TWENTY-EIGHTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME October 12, 2014 Stewardship Message Weekday Masses and Intentions In today’s second reading, St. Paul tells us that he has learned to be comfortable either with being well fed or going hungry, having plenty or being in need. One perspective on Paul’s attitude is learning the secret to being content with less! This is trusting in God, and one of the principle virtues of the Christian disciple and steward. “Live simply… so that others may simply live” Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Stewardship Office, The Archdiocese of Winnipeg, www.archwinnipeg.ca Directory of Contact Persons Please call the parish office or Email [email protected] if you would like to contact any of the following people. Adoration Chapel To be able to discover the actual will of the Lord in our lives always involves the following: a receptive listening to the Word of God and the Church, fervent and constant prayer, recourse to a wise spiritual guide, and a faithful discernment of the gifts and talents given by God, as well as the diverse social and historic situations in which one lives. —Blessed John Paul II There are several chapel hours waiting for the faithful to sign, call Josie 604-266-6131. Did You Know?....The monogram ‘IHS’ that often appears on clerical vestments or sacred objects is a shortened representation (including the first and last letters) of the name of Jesus as it is written in Greek – “ Iesous”. St. Ignatius of Loyola adopted the monogram as the symbol of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) that he founded in 1540 (Catholic Encyclopedia, 2009). ….The Parish Religious Education Program Antiphons: Missal p. 427 (28 t h Week) Feast Missal or Memorial Page Jesuit Order is renowned for its scientific accomplishments and achievements in a number of disciplines, including astronomy and linguistics. Seismology was at one time so extensively studied by Jesuits that it came to be known as the “Jesuit science”. Approximately 35 craters on the moon are also named after Jesuit scientists and mathematicians (How the Catholic Church Built Western Civilization, Thomas E. Woods Jr (Regency Publishing), 2005).
