Stewardship in Action:
That as generous stewards, in the giving of ourselves, may we become the means by which
God can answer every need, we pray to the
Lord…
Stewardship Reflection:
In today’s second reading, St. Paul thanks the
Philippians for being willing to share in his
hardships and promises that God, in turn, will
fully supply all their needs. Our God truly cannot be outdone in generosity!
Living Stewardship:
We are grateful this week for all stewards in
our parish who share their gifts by cooking or
providing meals for the homebound or those in
need at soup kitchens or community centers.
Stewardship of Collections:
Our thanks and gratitude for your sacrificial
giving each week.

FROM THE PASTOR
PASTOR’S DESK:
I received an email this week that I thought you should see:
THANK YOU!
The Life Center of Long Island sincerely thanks
St. Hugh of Lincoln Parish
for their recent donation.
Your generosity raised $2,866!
May God bless you for your support of life!
Well done, People of Saint Hugh. As always your great generosity shines for the love of God.
I thought it quite fortunate that this note came in October which is Right to Life Month throughout the nation.
It serves as a reminder of the need to persevere in our efforts to promote life issues all the time. The work of
preserving and protecting life can be exhausting and sometimes very frustrating. Sometimes we can feel like
we are fighting a losing battle. The journey seems uphill and the victories few. But when those victories come,
and they do come, what a wonderful feeling comes to those who have participated in the mission of the Lord
and his Church. Let me encourage us all to continue this important work through prayer, sacrifice and action.
Pray for the babies and their mothers who face this horrible decision. Sacrifice for the work of those who are
in the forefront of the mission to proclaim the value of each life. Give to those causes which truly reflect pour
values. Finally, Take action! Write to your senators and congress representatives, your state senators and assembly members, the president and our governor of your interest in this issue. Be strong and unbending in
your support for life issues. Who knows, this may be the year they finally listen to people of good will.
Fr. Joe

ST HUGH’S MINISTRY OF PRAYER
We have a special powerhouse of spiritual energy at St. Hugh: our ministers of prayer. This ministry of service is designed for homebound parishioners and others who are no longer able to participate actively in a
parish ministry due to age, infirmity or other limitations. The first of each month, participants receive, by
mail a list of prayer petitions for our world, our Church and our parish. The ministers make a commitment
to pray for these intentions at their convenience, in the privacy of their own home. Please spread the word
about the Ministry of Prayer! To be a part of this ministry, call the rectory 427-0638.

LifeSpiritual Adoption
Day One - Developing Baby
Right to
At the moment the father's sperm & mother's egg unite, a new & unrepeatable human being comes into existence
complete with his own unique set of DNA. Although he is only one cell, everything about this little person is already present: color of eyes, blood type, the height he will grow to be, color hair - everything. He will play a role
in his family & his community - a role only he can play! Nothing is added after conception to make him a complete
human being. He already exists; all he needs is nourishment, a safe, warm environment & most of all - love. His
parents don't even know he exists yet. Pray for them to safely bring their baby to birth so he can fulfill the mission God has for him.
SPIRITUAL ADOPTION PRAYER
Dear Jesus, child of Mary, I love you & thank you for your unconditional love. I plead with you to save the life of
the unborn child I have spiritually adopted & whose life is threatened by abortion. May this child be allowed to
grow in wisdom, age & strength in Your presence & in the sight of all. Amen
