This short clip is a bumper animation created for the Travel Channel for a class project.
Photo Book
While using the channel’s current branding, I wanted to use it in a way that was prominently
CD Packaging
different while still remaining recognizable.
Photography
My concept for this animation was to fly the viewer through the scene and convey a
Résumé
sense of discovery. The entire clip happens in one “environment”, but as time passes
new views are uncovered and experiences are had which culminate in a greater
understanding and awareness of the viewers surroundings.
This was my first real venture using Cinema 4D and it was a great learning experience!
I combined C4D along with Adobe Premiere to create a more believable setting with
the addition of some color tweaks and appropriate sound effects (which I learned while
working on videos for CPR).

During this summer semester, I had the opportunity to work in San Francisco with a video
Photo Book
production company called Creative Presentations Resources (CPR). While there I had the
CD Packaging
chance to experience (and assist with) every phase that goes into creating a marketing
video for a client. I was able to do everything from full-on motion graphics and stock media

sourcing to sound effects and storyboarding, which really helped me grow as a designer.
While I am not wholly responsible for the creation of these videos, I did contribute some
amount of motion graphics as well as assisted with storyboarding and scene layout!

I was approached by Revolution UC to create a new logo for their existing website. They
Photo Book
are a hackathon hosted by the University of Cincinnati who’s goal is to bring passionate
CD Packaging
developers, designers, and entrepreneurs together for a weekend to make awesome stuff.
Photography
Since the essence of Revolution UC revolves around creation, technology and connecting
Résumé
individuals, I tried to focus on those themes in my design.
The typeface was chosen to continue the tech-based feel, but the slab serif makes it a bit
friendlier and approachable. The dots and connections in the UC mark are reminiscent of
printed circuit boards while also representing the connecting of individuals.
I also wanted to take the brand one step further by creating a short animation that could
be used in video production or as a web banner.

For this assignment, we were instructed to create a short animation using our name. The
Photo Book
purpose was to effectively describe ourself or our personalty by using motion, graphics,
CD Packaging
and color.
Photography
The cool color palette reflects a relaxed or mellow personality while the orange provides a
Résumé
bit of a bright or happy tone. The movements and motion used carry a smooth feel while
also feeling smart and active. Each scene creates a letter of my name, taking the audience
on a miniature journey. Additionally, the text chosen is Futura, but modified in a way to feel
a bit more light-hearted.

As an introduction to Adobe After Effects, we were assigned to create a short kinetic type
Photo Book
piece animating the dialogue from a movie of our choice. The dialogue I chose to animate
CD Packaging
was from the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.
Photography
The cool color palette was selected to represent the movie’s overall light-hearted
Résumé
humor and feel while the quick animation style reflects the quick speech from the main
speaker. This combination creates an aesthetically pleasing and well-communicated first
motion piece.

Résumé
This infographic was created to illustrate the amazing amount of
rock climbing in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge.
Utilizing data from a variety of sources, I wanted to visualize the
amount of each type of climb in the area along with how those
amounts related to each other. I also chose to include an overall
breakdown of grades, the amount of multi-pitch climbs along with
a small blurb about my RRG experiences.

Résumé
The magazine rebrand and iPad application were a series of school
projects in which we picked a magazine to redesign and then were instructed to create a series of article spreads for both print and the iPad.
I chose to rebrand Popular Photography, knowing the magazine was
geared toward a broad audience of photographers, from absolute
beginner to the pros. Using that knowledge, I renamed the magazine
Focalpoint. My reasoning is that despite the readers’ skills, they all
have a desired area of focus in mind, be it literally in a photo or an
idea in their head.

Résumé
This project was a great chance for me to further investigate brand
design and user interaction. It also allowed me to work in both print
and digital layouts, giving me a better handle on each. Creating and
working with files destined for different forms of media gave insight
to the nature of each platform while layouts and wireframing gave
great experience with work flow and process.
Since I am also interested in photography, I only used my own
photographs throughout the entire project.

Résumé
During my first co-op experience, I was a Graphic Designer for Sweaty Bands,
a women’s headband company in Cincinnati, Ohio. Most of my time was
spent creating headband designs for sale to the public and working with
customers to create custom designs. I also created large scale banners for use
at expos and web graphics that went up on their website and social media.
Custom orders ranged from huge batch orders for organizations, businesses,
schools, and events to one-off prints for individual customers. Being able to
work with clients to create the design they wanted was a great step into the
professional world for me.

Résumé
The Photo Book was a class assignment in which we had to create a book
for a collection of our own photos.
The concept of my book was based on a photographic technique that
involves removing the lens from the camera body, reversing it, and then
holding the reversed lens back up against the body. This technique not
only creates a macro effect, but also allows for a more organic and unique
view at the subject. Each photo depicts a plant which is identified by a
small caption. The wooden covers were chosen to continue the organic
theme while the coptic stitching allows each page to lay flat.

Résumé
This CD packaging was the result of a project with the objectives of designing
and constructing a package to hold both a CD and fold-out poster for a band of
our choice, all while harmoniously combining type and photography (much like
my record packing).
My selected band was an Icelandic act by the name of Sigur Rós and their
album Valtari. Their music is very atmospheric and at times ominous, so I wanted
to utilize that airy or “wispy” feeling in my design.
The main photo I took of the mantis was done by removing the lens of the
camera, flipping it around, and holding the reversed lens up to the opening of
the camera body (the same technique explored in my Photo Book). The text was
chosen to compliment the organic nature of both the music and the photography
while remaining unobtrusive overall.

Résumé
Photography has always been a passion of mine and
I try to focus that passion into my design. Sometimes
the good shots happen by accident and sometimes
I have an idea in my head that I want to execute.
Other times, a lot of iteration and trial and error goes
into some of the more complex shots, but regardless
of what I shoot, I feel I’m always learning about my
camera or the way I see the world through it.
