The Gala is the most critical fundraising event for the Dramatists Guild Fund, the
public charity arm of the Dramatists Guild of America. Historically, this very special
evening pays tribute to legendary writers and recognizes their significant
contributions to American theater.
This year’s lineup will include great writers honoring the stars who brought their
work to life. Past performers include Jon Cryer, Joel Grey, Jeremy Jordan, Liza
Minnelli, Bebe Neuwirth, Kelli O’Hara, Bernadette Peters, Chita Rivera, Ben Vereen
and more!
Past honorees include patrons of the arts Rosie O’Donnell, Don Loftus, and Roe
Green for their support of emerging writers for the theater.

Established in 1962, DGF’s mission is to aid and nurture writers for the theater;
to fund non-profit theaters producing contemporary American works; and to
heighten awareness, appreciation, and support of theater across the country. The
winner of the 2013 New York Innovative Theater Award for Stewardship, DGF seeks
to fuel the future of theater by supporting writers at all stages of their careers.
Each year, the Dramatists Guild Fund:
• Nurtures 10 emerging playwrights, lyricists and composers through an
immersive nine-month development program
• Grants emergency aid to over 30 writers in need
• Provides over 10,000 students and professionals with master classes in
writing at regional theaters and colleges
• Supports 150 non-profit theaters through grants to support new
American work, bringing theater to over 2 million audience members
