Purpose This Quality Manual is the top tier of New Chapel Electronics’ documentation system, giving an overview of, and guidance to, the Quality Management System. 1.2. About New Chapel Electronics Limited Working with industry standard CAD systems, dedicated design resources and prototyping facilities coupled with our strong technical expertise New Chapel Electronics can provide all the necessary support to ensure custom engineered solutions, thereby reducing customer development time, costs and risks. NCE have the necessary manufacturing facilities to produce custom designed cable harnesses and accessories/ ancillary parts either using New Chapel Electronics design or customer specified requirements. NCE are totally committed to providing customers with high levels of service, cost effectiveness, quality and innovative solutions in interconnection products making it the ideal first choice supply partner. We operate by setting and deploying clear business objectives and performance. The Management Team regularly reviews the achievement against the objectives and targets, and seeks to continually improve the effectiveness of the processes to enhance business performance and customer satisfaction. Our objective is to achieve customer satisfaction through defect prevention by adopting the Total Quality principals within the business. The health and well being of our employees, industrial safety, working environment and care of the customer/end-user/community are prime considerations in our work-place design. We aim to satisfy the requirements of the customer and the business by developing an environment of partnership through communication, involvement, development, and the motivation of our employees. 1.3. History New Chapel Electronics Limited was founded in 1978 near Fairford, Gloucestershire. The business then moved to a small trading estate in Fairford where the company expanded into 3 business units. The company then moved to its current location at London Road Fairford in 1986. The business changed hands in 1998 with a management buy in/ buy out using 3i as a venture capitalist. Quality Management System This Quality Manual is a statement of New Chapel Electronics Limited responsibilities, processes, procedures and controls which are implemented and maintained so as to conform to the requirements of AS/EN 9100, ISO 9001 and DAOS. This Quality Manual promotes the adoption of a process approach when developing, implementing and improving the effectiveness of a quality management system, to enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements. For New Chapel Electronics Limited to function effectively, it has identified and manages numerous linked activities. Activities using resources are managed in order to enable the transformation of inputs into outputs, and are considered as processes. The system is governed using a process-based quality management system, and illustrates the process linkages at all levels within the company. Monitoring of customer satisfaction requires the evaluation of information relating to customer perception as to whether New Chapel Electronics Limited has met the customer requirements. The process interaction model (Section 10) covers all the requirements of this Quality Manual, and leads you through details of each process and is the route map to guide you through the process. 5.1. Management Processes The management processes set clear measurable objectives starting with the development of the Business Plan, Business Objectives and Quality Policy, and the subsequent deployment of the policy through the use of Key Performance Indicators. Key to this process is understanding and meeting the needs of the customer, thus ensuring that Customer Satisfaction is understood within the company and is constantly monitored and reviewed. The management team reviews this process through monthly operations meetings; this process is further supported by annual management reviews, which review the effectiveness of the system meeting the business goals of customer satisfaction The management team also actively supports and promotes continuous improvement activity within the business, through Management driven improvement programmes using the ADS SC21 model. The Management Team have appointed a member of management (Quality Assurance Manager) who, irrespective of other responsibilities, has responsibility and authority that includes: a) Ensuring that processes needed for the quality management system are established, implemented and maintained b) Reporting to top management on the performance of the quality management system and any need for improvement c) Ensuring the promotion of awareness of customer requirements throughout New Chapel Electronics Limited d) The organisational freedom and unrestricted access to Top Management to resolve quality management issues. Customers and regulatory authority representatives will be given access to the management system and documentation as required. This includes any applicable records available. Resource management New Chapel Electronics Limited shall determine and provide the resources needed: a) To implement and maintain the quality management system and continually improve its effectiveness b) To enhance customer satisfaction by meeting customer requirements The organisation structure defines how resources are allocated to meet these needs. This includes the provision of training for personnel performing work affecting product quality, who shall be competent on the basis of appropriate education, training, skills and experience. New Chapel Electronics Limited shall: a) Determine the necessary competence for personnel performing work affecting product quality, b) Provide training or take other actions to satisfy these needs, c) Evaluate the effectiveness of the actions taken, d) Ensure that its personnel are aware of the relevance and importance of their activities and how they contribute to the achievement of the quality objectives, and e) Maintain appropriate records of education, training, skills and experience Infrastructure New Chapel Electronics Limited shall determine, provide and maintain the infrastructure needed to achieve conformity to product requirements. Infrastructure includes, as applicable: a) Buildings, workspace and associated utilities, b) Process equipment (both hardware and software), and c) Supporting services (such as transport or communication). This will include the generation and maintenance of contingency plans required to maintain continuity within the business.
