Test Coordinator and teacher thanking them for the submission. Depending on the concern, either the Curriculum Director or Assessment Office representative would respond and enter Action Taken in the database. The response would be sent back to the SPG Contact/Test Coordinator, and the teacher would be alerted that there was a response sent back. The SPG Contact/Test Coordinator and teacher will have access to the feedback.
