Since 1912, the students of the University of Oklahoma have had the pleasure of extending an invitation to area high school students to participate in the Engineering Open House, the oldest and most successful event on the University of Oklahoma campus. High school students from across the state come to Norman each year to sample what the OU Engineering programs have to offer. Academic testing and engineering design competitions are the highlights of this event. These competitions are designed to allow students to display their knowledge of math, science, and logic areas. The NSLI-Y program is designed to immerse participants in the cultural life of the host country, provide formal and informal language practice, and spark a lifetime interest in foreign languages and cultures. These students will graduate from a public high school located in an eligible state and in a county having fewer than 50,000 residents. The waiver amounts are based on the student's composite score on the national ACT. Students who score a 21 are eligible for a $500 tuition waiver. Scores of 22 - 23 receive a $750 waiver and scores of 24-26 will receive a $1000 waiver. Students with exceptional scores a 27 or higher will receive a $1500 waiver. Visitors to the Varsity Tutors scholarship webpage are able to vote via social media for submitted entries. The top five entries with the most votes are reviewed by Varsity Tutors at the end of the month and one winner is subsequently chosen to receive the $1,000 college scholarship.
