From Sunday to Thursday, the group attends morning and afternoon Matara sessions and the rest of the time, they are encouraged to choose from any of the general Limmud lectures and activities. In addition, there are two social evening programmes for the group. The goals of the programme are: To provide Jewish-themed learning, community analysis and insights into informal educational practice and theory for youth and student leaders employed or active in centres of Jewish life across Europe. To give participants an opportunity to network and be part of the largest conference of Jewish learning and culture in Europe. To enhance the skills of participants to develop Jewish programming upon their return to their communities enriched by the Matara experience. Matara sessions introduce contemporary issues facing the Jewish world today and explore the past and present history of Jewish communities. Other sessions present a comprehensive overview of Jewish text and history. Special focus will be given this year to informal education theory and practice.
