Pupil Voice.
Our Y6 monitors have now been chosen and are already taking their responsibilities very seriously around school. After
some amazing presentations the pupils have now chosen their House Captains. We have Joshua Woods and Jamie Atkinson
representing Bylands; Kieran Rees and Abigail Warren representing Fountains; Natasja Clemmet and Matthew Rayner
representing Jervaulx and Matilda Connelly and Kyle Stearman representing Rievaulx. I am sure that they will not let their
House Teams down and will lead their teams to some great successes throughout the year – Good Luck!
Our School Council has also been chosen and this was a tough decision to make for all pupils in each year group. Pupils from
Year 1 to Year 6 fought for this most important position in school and after much deliberation our School Council for 20142015 is Y1 –Ella Bell and Sam Rhodes ; Y2 – Archie Cann and Alfie West ; Y3 – Nick Scull and Anna Cucurullo; Y4 – Gabby
Mathers and Harvey Raymond; Y5 – Adam Clayburn and Lily-Rose Shipley; Y6 – Heather Nuttall, Daniel Ward and Rio
Smithson-Hogg.
School Clothing.
Please can you make sure that ALL items of school uniform as well as PE kit, lunch boxes and water bottles are
clearly labelled. We have a great deal of clothing unclaimed already this year. It often happens that items of clothing
including coats and even shoes are found and the correct owner cannot be identified. Please ensure that your child’s PE kit is
in school on a Monday and remains in school for the week and taken home on a Friday.
School Meals.
As you know the new Government initiative regarding school meals provides a meal at lunchtime for all Key Stage 1 children.
However, if you are eligible for Free School Meals you are still required to apply for this benefit. It also includes free
residential trips and other opportunities throughout the school year. We as a school will receive a budget to provide
resources to enhance educational provision within school. Lunches still remain at the cost of £2.10 which is £10.50 each
week. Please ensure that the money envelope is fastened securely and clearly labelled. It would be very helpful if dinner
money could be sent to school on Monday mornings with your child, to avoid the school entrance getting too busy. Our school
lunches are specifically chosen and beautifully prepared by Mrs Thompson so that they comply with the correct daily intake
of nutrients therefore it would be nice to see more children taking up this option. If you have any queries regarding school
meals please call in to the office for advice.
Has Brompton Got Talent?
We think so… do you? Have you been singing along with acts during X Factor and shouting at the television – ‘I could do
better than that!’ Then we want to hear from you. Our adult choir meet each Wednesday from 6.00 – 7.00pm and work
towards performances in the community. We look forward to working with you on this exciting musical journey! We are
growing!! So if you are interested please contact our school office for more information.
Talking of Brompton’s Talent…
We certainly do have talent in Brompton Community Primary School and this has been rewarded for one of our pupils; Connie
Fisher (Year 5) has been given a lead role in the West End Musical ‘Billy Elliot’ and she has already left us and is now working
hard in London. We wish her well and hope that she enjoys this challenging role and we are very proud of her achievements.
We will keep you informed of her exciting journey as and when we find out!!
E-Mail
If you would like your newsletter or other correspondence sent via email please let Mrs Smith or Mrs Vasey know and we
will endeavour to set this up as soon as possible.
Clubs
Could we please remind you that if your child has ticked a particular club they must attend that club for at least half term.
Could all children who are taking part in the Football Club please bring football boots and shin pads. If this is a problem
please contact the school office.
Could we please call in any school guitars or recorders that may have been left at home from last year as we need
these instruments for the children playing these instruments this year.
Keep Fit With Brompton!
After having some super sessions with ‘Skip 2B Fit’ our Y6 pupils will be taking on the ‘Fitness Leader’ role and they will be
delivering ‘Shake up and Wake up’ sessions at 8.45am and 12.50pm for the whole school to take part in. At Brompton
Community Primary School we feel that physical exercise is very important and that having the Y6 pupils delivering this
message so strongly it will have a sustainable affect for our pupils and in their future.
Talking of Keeping Fit…
As winter approaches we are getting more and more pupils coming down with bugs. Could we please remind you that the
recommended time to keep your child away from school after their last bout of sickness is 48 hours. Could we also remind
you to ensure any medication that is kept in school ie inhalers are in date as we have a lot of medication that have reached
their sell by date. If you have any queries regarding medical issues in school please contact our school office.
Please note Brownies is held in school on a Thursday evening at 6pm for 7 – 10 year olds. Please come along if you are
interested in your child starting.
-WE HAVE CHILDREN IN SCHOOL THAT HAVE ALLERGIES TOWARDS NUTS THEREFORE CAN YOU REFRAIN
