Introduction
In our previous session we looked at HEROD in the context of us becoming heroic in our
SONSHIP with our Father in heaven.
To set the stage herewith the “word” HEROD in perspective:
G2264
Mat 2:3 WhenG1161 Herod

G191
walk), had heard
these things, he was troubled,G5015 andG2532 allG3956 JerusalemG2414
(founded peaceful) withG3326 him.G846
To understand what is meant by this verse it is necessary for us to define what is meant with
the word HEROD in this verse. HEROD literally means:
1)
2)
3)
Heroic. If the WORD is the truth, then change accordingly;
to have a personal view of the WORD: - appearance, fashion, shape, sight;
to know (through perception) the WORD: - be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell),
consider, (have) known (-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand.
To understand it is necessary to hear (in various senses) by:
ii.
Head what is said: - give (in the) audience (of), come (to the ears),
Equity: ([shall]) hear (-er, -ken), be noised,
iii.
Apply: be reported of (have your own testimony), and
i.
iv. undeRstand.
4) To be
5)
obedient by watching over the WORD: - appear, look, see, shew self;
To discern clearly (physically or mentally) by doing the WORD; To be able to
discern clearly it must stir or agitate (roil water): - trouble you which literally means:
a) To move; to change place in any manner.
b) To agitate; to bring into debate (To discuss; to debate; to
controvert; as, to agitate a question).
c) To incite to action; to instigate; to prompt; and
d) To excite; to raise; to put into motion.
This manual will help us to gain understanding how we can apply the WORD of God by
looking at what is said in Proverbs 2 under the following headings:
 Receiving the WORD
 Attend to Wisdom in WORD
 Cry after the knowledge of the WORD; and
Apply the WORD of God
2
 Seeking after Wisdom as a treasure.
Proverbs 2 shows also what fruit will be generated if the above is applied.
Love the WORD of God. It contains WISDOM that is more precious than gold or silver….
1. Receive the Word of God
Pro 2:1 My son, if you will receive my words and hide my commandments with you,

Accepting the Word of God in “faith” will give you a powerful experience of the nature of God. This experience
will cause you to leave everything else and pursue your Saviour which leads to the next point;
ii.
Leaving everything else will make you a servant of the Most High and being a servant you will bring,
send for, obtain (NKJV) or buy (1 Ti 3:13 KJV) the mysteries of God;
iii.
iv.
Choose to Infold (X many, mingle, place, reserve, seize, win) the mysteries of God by;
Use(-ing) them.
This will cause you to
2. Attend to wisdom and apply your heart to understanding
Pro 2:2 so that you attend to wisdom, you shall extend your heart to understanding;
To attend to wisdom and to apply your heart to understanding is to:
i.
Attend (To go with, or accompany, as a companion, minister or servant);
As a servant God will teach you the mysteries of His creation (1Ti 3:13);ii.
Because you know there is danger you will cause YOURSELF to:

o
hear (-ken), give heed ; and
incline, decline, cause to yield to
caution; care; watch for danger. This caution and care will cause you to
iii.
iv.
mark your ways well, and have regard to look towards;
to point or be directed to wisdom and understanding and will cause you to cry
after knowledge and understanding.
From the above:
Apply the WORD of God

o
o
o
we can be certain that the life is made up out of mysterious events as confirmed in
1Ti 3: 16; And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness
We also know these events are many times VERY dangerous.
In yielding to WISDOM you will find the WORD be unfolded for you.
Causing you to – MORE and MORE as the LOVE for your SAVIOUR rise within you to
3. Cry after knowledge and lift up your voice for
understanding
Pro 2:3 yea, if you cry after knowledge and lift up your voice for understanding (Pro

ii.
read;
iii.
iv.
v.
vi.
(give) name;
Be doubtless (faith);
Yield yourself to the WORD; and then to
Apply it.
Because you came to an understanding of who you are in Christ you will seek wisdom as a
treasure.
4. Seek for wisdom as a treasure
Pro 2:4 if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures (a secret
storehouse),

righteous.

be rooted out of it.
Eph 4:6 one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in you all.
Summary
Believing and DOING the WORD of God stand between you and your greatest LIFE adventure:
L = Love
I = I: To be me, I with sincerity and to know I am adopted
F = Freedom from slavery
E = Eternal security
Rom 8:15-17 15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of
adoption by whom we cry out, " Abba, Father." 16 The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are
children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs — heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with
Him, that we may also be glorified together.
