need you to bring in donations for the homeless teens at
Crosswalk! Go through your closets for clothes to bring in!

THE DR. WHO SCI-FI CLUB - Our goal is to promote the
discussion of Sci-Fi movies, books, television shows, video
games, comic books and other media. Please join us on
Wednesday, October 15 from 2:30 - 3:30 in the Ferris Library.

PICTURE RE-TAKE AND MAKE-UP DAY – Friday, October
17, bring in picture packets that you want to replace, or if you
were absent, come to the Commons between 8:00 – 10:00am.

THE HOMEWORK CENTER is looking for students who can
tutor in English, upper level math and science. If you are
interested, please stop by and see Mrs. Ellerd in Student

STCU HUNDRED DOLLAR PROJECT - has a great
opportunity to win up to $2,500 for a team of students (two or
more) who have a personal passion project. Once you have

Your parents need help with the upcoming craft fair and

11. SENIORS, YOUR FALL SENIOR CLASS MEETING IS today
(10-15), NOTE New time and location. Be in the gym no
later than 10:40. First lunch begins at 11:21. On the
agenda: Saxon Bucks and graduation. Your Senior AllNighter parents will tell you how you can earn extra Saxon
Bucks and give information about your Senior AllNighter. Also, Jostens will hand out your graduation
packet, which includes ordering your cap/gown. Please
plan on attending. Really important information will be shared.
12. SENIORS, ANOTHER GREAT SCHOLARSHIP
OPPORTUNITY - Comcast Leaders and Achievers: Ferris can
nominate one senior for a $1,000 award. The applicant must
have a strong commitment to community service, strong
academics and leadership. A fantastic scholarship. Ferris has
had a recipient every year. To apply, submit your detailed
resume to Mrs. Vincent no later than November 1.
13. STUDENT RIDERSHIP SURVEY - The week of October 20
through October 24 is student ridership survey week. If you are
an eligible bus rider, and plan on riding the bus during this
school year, we encourage you to ride the bus from home to
school this week. If you are not sure and think that you are
eligible, please come to the office to clarify your eligibility. If
you are riding STA - using a district provided bus pass you
must attend school at least three of five days next week to
remain eligible to receive these district provided passes.
Please see the office if you have questions regarding this

14. SENIORS - WSU SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY - The
Regents Scholars Program has two award levels:
Distinguished Regents Scholar: Full tuition and mandatory fees
for up to 18 credits per semester, for four years.
Approximately 10 students will receive this award. Ferris had a
Distinguished Regent last year! Regents Scholar: $4,000 per
academic year for four years. All qualified nominees who
complete the admission and scholarship application process by
the deadline will receive this award. Ferris can nominate two
outstanding seniors for these scholarships. If you want to be
considered for these scholarships please submit your
(detailed) resume to Mrs. Vincent no later than Thursday
October 16. Applicant must have an outstanding academic
record and strong resume. If you have questions, see Mrs. V.

15. SCHOOL PICTURES - Have your parents been wondering
why they have not seen the school pictures they purchased?
They are available for pick up in the Business Office before or
after school, between classes or during lunch. (KM10-15)
16. SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR Grades 9 – 12:
Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW, VOICE OF DEMOCRACY
SCHOLARSHIP will award more than $2.1 million in
scholarships. Student compete by writing and recording an
audio essay 3 to 5 minutes, on a patriotic theme. This year's
theme is Why Veterans are Important to our Nation's
History and Future. Ferris had a district winner last year. This
is a wonderful local scholarship. Application in the College
Career Center. Deadline is November 1. (LV10-15)
