Newsletter of the Transfiguration Lutheran Church A few things from the council: Members of TLC: Service Project: Thank you for casting your opinion on our Service Board “What Service Project Should TLC Do?” letting us know which project you are interested in supporting! It is exciting to know we will focus on ministry through a service out‐
reach! Stay tuned for details on getting started! I love this time of the year. Besides my birthday being in early October I so enjoy the change of the colors and the beauty that God’s creation gives. Now obviously this will lead to a Rochester winter and snow and ice and bleak‐
ness that we will have to live through. But come next April the grass will grow and the flowers will bloom. Our God is always creating and recreating! Stewardship Stewardship will kick off on October 19th. If you would like to participate with the Stewardship team, we are looking for volunteers. Also, if you would like to participate with a tem‐
ple talk, let Lori or Jerry know. I am here as your transitional pastor through January 2015. I will be preaching as I am able because of former commitments. BUT – my point in this short article is to tell you that God CAN turn the depths of winter into the beauty and new life of spring. Therefore, we always live in HOPE! Renovation update Regarding our renovation on the lower level, the contractor has completed the repairs downstairs, and now we are just finalizing things including: painting touch‐up, ceiling and lights, evaluating storage needs, and cleaning up in general. So, by TLC friends, please live in hope during this transi‐
tion time. If you need to talk to someone I’m at the church office every Tuesday from 9:00am ‐ noon. Or you can e‐mail me at: [email protected]. Let’s make this time a good time and a time for which we will all be proud!!! Be your best with His help, Sunday School We had a great start to our Sunday School year! The plan is to have Sunday School every Sunday except for the last Sun‐
day of month. Sunday School takes place during the 10:30 service; the children stay in the service until after the gospel reading, and then they are excused to Sunday School. We now have a plan for middle/high school kids for the 2nd Sun‐
day of the month Youth Group will meet (also during 10:30 service). All children are welcome to attend Sunday School and then those wishing to attend Youth Group will simply cross over to Youth Group on the Sunday that it is of‐
fered. Thank you to our Sunday School Team, Becky Weber, Emily Freese, and Kelly Thompson! Sunday School always needs volunteers, so please let Emily Freese know if you can spare a Sunday morning or two to assist in the Sunday School room. Pastor Jim Summer is over… We now return to... A big thank you to the International Dance Group of Rochester! They were very generous in sharing their time and talents with us at the lay lead service on September 28th. They not only presented some very intricate and entertaining dances from several countries, they taught the willing participants some simple dances from a variety of countries. Worship through dance!
