Africa Day is celebrated as Unification Day. The year 2014 was declared by the African Union as a “Year of Agriculture & Food th Security” marking 10 Anniversary of the adoption of the Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) that means it is a special year as it is a base year and launch year for CAADP for the next decade 2014 – 2023.
