Langley High School is located in Northern Virginia within an established suburb of Washington, D.C.
Langley is one of twenty-nine high schools in Fairfax County. The majority of the community is
comprised of highly educated professionals representing domestic and foreign governments and
businesses.
Langley thrives on a tradition of academic excellence. Students also excel through numerous
extracurricular sports, clubs, and activities. This tradition is built on a strong foundation of support from
parents, community members, faculty, staff, and students.
Counselors:
As a designated Advanced Placement (AP) school, Langley offers students a stimulating curriculum
infusing the creative use of technology, as it embraces the needs of its diverse student body. Langley
offers over twenty AP courses. In addition, Honors courses are available in the four core
disciplines. Langley offers six world languages through the AP level. Langley’s tradition has been identified nationally in Newsweek and Washingtonian magazines.

A curriculum of on-campus courses is available to students including courses in art, business, computer
science, language arts, mathematics, music, physical education, science, social studies, technology, and
world languages. Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) also offers students the ability to take academy
courses, which specialize in vocational learning opportunities, world language, STEM, performing arts
and computer technology at various locations throughout the county. In addition to on campus courses
and academy courses, FCPS offers an online campus.
Langley is accredited by the Southern Association of College & Schools Counsel on Accreditation &
School Improvement.

It is the policy of FCPS to not rank their students.
GPA is based on high school courses taken which is often from grades 7 through 12.
All courses for which the student earned a grade A to F are included in the GPA.
Pass (P), Withdrawal (WP or WF) grades are not included in the GPA. Pass grades are counted
towards graduation credit.
Advanced Placement and Honors courses receive additional weighting in GPA calculations, 1.0
and 0.5 respectively.

GPA is calculated on a 4.0 scale:
A=4.0
A-=3.7
B+=3.3
B=3.0
B-=2.7
C+=2.3
C=2.0
C-=1.7
D+=1.3
D=1.0
F=0.0
School Day: Six 90-minute periods meeting every other day. One 45 minute period meets daily .
