Australia for your kids to grow up in? Our congregation last
weekend did - so much so that Malouf and Peppi ran out of coffee :)
Read this letter I received from a couple of parishioners and you will
understand what I'm talking about......
"“We have a lovely Muslim family in Minimine Street, Stafford who
run ‘”MAPLE CAFÉ”, near the Doctor’s Surgery and Chemist,
close to Webster Road.
Malouf was telling me today their business has dropped about 3040% recently and they may have to close.
The Uniting and Jewish Community have been showing their support
and I thought our Catholic community could also help??
Malouf and Peppi are from Bangladesh and are trying to make a go
of it in Brisbane, they have nothing to do with Syria or the Middle
East and are being sworn at in the street. They open 7 days a week
(7am – 1pm) and make a fantastic coffee.
Just wondering if you could mention this somehow
or tell parishioners."“ — And so I have - if you can
drop in for a cuppa for a greater cause then just a
caffeine fix, please do. Remember that repeat visits
will keep them going and create bonds that will
make a better world! - Denis

Our parish will conduct the annual World
Mission Month appeal next weekend
(October 18/19)
One of the stories told by the missionaries
who work in Jamaica is the challenge of
teaching children who come to school without having had
anything to eat. Hunger is a significant impediment to learning.
In the Gospel for this weekend, we hear a parable, not about
hunger, but about abundance. Yet the story of the feast and the
wedding celebration is not just a tale about those who have
much; it’s also a metaphor that is meant to speak to each of us
about the need to respond, when an invitation is offered. Next
week, in the Mass, you will be invited to support the Church,
and those who represent it, as they look to ‘reach out’ and ‘bring
life’ to people in need. On behalf of those who will benefit from
your generous response, we say thank you.

STAMPS FOR MARIST MISSIONS: We urgently require recent 70c and higher valued
Australian used stamps. Please leave them in the box to the left of the main Church door and
remember to leave a small border of paper on them, as they are worthless if damaged. Obviously
stamps are becoming more difficult to obtain with greater dependence on electronic media. Perhaps
you or someone you know work in an office which receives a high volume of mail. Could you
help us out by collecting the stamps that would otherwise be destroyed? This is an easy and
effective way of reaching out to the poor. Thank you for your ongoing support.
