The owner, Jason Zutaut, donated over 100,000 books at a value of $1 million. Superintendent Mayo-Brown, on behalf of Principal Carvalho of Watson Elementary School, requests acceptance of a $500 grant from the Rotary Club of Fall River to purchase Chrome Books for classrooms. 2 Agenda: Regular Meeting of the School Committee – Monday, December 9, 2013 Superintendent Mayo-Brown, on behalf of Principal Carvalho of Watson Elementary School, requests acceptance of a $250 donation from Dunkin Donuts to purchase a laptop for the school. Superintendent Mayo-Brown, on behalf of Interim Principal Francisco requests acceptance of ten 9” Android tablets from CA Technologies. This 45-minute jigsaw activity requires students to analyze and evaluate vintage photographs, period songs, regional maps, and source readings to enhance their comprehension of a pre-visit reading from Mark Twain’s non-fictional work Life on the Mississippi, an evocative description of the arrival of a Mississippi steamboat at a small river town much like his native Hannibal, Missouri. An optional, post-visit activity allows students to build on their museum experience by reading and writing their own poetic interpretation of the importance of the Mississippi River to the historical development of the United States.
