Top of the Ticket, Ohio’s Governor Race
The Green Party candidate for governor, Anita Rios, will speak
at CMC forum on Wednesday, October 22 and the Republican
Party candidate, John Kasich will speak the following week on
Thursday, October 28 at the Columbus Renaissance. (NOTE
change of venue due to availability) The third candidate, Ed
Fitzgerald, from the Democratic Party spoke last week, and a

The daughter of Mexican American migrant farm works,
Anita Rios was born and raised in Toledo. A graduate of
the University of Toledo, Rios prides herself on her skills of
communication and organization. She has been active in
the Green Party for many years and has served on the Central
Committees for the Lucas County and Ohio Green Parties. Most
recently, she served as president of the Ohio chapter of the
National Organization for Women (NOW). She currently lives in
Toledo with her husband. She has two grown sons.
Republican John Kasich is seeking a second term as Ohio’s
69th governor. He has had a long career in public service
including 18 years as a member of U.S. Congress and chairman
of the House Budget Committee. After an unsuccessful
presidential run in 2000, he was a managing director in the
Investment Banking Division of Lehman Brothers, as well as
a commentator for FOX News and a Presidential Fellow at The
Ohio State University. He was born and reared in McKees Rocks,
Pennsylvania, near Pittsburgh, graduated from The Ohio State
