A report on Swachh Bharat- Cleanliness Drive Dr. LP Singh ENVIS Coordinator ENVIS Centre, CSIR-CBRI Roorkee Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change CSIR-Central Building Research Institute, Roorkee Introduction A Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in the light of guidelines given in letter from Cabinet Secretary(DO No. CS-14771/2014, Sep., 20th), an action oriented cleanliness drive was initiated by ENVIS Centre at CSIR- CBRI, Roorkee. The Inauguration of the Drive The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan at CSIR-CBRI was carried out under the pioneership of CBRI ENVIS Centre (Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, New Delhi). The campaign was inaugurated by Prof. S.K. Bhattacharyya, Director, CSIR-CBRI and Dr. S.P.S Bakshi, Managing Director, Engineering Projects India Limited and President, India Building Congress. Inauguration ceremony An action oriented cleanliness drive executed by ENVIS team The team members of ENVIS centre (CSIR-CBRI) were actively engaged in spreading the message of importance of cleanliness in our life among the school children. Alongwith this, cleaning activities were undertaken within the premises of institute. Junior High School, CBRI Roorkee Primary School, CBRI Roorkee Government Primary School No. 3, IIT Roorkee Government Primary School, Khanzarpur, Roorkee Coverage by Media The activities performed by the ENVIS team were widely covered by print media. The drive undertaken by CBRI ENVIS team during “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” was successful and created awareness among people and students. The school children and teachers also took interest and participated with the team members.
