"“We have a lovely Muslim family in Minimine Street, Stafford who run ‘”MAPLE CAFÉ”, near the Doctor’s Surgery and Chemist, close to Webster Road. Malouf was telling me today their business has dropped about 3040% recently and they may have to close. The Uniting and Jewish Community have been showing their support and I thought our Catholic community could also help?? Malouf and Peppi are from Bangladesh and are trying to make a go of it in Brisbane, they have nothing to do with Syria or the Middle East and are being sworn at in the street. They open 7 days a week (7am – 1pm) and make a fantastic coffee. Hunger is a significant impediment to learning. In the Gospel for this weekend, we hear a parable, not about hunger, but about abundance. Yet the story of the feast and the wedding celebration is not just a tale about those who have much; it’s also a metaphor that is meant to speak to each of us about the need to respond, when an invitation is offered. Next week, in the Mass, you will be invited to support the Church, and those who represent it, as they look to ‘reach out’ and ‘bring life’ to people in need. On behalf of those who will benefit from your generous response, we say thank you.
