The Merlion Awards serve to honour outstanding new designs and products in the field of security. Underlining the importance of innovation, the Awards give well-deserving companies the accolades of excellence and pride of place to showcase their exemplary products at the exhibition. The Awards are divided into four (4) categories, Surveillance Camera; Access Control; Alarm Systems and Mobility Technology, where awards are given to outstanding participants. Judged by a distinguished panel comprising of industry experts from academia and independent bodies, the Awards are recognition of the highest standards of product innovation excellence in the ASEAN region and beyond. AWARDS CREATE EFFECTIVE PUBLICITY FOR YOU Ownership of the prestigious Awards gives immediate prominence to your product and serves as a testimony of your company’s innovative edge. This will be highlighted through: • Prototype and / or photo displays of your innovative design and product to a quality trade audience. • Exclusive post-event profiling of the winners in the Safety & Security Asia 2014’s publicity portals. • Use of the Merlion Awards logo on your promotional materials and corporate literature. • Presentation of Awards during the Opening Ceremony. • *NEW – Awards Live Display where visitors can experience for themselves the functions of your product. ENTRY CRITERIA All exhibitors of Safety & Security Asia 2014 are eligible to submit their entries for the Awards. All entries must be made on the Official Entry Form. An administrative fee of SGD$53.50 (inclusive of GST) is payable for each entry submitted. Page 2 of 5 JUDGING CRITERIA The judges will consider the following criteria for excellence in each of the categories: • • • • • • Product innovation Design Benefits to consumers User-friendliness of product Significance of Unique feature *On-site Demonstration and Judging (26th Aug, 4pm) * This is to ensure that the product is functioning according to the product description. * Demonstration and/or videos are required to be submitted together with this manual. * Results will be announced during Opening Ceremony on 27th Aug 2014. SCORING SYSTEM Awards will be given to all outstanding products with a score of 90 and above out of 100 marks. THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRIES 1. Keep literature concise and simple Ensure the write-up on your product is free of excessive technical jargon. Have supporting brochures, photographs or videos (no longer than 5min). 2. Submit your entries in good time The deadline is Monday, 20 July 2014. Make sure you submit five (5) sets of your write-up for each entry. There is no limit to the number of entries you can submit per category. 3. Ensure your product is accredited Your submitted product must receive regulatory approval from the relevant authorities. 4. Product must be functional and ready for demonstration and judging in Exhibition hall by 26th Aug, 4pm. The product and in-charge personnel must be ready at the booth by 4pm for the judge’s visit. 5. Standby an additional set of functioning product(s) for display purposes. TERMS AND CONDITIONS  Participants are requested to read all Terms & Conditions carefully as it will be binding at all times.  Participants are reminded to submit their work on time as any work submitted after the deadline will not be entertained.  Only Exhibitors of Safety & Security Asia 2014 are eligible for participation in the Merlion Awards.  Organizers and supporting bodies are not eligible to participate in the Merlion Awards.  The judges' decisions are final. No correspondence will be entertained.  Organizers reserve the rights to change and appoint judges on the panel.  Organizers reserve the rights to amend all Terms & Conditions without prior notice.  Organizers reserve the rights to disqualify any entries that are found to be ineligible or misrepresented.  Organizers will not be held liable for any loss, injury or death resulting from any of the processes of the Merlion Awards.  Organizers will not be held responsible for any lost, late, mutilated, misrouted, incomplete, illegible or altered entries.  Exhibitors are solely responsible for the legality of their exhibits and inventions.  Entries must be submitted on Official Entry Forms.  Results will be released on 27 Aug 2014. Winners will be notified at Opening Ceremony.  The Merlion Awards do not imply any warranty that the product is safe or superior, nor that it performs technically or functions in a satisfactory fashion. It is only the opinion of the judges that the product possesses a significant innovative value.  Winners are required to display their award-winning product both at their booth at Safety & Security Asia 2014 and at the Awards Live Display.  All information provided by the participants will be kept and treated with the strictest confidence.
