‘P4B shared by
Makati execs’
MANILA: At least P4 billion from 10 infrastructure projects that the Makati City government awarded to a
favored contractor between 1999 and 2014 went to
city officials and resident auditors as kickbacks, according to former Makati Vice Mayor Ernesto Mercado. The
10 projects awarded to Hilmarc’s Construction Corp.
cost the taxpayers of Makati at least P15
billion, said Mercado, a witness in a
Senate blue ribbon subcommittee
investigation of alleged irregularities in
the Makati government during the
term of Vice President Jejomar Binay as
city mayor. “Twenty-eight percent from every project
was shared by the mayor down to the lowest official in
the web involved in the conspiracy,” Mercado told the
Inquirer in an interview in his office in Makati. Mercado
said 13 percent of the 28-percent kickback went to
Binay while he was mayor of Makati.
The remaining 15 percent went to others-the vice
mayor, 16 members of the city council, the city council secretary, members of the the bids and awards
committee (BAC), the city engineer, members of the
technical working group (TWG), department heads,
two sectoral representatives (a barangay chair and
the Sangguninang Kabataan chair) and resident
Commission on Audit (COA) auditors. —Inquirer.net

conference with Philippine health secretary Enrique Ona in Manila on October 10, 2014. The Philippines is considering deploying substantial
number of health workers to West Africa amid a global appeal to deal with the Ebola virus, Health Secretary Enrique Ona said October 10. —AFP
Health workers padala ng Manila sa Ebola-hit W Africa
MANILA: Magpapadala ng maraming health workers
ang Pilipinas sa West Africa upang tumulong labanan
ang patuloy na paglala ng Ebola virus. Ayon kay
Health Secretary Enrique Ona noong Biyernes,
2014. “I think it is also something of a responsibility for
our country... to respond to that global call for assistance,” sabi ni Ona sa joint news conference ng World
Health Organization Western Pacific director Shin
Young-soo na ginanap sa Manila kamakailan.
“We (Philippine officials) are meeting on this issue
and should be able to make a firm decision... maybe in
a week or so.”
Korea, Japan, UAE, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia at marami
pang iba!
“The human resources that may be needed (may)
not necessarily be working only in the Ebola-affected
facilities,” dagdag ni Ona. “(There) may also be workers
needed, for example, in public health, or taking care of
hospitals where the usual non-Ebola patients go.”

Ahmadi King Pin joins ‘magic 6’
Z’CLAS Strikers stick to 1
By Gabriel Hidalgo
KUWAIT: Despite below par performance of the lady bowler, the
Ahmadi King Pin still grabbed a safe position inside the “Magic 6”
when they subdued the undermanned Cozmo 2855-2536 while the
two remittance company’s contrasting win-lost revue, the UAE
Exchange who suffered defeat still upheld the second highest position while Dollarco winning the game jumped to fourth position at
the on-going elimination round of the Philippine Bowling
Association in Kuwait 4th Season Team League Tournament held at
the Cozmo Bowling Center in Kheifan.
Z’CLAS Strikers team holding the top rank and good performance level of its key players caused the depreciation of UAE
Exchange stockholdings and crushed the later performance with
the score of 2790-2550. Alex Cervantes and Mina Andaya piloted the
victorious team supported by Hermie Saliba, father and son Kiko
and Keven Andaya and Nheng Cervantes while UAE Exchange team,
the husband and wife tandem Aldin and Michelle Avila played the
leading role with their combined scores of 1161 followed by renato
Pante, rudy de Lima and Pinky Pardillo.
Dollarco Exchange performance level appreciated when Original
Pin Killer showed up with depleted lineup. Exchanged King won the
scheduled 3-game series 2725 -2479 and step forward from fifthto
fouth position while the Pin Killer plunged deeper. The 5-man team
of Dollarco were Blanca Mercado, rocky Castil, Cris Carungay, Lito
Mercado, Maricel Montero and reygan Percy while the losers were
Donovan Connor, Greg Melancon, Jelyn Colegio and Jenny Ganot.
Ahmadi King Pin took the advantage and silenced the encumber
Cozmo team in their 3-game encounter that resulted to 2855-2536
and leaped from ninth to sixth rank while Cozmo left hanging on
the eight position. The energized Kings were Jess de Vera (590),
Norlan Balasan (562), Jess Tolentino (511) and rashid Akher Ali (500)
and Fe Ferrer on her below par performance. The four courageous
Cozmo guys were Noe Mahayag (591), Jun Husmillo (501), Aris de
Guzman and Jacky Guitang.
Other results: Thunder Dragons broke its patience and blew fire

Mayweather-Pacquiao tiff will happen, Floyd Sr vows
MANILA: The biggest fight that the world
wants to see might happen next year.
Floyd Mayweather Sr. told Fighthype.com
on Wednesday (Thursday Manila time) that
his son might have Filipino boxing icon
Manny Pacquiao as his 49th opponent in the
pro ranks.
“Man, I’m pretty sure that if nothing else
happen, he’s gonna get Pacquiao...it’s gonna
happen. That fight’s gonna happen. Trust
me,” Mayweather, Sr. told Fighthype.com’s
Ben Thompson.
“You mark my words and we’ll see. And it
needs to happen. Just like Ali and Joe Frazier,
or Ali and George Foreman, something like
that, man, it’s one of those fights like that,”
he added.
With two fights left in his Showtime contract, Floyd Jr. has yet to announce his next
opponent after disposing Marcos Maidana
for the second time.
Mayweather, Jr, who currently holds a 470-record with 26 knockouts is expected to
fight in May 2015. His father believes all
signs are pointing to a Pacquiao fight after
that provided that the eight-division world
champion takes care of his business.
The rumored mega fight was all the more
fanned by the news of Top rank and
Showtime in negotiation to stage pay-perview fights together.
Pacquiao, who is under Bob Arum’s Top
rank promotions, is set to fight American
challenger Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 in Macau.
If he wins, Pacquiao might finally end up taking a megabuck bout against the unbeaten
Mayweather, Jr.
“Well, it might be number 49. Floyd’s
gonna kick his little ass,” added the elder
Mayweather, who maintained that his son
would pick Pacquiao apart. The outspoken
trainer thinks Pacquiao does not stand a
chance to give his son his first loss.
“He’s tailor-made to eat the right hand all
day long. You gotta remember, Pacquiao is a
southpaw. He’s a southpaw and Floyd is
right-handed, so he’ll eat right hands and
left hooks all night, and more than likely, he
will be going to sleep again. Believe me,” Floyd Mayweather Sr. is confident that the much-awaited fight between his son
Mayweather, Sr. said. —The Philippine Star
and Manny Pacquiao will happen.
