We celebrate Confirmation:
The Bishop presides at this sacrament each year, usually
during the month of May. For information and preparation

Confessions are heard from 4 to 4:45 pm on Saturday; or
by appointment with any of our priests.

Marriages should be arrange at least six months in advance. Participation in Pre-Cana is essential. Please call

Update of our Parish Renovation Projects
Dear fellow parishioners,
Summer conclude/Fall season here?
There has been a lot going on behind the scenes and I want to take this time to update you on “what’s happening” at St. Louis de Montfort. As part of our 2011 capital campaign and the three phase plan of accomplishing
major projects, I am pleased to update you on:
Landscaping: as you may have noticed, we r ecently completed a major cut back of many over gr own
trees and growth surrounding the property. This major clean-up was necessary as thick vines and tree limbs
overgrew the edges of the property and into many areas of the parking lot. In the Spring, new plantings will
complement and improve the look of the parish grounds.
Parking Lot Project: we r ecently conducted under gr ound testing of the upper par king lot to deter mine
what was causing it to sink in certain areas. Borings and soil tests and GPR (ground penetrating radar) were
conducted and we found that the soil underneath the parking lot was not well compacted and has caused areas
of the parking lot to slowly sink over time. The plan over the next two weeks is to fill in any depressions with
patches and re-stripe the parking lot until April of next year when we will undertake a complete re-paving of
the roadway from New York Avenue and the entire upper lot. Thank you for your patience.
New Lighting Project: we ar e cur r ently r eplacing all the old Flor issant light with new extr emely efficient LED lighting. This project will lower our monthly electric bill by about $500 per month. Special thanks
to Mark Larsen, a faithful St. Louis de Montfort parishioner, who is helping to lead this effort.
Heating and Air-conditioning Project: We have r eceived four bids to update our HVAC system and ar e
evaluating these based on the cost and details of the work to be accomplished. I hope to be able to complete
this project sometime next year.
Rest Rooms (Lower Church): Soon, I am hoping to make pr ogr ess on the r enovation of the bathr ooms
in the lower church. They are in need of a significant update and are one of the final projects to be accomplished.
Thanks to your generous response and continued support of our Parish Renovation Campaign, we are able to
make these important updates to help keep our parish buildings and grounds in good condition.

Journeying Through Grief
Our Bereavement Team can assist in bringing you healing
and comfort following the death of a loved one. We offer
one-on-one sessions throughout the year and plan group
support sessions in the Spring and Fall. In these sessions
we journey together as a small community. Help is available through the compassion and caring of others. Please

Church in Rocky Point.
The Bible Book of the Month Club: J oin us on Thur sday, November 6th, fr om 10 to 11:30 AM in the Music Room at St. Anthony’s
Church in Rocky Point for our study of the Bible. This month we will
be reading and studying the First Book of Maccabees. Each month we
will take a different book of the Bible and share what it means for us in
our faith journey!

14th –Oct. 16th, from 9 AM to 5 PM, and on Wed., evening
from 7 to 9 PM. If you are registering a child for the first time,

Opportunities for our Young Adults (18-35)
Bible Study and Faith Sharing for our Young Adults: J oin
us beginning on Monday, Octoner 20th, for our Bible Study at
St. Mark’s in Shoreham from 8 to 9 PM. We will be gathering
in the Meeting Room in the Parish Center and planning social,
spiritual, and service opportunities for our Young Adults.

Is the Sacrament of Confirmation a Graduation from Religious Education? Is it the endpoint of all we need to know
about our Catholic Faith? At. St. Louis de Montfor t we
think not!! Our Religious Education takes place in small groups
in Pre-K through 8. These groups forma great sense of community and faith sharing. We are encouraging all of our Confirmation Groups to continue to meet throughout the Teen Years as
our teens need this sense of community, sharing of faith and life
issues, and personal affirmation.
Youth Communities: To sign up for one of our many Youth
Communities (small groups of 8 to 10 Teens with two Adult
Leaders), you can register at the Religious Education Office.
Many of our Confirmation groups from previous years are continuing to meet together.
Youth Mass: 12:00 Noon Mass each Sunday.
Teen Community Days: On Sunday, Oct. 19th, we will gather together in the Parish Center after our Teen Mass from 1 to
2:30 PM with all of our Youth Communities for sharing and
Bible Study: The Gospel of John: J oin us on Monday, October fellowship.

Shoreham as we study the gospel of John and apply the meaning of the
gospel to our own lives today!

Seminar for all of the parents of our children in Rel.
Ed. To give them an opportunity to grow in their understanding of our beloved Catholic Faith. The seminars consist of a twenty minute presentation on a specific aspect of our Catholic Faith and how this relates
to our role as parents, an opportunity for our parents
to share together, and a prayer experience. Our next
parent seminar will be offered on Tuesday, November
4th, from 10 to 11 AM or from 7 to 8 P)M. We will
meet in the Church (or in the Chapel if there is a
Mass of Christian Burial in the Church).
Franciscan Young Adult Group: J oin us on
Wednesday, November 12th, at 7 PM at St. Louis de
Montfort in Room #4 of our Religious Education
Center, to grow in a closer relationship with God and

Small Christian Communities: You ar e cor dially invited to
come and share the Spirit of Christ! Join a Small Christian
Community here at St. Louis de Montfort. What is a Small
Christian Community? We are members of the parish family
who gather together in small groups to reflect on how the Spirit
of Christ is working in our lives. We reach out to other sin that
same Spirit. There are currently several groups meeting at various dates, times and locations within our parish community. We
even have a Moms and Tots group for those of you with little

PRESCHOOL NEWS
The St. Louis de Montfort Preschool welcomes our
teachers and students back from summer vacation.
Classes began on Monday, September 8th for the 4year-olds, and on Tuesday, September 9th, for the
3’s. We had a great first week!
The Preschool is located in the Msgr. McGuire Parish
Center, next to the Chapel. We offer a Three-year old
program on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and a Four-year
old program on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
We offer an AM session and a PM session. We are a
cooperative program and require that parents volunteer once a month as a teacher’s helper in their child’s
class.
Our three-year-old program is full at this time. We
are still enrolling our 4-year-olds. Come join our Parish Preschool family! If you have any questions, and

This year’s preparation for the 800th Anniversary of
the Dominican Order has the theme: “Lay Dominicans and Preaching.” The Sisters of St. Dominic,
