CAM-I Winter Meeting 2014 | 3
Join us in
New Orleans!
Our quarterly meetings enable participants to work in diversified interest groups developing
leading-edge research, hear presentations by leading experts, and develop a network of
contacts from industry, government, consultancies and academia.
I invite both members and first time guests to the Consortium for Advanced Management International (CAM-I) Winter Meeting
in New Orleans, LA.
The theme of the December meeting is Insight and analytics and the evolving role of the CFO. CAM-I offers a forum for public and
private sector professionals to collaboratively develop solutions for today’s biggest challenges, including the integration of solution sets.
The implementation/utilization of these advanced concepts provides participating organizations a tremendous competitive advantage
in their business practices and knowledge acquisition well in advance before they go public.
Our quarterly meetings are the primary vehicle to further CAM-I’s Mission – To serve as a collaborative forum of thought leaders
who develop practical and effective management tools, techniques and methods to advance the way organizations manage costs,
processes and performance. In addition to the diversified interest groups, we have terrific keynote addresses planned on Tuesday
during our Body of knowledge forum.
CAM-I welcomes new attendees and we offer a Newcomer Orientation Monday morning. Guests and first time attendees are encouraged to attend. If you have any questions about our programs please contact me at [email protected] or at (512) 296-6872.
I look forward to seeing you in December.

Intelligent Data
Quality Management
Performance
Management
Envision efforts to develop valuation methods (i.e., assigning
quantitative costs to data quality, opportunity costing), analytics,
maturity models, end-to-end lifecycle analysis, and best practices
research ultimately to develop a framework that provides an
intelligent means for managing data quality, thus reflecting the
management of an important organizational asset.
The group has developed a practical framework that enables any
organization to assess their level of performance management
maturity. In addition, the framework provides guidance on the
most appropriate improvement techniques while taking into
consideration the organization’s readiness capability. Phase II
research has been completed with the publishing of the CAM-I
Performance Management Framework – Executive Overview
and the development of an 8 step implementation workshop,
associated assessment tools and Instructor Guidebook.
Phase III research will continue at the next meeting including

Environmental
Sustainability
The Environment Sustainability Interest Group (ESIG) is conducting
a market survey to understand how organizations manage their
environmental sustainability initiatives, with a particular interest
in how they utilize cost management principles, such as activity
based costing/management (ABC/M), to manage those initiatives..
This work is a follow-up to a whitepaper the interest group wrote
entitled: Measuring and Managing Environmental Sustainability:
Using Activity-Based Costing/Management (ABC/M). Through
the market survey, ESIG will work to understand:
a) The objectives of environmental sustainability (ES) programs
b) How organizations manage ES programs
c) The use of cost to manage ES programs
d) Best practices identified and utilized by the organization
e) Challenges and pitfalls identified by the organization
The ESIG has conducted interviews with a number of companies,
including several CAM-I members, and is in the process of writing
up its results.
Chair: Mark Lemon, Phone (703) 637-2949 or [email protected]
Integrated Risk and
Crisis Management
The Integrated Risk and Crisis Management (IRCM) Special Interest
Group has identified the “toggle switch,” or inflection point, that
operates between risk and crisis management. Leaders will benefit
from the tools in development to better prepare for and manage
through a crisis.
The group is working on a revised model with emphasis on the
infection point where management has to begin putting emphasis
on crisis management techniques.
