PARISH NEWS
A NOTE FROM THE PASTOR
Dear Parishioners,
VOLUNTEER(S) NEEDED
We are seeking one or several volunteers for a relatively simple task, to “adopt a pump”. Our religious
education building contains 6 large pumps which
keep our rooms dry. They are relatively easy to maintain but they do require an occasional check to keep a
balanced water level in the battery. We are seeking
one or more volunteer who could take on the task of
overseeing the pumps every other month or so and
refilling the battery with water when necessary. John
Carter, a parish volunteer who manages the systems
in the church will be more than pleased to have a volunteer or two for the RE room pumps and will walk
the volunteer through the process of checking and
filling the battery. This is the perfect volunteer opportunity for busy parishioners or Religious Education
parents who can’t commit much time but would like
to help their church. For additional information contact Bernadette at 781-893-8461.
As pastor of Sacred Heart Church, I am grateful for the generous
contributions our parishioners have and continue to make in support of their church. Generous stewardship comes from the heart,
and for those who give as much as they can afford to help support
the mission of the church, know that I am most appreciative.
Over the past few weeks we have shared ways in which increased
parish support is needed. Much like your own households, basic
parish expenditures such as utility costs, heat and air conditioning, insurances, snow removal, and church supplies are just a
portion of our operational expenses that have risen over the
years. While $5 and $10 were typical and generous contributions
many years ago, they just don't meet the needs of our growing
parish today. Our parish is a busy and vibrant community, so
much so that my Province agreed to increase our staff adding the
pastoral support of Father Octavio in addition to myself and
Brother Damian. Having a full staff of clergy and lay personnel
enables us to serve the parish community, providing many opportunities for prayer, worship, faith formation, youth ministry, community building, service and justice and so much more. In order
to continue to do all that we do, your ongoing and consistent support will be necessary.
While some parishioners contribute generously week after week, it
is vital that we broaden the base of those who support the parish
regularly and substantially. To insure our financial strength and
expand our programs in order to continue serving our families
will require regular financial support from all of our parish families. Recently we implemented online giving making it easier for
parishioners to contribute their weekly donation online using
credit or debit card. Utilizing this free service will enable you to
factor church giving into your household budget while never having to concern yourself with offering envelopes or writing checks!
I realize that any increase in your giving will involve both a sharing of your blessings and a sacrifice. I appeal to your generosity,
and I will be grateful for whatever increase you can make and for
any gift you decide is appropriate. I thank you in advance for
your consideration on this most important matter.
God bless,
Father Dennis
OCTOBER MASS COUNTS
If you can help, please arrive 15-20 minutes before the start of
Mass Volunteer sign-up sheets for those who can designate a
Mass to help at, can be found at the front and parking lot entrances of the church. The remaining Mass Count weekends are; 18/19
and 25/26.
BAPTISM PREPARATION
This month baptism preparation classes will take place on Thursday, October 30th. Parents who are baptizing a child at Sacred
Heart Church are required to attend the baptism preparation class
prior to their child’s baptism. We welcome expectant parents and
encourage them to attend preparation before choosing their child’s
godparent. Knowing the responsibilities of a godparent (sponsor)
will better prepare you for making this important choice for your
child and his/her faith life. To arrange for the baptism of your
child, please contact the Parish Office (781) 899-0469 MondayThursday from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM. Baptism Classes are held in
the Religious Education Center adjacent to the Parish Office
building. ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
BAPTISM AND RCIA TEAM MEMBERS NEEDED
Our Baptism and RCIA programs are in need of additional team
members. Ideally we hope to have several team members so that
those volunteers might only need to commit to one monthly meeting. Team members needn’t be theologians or scholars of Catholic doctrine, just members of the Catholic community with a deep
love for God and a willingness to share their faith. Those interested learning more may contact Bernadette Scalese at 781-8938461.
Eucharistic Adoration had resumed and will take place on the
First Friday of each month from 8:00AM-12:00 Noon. The Third
Order of Mary will also hold Adoration on Sunday October 19th
from 2:30 to 4:00PM and continuing at that time on the third Sunday of every month.

WELCOMING FELLOW MASS GOERS
A good indicator of a welcoming parishioner is the reception
churchgoers are greeted with when coming to Mass. Do we
acknowledge those who enter the worship space with a smile and a
simple greeting; “hello”, “welcome”, “good morning” or “good
evening”? These simple words coupled with the gesture of a smile
make such a difference as we begin Mass. Too often we become
complacent in our usual routine of Mass attendance; sitting in “our
pew”, taking space at the end of the pew rather than pushing into
let others be seated, or becoming so engrossed in reading the Sunday bulletin that we fail to look up and be welcoming to those
around us. Hospitality is everyone’s mission in the church!
SOCIETY OF ST. CLARE
ST. CLARE MEETINGS
The Society of Saint Clare, the women’s group of Sacred Heart
Parish meets on the first Wednesday of each month at 7:00PM.

service and charity to those in need, and to share in the mission of
the church. The members of the Society of St. Clare are a fun loving and sociable group of woman with a common love of Christ
and desire to serve their church. Meetings are generally held on the
first Wednesday of each month, from September through June.
The Saint Clare meetings are informal gatherings that include
friendly conversation and light refreshments while planning upcoming events and enjoying opportunities to pray and grow in
faith. All women are welcome to attend and bring a friend. For
