Procedure to start using the 4K Media Player
See the following topics in this order to start using the 4K Media Player properly.
1. Checking the series name of your BRAVIA TV
Check the series name of your TV first as the jack used for connection varies depending on your TV.
2. Connecting a TV
Connect your TV to the 4K Media Player using the HDMI cable.
3. Connecting an AV receiver
Skip this procedure if you will not be using an AV receiver.
4. Configuring the internet connection
5. Preparing the remote control
Prepare the remote control to operate the 4K Media Player.
6. Turning on the 4K Media Player
After making the necessary connections, connect the AC power cord (mains lead) to the 4K Media Player, then

Connect your TV to the 4K Media Player using the High Speed HDMI cable (not supplied) as illustrated below.
The jack used for connection on the TV varies depending on the series name of your TV. To find out the series name of
your TV, see “Checking the series name of your BRAVIA TV.”

This connection is optional. You can enjoy high quality sound from the 4K Media Player using an AV receiver.
Connect an AV receiver with an HDMI input jack to the 4K Media Player using a High Speed HDMI cable (not supplied)

Configuring the internet connection
Check the network environment requirements and then connect the 4K Media Player to the internet via a wired LAN
connection.
Required network environment
LAN (100) port:
100BASE-T
(The network speed may differ depending on the network environment.)
LAN cable:
We recommend using a LAN cable that is Cat5 or higher. A normal-type cable is also recommended, as some flattype LAN cables are easily affected by noise.
If the receiver is used in an environment with power supply noise from electronic devices or in a noisy network
environment, use a shielded-type LAN cable.
Note
Use a router that is compatible with transmission speeds of 16 Mbps or faster to enjoy Netflix. If the transmission
speed is less than 16 Mbps, 4K content is streamed at a lower image quality.

Turning on the 4K Media Player
Turn on the 4K Media Player by following steps below.
1. Connect the AC adapter to the 4K Media Player ( ), then connect the AC power cord (mains lead) to the AC
adapter ( ) and to a wall outlet (mains) ( ).
When removing them, do so in the reverse order.
After connecting, wait for about 30 seconds until the 4K Media Player enters standby.

2. Press
(on/standby) on the remote control to turn on the 4K Media Player.
You can also turn on the 4K Media Player by pressing
(on/standby) on the 4K Media Player.
The Initial Setup screen appears on the TV screen after a short while when you turn on the 4K Media Player for the
first time.

Audio signals are output from either the HDMI OUT 1 (for AUDIO VIDEO) jack or the HDMI OUT 2 (for AUDIO) jack.
When [Audio from HDMI OUT] is set to [HDMI OUT 1] (factory default setting), audio signals are output from the HDMI
OUT 1 (for AUDIO VIDEO) jack along with video signals.
When [Audio from HDMI OUT] is set to [HDMI OUT 2], audio signals are output separately from the HDMI OUT 2 (for
AUDIO) jack. Set this function to [HDMI OUT 2] if connecting an AV receiver to the 4K Media Player via the HDMI OUT 2

You can reset the all settings of the 4K Media Player to the factory defaults. All settings you have configured will be
deleted.

2. Select [Yes].
A screen appears to show that the reset is in progress, followed by a screen to show that it is complete.
3. Select [OK].
The 4K Media Player restarts automatically.
Note
Before disposing of the 4K Media Player, clear all memorized settings using [Reset All Settings].
Hint
The RESET button on the front panel is used to restart the 4K Media Player. You cannot reset all settings of the 4K
Media Player to the factory defaults by pressing this button.

There is no sound.
Re-connect all connecting cables securely.
Make sure none of the connecting cables are damaged.
You can output audio signals from either the HDMI OUT 1 (for AUDIO VIDEO) jack or the HDMI OUT 2 (for AUDIO)
jack. Set the jack to output from by selecting
(Settings) – [Sound] – [Audio from HDMI OUT] from the Home menu.
The AV receiver input may automatically switch input from the TV. Manually set the AV receiver to output audio
signals input from the 4K Media Player.
Make sure that the TV and the AV receiver are not muted.

Sound output is interrupted.
If you connect your TV to an AV receiver and output audio signals from the 4K Media Player via the AV receiver using
the ARC (Audio Return Channel) function, sound output may be interrupted depending on the combination of devices.
In this case, connect the AV receiver to the HDMI OUT 2 (for AUDIO) jack of the 4K Media Player to output audio
signals.

Replacing the battery of the remote control
Replace the battery in the remote control with a new one if it is low by following the steps below.
1. Pull out the battery compartment by pressing the button with a thin, sharp object such as the point of a pen.
2. Replace the old battery with a new one.
Insert the new battery with the + side facing up.
