This is a milestone for Cycle Sport Pendle together with other local East Lancashire cycling clubs and organisations and Pendle Council, following years of planning to bring this fantastic new circuit into use. For the YouthDE race it will be 6 shortened laps All races, except the YouthDE race will have primes 2 prime laps per race. Riders must finish the race to qualify for a prime prize. v1.1 2 Race start times will not be brought forward from the BC published time under any circumstances. Racing will be run under the technical regulations of the British Cycling Federation. PRIZES There will be non-cash prizes for the Youth DE race There will be cash prizes for the all other races. Prizes for the ladies race, the Youth AB girls races are sponsored by BounceBack Safety Surfaces Ltd, with separate prizes for Youth A and B girls and the girls in the Youth C race. The prime winners will receive £5 per prime lap. This will be for each race, not each category in each race. RACE VENUE DIRECTIONS M65 junction 13. Postcode for satnav BB9 8PU PARKING Access to the parking is via Bullholme playing fields, off Wilton Street Barrowford, BB9 8PU Traffic will be directed through the Bullhome car park area, under the Motorway bridge onto the grassed area at the other side of the motorway. CLUB GAZEBO AREA There will be an area set aside for clubs to set up gazebos. Please do not use other areas unless advised by a an official or marshal. TOILET AND SHOWER FACILITIES Toilet facilities will be in the new CSP club rooms, over the canal bridge from the cycling circuit. REFRESHMENTS CSP will be providing refreshments. SAFETY AND CONDUCT Safety of riders, helpers, officials, spectators and the general public is important to us. Please help us keep the event as safe as possible. v1.1 3 AROUND THE CIRCUIT We want to maintain a good relationship with the locals and keep the area safe at all time: Riders and helpers please wear helmets at all times when riding a bike, both on the circuit and outside of the circuit. It is a public right of way between the circuit and car park, and between the circuit and the club room. Please be courteous to pedestrians and the general public and ride your bikes slowly. Please do not play with footballs or any other type of ball on the pitches to the side of the circuit. Footballs and cycle races do not mix! If you are a dog owner, please keep your dog on a lead at all times. Dog are not permitted within the circuit fenced off area. ON THE CIRCUIT The circuit is fenced off. We ask that only riders, officials, first aid, official photographers, and authorised helpers (in the pits) are inside the fenced area when a race is underway. If there is an incident during the race our marshals are briefed to deal with it in the first instance. Please do not run onto the circuit, you may walk if asked by officials to attend an incident. Please do not leave bikes and equipment inside the circuit area other than in the pits. RACE CONDUCT - BRITISH CYCLING RACE SMART Riders should be aware of the British Cycling Race Smart initiative. Please take safety seriously so that we can all have an excellent day’s racing. Riders are reminded that the following infringements may result in a fine, disqualification or relegation: Not being in full control of their machine (hands off or drooping on handlebars) Littering – gel wrappers, energy bar wrappers, please dispose of your rubbish appropriately Warming up on the course during another race Calls of Nature on the circuit area - Please use the toilets provided Passing up of bottles or food during a race. Bad language or physical abuse to other riders, race officials, marshals, volunteers, signing on team or general public Poor behaviour will not be tolerated by the Chief Commissaire and other officials. Poor behaviour usually leads to unsafe situations which we want to avoid. SIGNING ON AND RACE NUMBERS SIGN ON Riders will be required to sign on before competing. v1.1 Signing on for the youth races will open at 9.00am. Signing on for the afternoon senior races will open at 12pm. Signing on for all races will close twenty minutes before the start of each race. 4 A valid and legible race licence must be presented (this means your BC card with a valid racing licence), otherwise you will be required to purchase a day license. No exceptions! For the Regional B and Women’s races, riders not presenting a valid British Cycling racing licence may purchase a single day event licence (cost £10 ride members and non-member, £10 bronze member, £5 silver/gold member), half price for Juniors. For the National B race, non-presentation of a valid racing licence with a current membership card will result in a £10 fine. Youth riders riding in a race of a higher category MUST