INDUSTRALIZING AFRICA
ABOUT ACC-DFW
On behalf of the members and board of the African Chamber of
Commerce DFW it is my great pleasure to welcome everyone
participating in our 16th annual business forum. This forum is
focused on planting seeds of change and growth based on
collaborative endeavors of mutual benefit to individuals,
citizens, and governments of both Africa and American.
Mr. Sanmi
Akinmulero
The ACC-DFW promotes trade, commerce, education, and cultural exchange between
the United States and Nations of Africa in the Diaspora. We endeavor to make a
difference in the DFW Business Community, especially as it relates to building business
relationships between the US and Africa, eventuating to make a difference in the
communities they serve.
During the recent District Export Council Conference in Washington D.C., the Secretary
of Commerce promised to implement economic awareness to increase USA trade
exportations. As a member of the North Texas District Export Council I understood that
to be a call to our organization to get involved and frankly speaking, I believe Africa
would be the best place to start immediately.
The AEF is part of ACC-DFW's goal to provide economic stimulus through the
promotion of trade opportunities between Africa and the United States. In a recent report
from U.S. Department of Commerce, “Africa is home to seven of the ten fastest growing
economies in the world, and helping U.S. business expand their presence in these
African markets is a top priority for the Department of Commerce and the
Administration”.
The DFW area is home to approximately 250,000 African immigrants. DFW airport
is known as the international “Gateway to the Americas” due to its strategic business
location and travel access to all parts of the world. Opportunity for trade in Africa and
America is a bilateral force of recognizing the two entities’ ultimate goals.
Our 2014 forum will address and focus on the missing link – formulating immediate
bilateral trade diplomacy. Our goals focus on moving the continent to an industrialized
era through private public partnership efforts. Energy, Transportation, Agriculture,
Tourism and Culture should be at the forefront to immediately catapult economic trade
opportunities between the US and Africa (a two way street of economic exchange).
Africans are more interested in doing business with the U.S. compared to the rest of the
world however some data indicates the United States lacks effort in directing business
investments in Africa. This evidence should warrant an immediate look at what Africa
has to offer in accessibility and quality and this forum is an excellent opportunity for
businesses, governments, and leaders to connect the dots. AGOA is still alive but
needs all our support and promotion.
Thank you for joining us, we greatly appreciate your commitment to Africa on the Move.
