UTS: Master of Business in IT Management (MBITM)
About the Program
The MBITM is a high quality and challenging program aimed at aspirant IT professionals whose objective is
to progress to senior technology and/or business leadership roles. The course has been offered by the
University of Technology, Sydney since 1994 and has been recognised as one of the most successful of its
150 postgraduate programs.
The objective of the MBITM is to produce world class graduates who can contribute to the strategic
leadership of Australian organisations across various industries and sectors. Careful selection ensures that
only high potential applicants are admitted into the course. Similarly, teaching staff are hand-picked according
to their industry and professional experience, and academic qualifications. This focus upon excellence
ensures a knowledge-rich learning environment for each successive cohort of MBITM candidates.
Since its inception many of the MBITM Alumni have risen to leadership positions in business organisations
across the world, with some having founded very successful businesses of their own.
The MBITM Board
The MBITM Board oversees the strategic leadership of the program and conducts initiatives to ensure its high
standards are maintained. The Board is constituted by members of the MBITM teaching staff, alumni, current
students and the head of the program, Associate Professor Ken Dovey.
The Board has established a strong and active MBITM community network and since its inception four (4)
years ago, has delivered a number of notable events to our community of over 1,500 IT professionals. The 3rd
MBITM golf day constitutes another contribution to a great program aimed at educating Australian business
leaders who will make a difference in the world.
MBITM Golf Day
The 3rd Annual MBITM Golf Day at NSW Golf Club
The UTS Master of Business in IT Management (MBITM) will be hosting its 3rd Annual Golf Day at the iconic
New South Wales Golf Club on Tuesday, 18th November 2014.
History
In 2012, the MBITM held its inaugural Golf Day. The
day was a great success with 77 guests participating in
a fantastic round of golf, sharing a delicious meal and a
lucky few taking home a swag of prizes! The
enthusiastic response and feedback from those who
participated in the 2012 Golf Day, as well as the value
generated for UTS and our sponsors, encouraged us to
make the MBITM Golf Day an annual event!
In 2013, our 2nd annual golf day was again heralded as a
tremendous success by all 75 guests, with a number of
our guests and sponsors being introduced to new
business opportunities and expanding their personal
networks across several industry verticals.
Target Audience
The purpose of the event is to increase awareness of the UTS MBITM program with Senior Technology
Executives and IT Managers from large Organisations as well as Business Owners associated with the IT&T
industry.
Over the past two years, we have hosted a large number of high profile senior executives from various
industries and through this event, expanded our community.

MBITM Golf Day
Format of the Day
There are three (3) key networking opportunities
throughout the day:
Registration and Breakfast
Breakfast provides an hour in the morning for all
guests to mingle, register and take part in an
official welcome, where our sponsors are
acknowledged for the first time.
On the Course
The format of Golf played is called “4 person
Ambrose”. In the 4 person Ambrose golf
competition, all team members tee off at each hole.
The team then selects the best positioned ball and
this position is marked. All team members then
take their next shot from the marked location
This format is brilliant for all levels of golfers, starting from “I’ve only played putt putt” to the more seasoned
players. This ensures that everyone enjoys their time on the course and more importantly, the entire group
stays together throughout the day!
Lunch and Prizes
During the two hours for lunch, the golf groups will be separated and each person will be allocated to a table
with up to 10-12 new people. A gourmet meal is accompanied with hand-picked wines and drinks followed by
dessert and a presentation, thanking the sponsors and awarding the individual and group prizes.
Throughout this time, opportunities are available for further introductions across the room which can be
facilitated through the MBITM Board members who will participate on the day.