present a valid dispensation card with their race licence. Racing licences will be retained until numbers have been returned. Please do not forget your British Cycling 2014 Race Licence. RACE NUMBERS Riders will be issued with two numbers which they must wear unfolded and clearly visible as follows: GEAR CHECKS Youth and junior riders will have their gears checked before signing on. It is important that riders arrive with machines setup on the correct gears and tyres at race pressure. The first three riders in each youth race must report to the Commissaire for a post-race gear check. Failure to do so will result in a penalty. Category Gear Roll Back Restriction Youth A 6.93 metres Youth B 6.45 metres Youth C 6.05 metres Youth D 5.40 metres Youth E 5.10 metres Junior 7.93 metres IMPORTANT: The roll back distances are an absolute maximum for each category, there is no leeway. Gear table chain ring and sprocket combinations may be within the roll out distance, but may fail due to tyre size. v1.1 5 PRE-RACE RIDER PROCEDURE You will enter the circuit using the gate opposite the finish line. Please be at the entry gate at least 10 minutes prior to the start of your race. As the previous race finishes, you will go across the circuit to the start area. Please assemble about 20 metres back from the start line. RACE PROCEURES START Riders will be asked to line up in rows, maximum 6 bikes to a row. Lower category riders will be asked to go towards the back. There will be no overlapping of bikes between rows. ONE helper is permitted to assist each rider at the start line to take clothing etc. Helpers must vacate the circuit or go to the pit area before the race is started. LAPPED RIDERS It is not our intention to withdraw lapped riders. Individual lapped riders may be asked by a Commissaire to retire from the race for safety reasons. Riders lapped who continue in the race must not aid the leading group in any way. LEADING GROUP LAPPING THE PELOTON In the event of a leading group of riders lapping the main peloton: The main peloton being lapped must follow the instructions of the commissaires. The lapped peloton will be asked to neutralise to allow the leading group free passage past. Riders lapped may continue with the race but must not aid the leading group in any way. RETIREMENTS Should any rider wish to retire from the race, they must report to a Commissaire or finishing judge immediately in the pit area. Do not ride in the opposite direction to the race. CRASHES AND MECHANICALS Riders will be allowed one lap out for crashes or genuine mechanical failure or punctures (not loose components or poor maintenance). Riders: v1.1 Must report to the pit area to take their lap out. Complete the course to the pits; any rider taking a short cut back to the pit area will be penalised. Must get back to the pits and ready to go before the bunch they were with passes the pits. Taking longer than a lap to re-join the race from the pit must chase. The rider will be credited with only one lap out if applicable. Taking a lap out must rejoin the race before 5 laps to go on the lapboard. Any repairs to bicycles must be undertaken in the pits, not out on the course! 6 PITS The pit area will be located adjacent to the judging area before the finish line. Only ONE helper for each rider will be allowed in the pit area. Helpers must stay within the defined area, and not close to the circuit. POST RACE RIDER PROCEDURE As the programme is tight, we ask that you help us with a quick change from one race to the next: The first three riders of the youth races to report for gear check. When finishing a race, riders go round the Ramsbottom Loop and leave the circuit at the gate as directed by a marshal. Please return race numbers IMMEDIATELY to sign on, they will be needed for later races. RESULTS PUBLICATION Please do not hound the judges for results, they will be busy with the next race. We expect to publish full results later in the evening. Results will be published initially on the Cycle Sport Pendle website and Facebook page. Results will be sent to British Cycling for publication on their website and update of rider points. RESULT QUERIES Queries will only be accepted within 24 hours of initial publication of the results. The judge’s decision will be final. PODIUM PRESENTATIONS If time permits: v1.1 Presentation of the youth race podiums (top 3) will take place before commencing the senior races. Presentation of the ladies race podiums will take place after the ladies race at approximately 1:45pm Presentation of the men’s senior race podiums will take place immediately after the final senior race at approximately 5:15pm. 7 SPONSORS A huge thanks to our local sponsors for today’s event, please take a look at what they do.
