Chesson Construction joined members of the Ark Church community in Nags Head, NC, for the groundbreaking of their new facility on August 1, 2014. The new family life center and outdoor sports complex will include a kitchen, full basketball court, batting cages, volleyball and skating. Ark Church is a missions-minded church and from the inception of the church in 1978 to present, the Ark International Church supports over 40 missionaries monthly and has donated over $1 million dollars to various world missions. Adam Hughes is the project manager and Bob Vance is the superintendent. High Flying Bridge House A crew from A. R. Construction witnessed a major milestone this summer taking place during the construction of the bridge tender’s house on the new eastbound Camden Causeway drawbridge over the Pasquotank River in Elizabeth City, NC. Several employees were onsite coordinating placement of the roof structure as it was lifted into place. Plans call for opening the new drawbridge and starting renovation work on the westbound drawbridge by June 2015. The current bridge tender’s house will be removed from the westbound drawbridge during the current renovation work. Daniel Plyler is the project manager. Toll Free 800-849-4486 Williamston Elizabeth City Manteo Chesson Chronicle Page 2 Third Quarter 2014 New Dixie Oil Corporation New Dixie Oil Corporation began serving Eastern North Carolina in 1962 with oil, gas, LP gas, lubricants and other petroleum products. New Dixie Oil also operates convenience stores throughout NC and VA. The management of New Dixie has committed a significant investment to upgrade several existing convenience stores in the Roanoke Rapids area. A. R. Chesson Construction Company was hired to provide New Dixie design, retrofit, and renovation to three locations in Halifax County. Construction work on Village 231 located on Highway 48, started in June 2014 and was completed in August 2014. Renovation began at BP 209 Convenience Store and Carwash, located at the I-95 and Highway 158 intersection in September 2014 and will be completed in October 2014. At the same intersection, improvements to their Dairy Queen franchise will begin in October 2014 and will be completed in November. Clint Hardison is serving as the Superintendent for these upfit ventures. American Pride A. R. Chesson Construction would like to congratulate Jorge Villegas, owner of sub-contractor J Villegas Painting Inc., for obtaining U.S. citizenship. Jorge came to the USA in 1994 as a teen with his parents from Mexico. He started his fifteen year arduous process towards citizenship in 1999. As a valued sub-contractor, our company appreciates his hard work and wishes him well on his endeavors as a new American citizen. Prominently located on the busy 158 Highway, this facility also serves as the main distribution for the Dare County ABC Board. Kent Manning was the Superintendent and Doug Chesson was the Project Manager. Camden Board of Elections and Museum Completed The new site for Camden County Board of Elections has been completed. The location is in a renovated building adjacent to the Camden County Courthouse built in 1847 and the Camden County Old Jail which was built in 1910 and restored in 1986. The museum will showcase exhibits regarding Camden County’s rich history from the 1600’s to the present and is scheduled to open in the spring of 2015. The project manager was Adam Hughes and the Superintendent was Brian Clark. USDOL – OSH Outreach Trainer Andy Holliman, Corporate Safety Coordinator, has successfully completed OSHA 510 and OSHA 500 and is now an authorized USDOL–OSH Outreach Trainer for Construction. This certification authorizes him to facilitate OSHA 10 and 30 hour classes as well as other construction safety and health related OSHA classes. The OSHA 510 class focuses on the major subparts of 29 CFR 1926, the standard Safety and Health Regulations for Construction. Congratulations to Andy for his achievement and for always promoting “Safety First.” PEMB at Ocean Commerce Park in Kill Devil Hills A new facility for Outer Banks Heating and Cooling is currently under construction to establish their presence on the Outer Banks. Our Pre-Engineered Metal Building Division completed the structural component of the facility as well as siding and standing seam metal roof. The interior framing, mechanical, electrical and other interior finishes are being completed under the direction of Kent Manning, Superintendent, and Doug Chesson, Project Manager. In addition to A. R. Chesson Construction projects, our PEMB division serves other general contractors to furnish and erect their pre-engineered metal buildings. Kirk Nixon serves as our Pre-Engineered Operations Vice President. Carrie has over 15 years of experience in management serving in various administrator positions. She currently assists four Project Mangers and oversees more than 30 current jobs. Carrie and her husband Dan have two daughters and live in Belvidere, NC. Dennis Bousman has joined our team of field superintendents. Dennis has over 30 years of experience as a commercial construction superintendent. He has constructed many commercial buildings, restaurants, private and municipal projects. Dennis takes pride in delivering projects under budget and ahead of schedule. Dennis is currently working on the Like us on Facebook! Stanley graduated from Beaufort County Community College in 2001. He has experience with residential and commercial construction and is a Certified Welder. Stanley is currently working on the Martin County Shell Building, Syfan Extrusion addition, and the Hyde County Social Services project. He and his wife Meredith have two boys and reside in Washington, NC. Bob Vance has also joined our team of field superintendents. Bob grew up in West Virginia and has a background in coal mining. He has been in the construction field since moving to North Carolina in 1988. Bob has been a site superintendent for over 10 years with extensive experience in building retail projects of all sizes.
