COPENHAGEN RENAISSANCE MUSIC FESTIVAL 2012
is dedicated to late Medieval and early Renaissance Music from
appr. 1200-1500. Read more about the theme on the website
and in the festival paper!
The festival's aim is to introduce leading international musicians to the Danish audience; to connect local and international
musicians; to provide meeting points between audiences, students and professional musicians; to generate knowledge and
inspiration through conferences and masterclasses; to mediate
new research on early music and its historical context; and to
promote and stimulate the interest in early music in general.
Copenhagen Renaissance Music Festival was established
in 2006 in connection with the Danish National Renaissance
Year and has over the years evolved into Scandinavia’s leading
festival for early music, specialised in repertoire from the late
medieval to the early baroque period.
Next years festival is planned for October 2013 and will be
exclusively dedicated to music by Carlo Gesualdo da Venosa and
his Napolitan contemporaries - in the 400 year commemoration
of Gesualdo's death in 1613. The festival will host concerts,
conferences, film screenings and workshops and will also
present new recordings with Napolitan music.
