Holiday Hockey Tournament Rules
1. RULES: USA Hockey rules will apply except as noted herein.
The rules committee reserves the right to modify a rule herein which is deemed not in the best interest of the
tournament or amateur hockey. The decision of the rules committee is final.
2. FIGHTING: Any major penalty for fighting may result in Automatic Suspension from the tournament.
And any gross or match penalty will result in Automatic Suspension from the tournament.
3. TIMING: All games must begin on time! Please have your team prepared to play at least 15 minutes before
your scheduled starting time (players should arrive 30 to 40 minutes before game time).
4. EQUIPMENT: All players participating in Anaheim ICE tournaments must wear protective equipment that
meets the USA Hockey requirements.
5. JERSEYS: Home team is listed first on schedule and will wear white or light jerseys.
6. LOCKER ROOMS: Locker rooms will be assigned to teams from the skate counter.
Keys will be issued 30 minutes before scheduled game time.
Please keep the locker rooms as clean as possible.
Teams will be responsible for any damages done to the facility.
7. REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
a) USA/CAHA/Canada hockey official team roster copy
b) Team Roster with players name and jersey number (attached registration form)
c) Coaching Certificate Cards
d) USA/Canada Hockey Player Consent to Treat Medical Form
8. SCORING: Pool play and all teams are expected to play all their scheduled games.
Two points will be awarded for a win, one point for a tie.
In case of a tie in the number of points, the order of finish for each bracket will be determined by:
1. Most Wins
2. Head to head competition
3. Fewest total goals allowed
4. Fewest penalties awarded overall
5. Coin Flip
9. GAME FORMAT:
• All games will consist of three 17 minute stopped time periods.
• The ice will be resurfaced every 2 periods.
• There will be an 1 minute break between periods when the ice is not being resurfaced.
• Teams may return to their locker room when the ice is being resurfaced.
• Teams are asked to be prompt taking the ice before the game resumes after being resurfaced.
• Every effort will be made to keep the tournament on schedule.
• There will be no overtime periods in pool play.
• Overtime (Semi-finals and Finals Only): 4 on 4, 5 minute running time period. If still tied, 3 man shootout.
Each coach is to select 3 players to shoot, most goals wins. If tied after round of three, it becomes a single
player sudden death shootout until a winner is determined. No player may shoot twice until all players have
shot once.
• Honda Center Games will be 3-15 minute stop time periods with no ice cut.
• At the beginning of the third period or at any time during the third period there is a 5 goal differential the
game will go to running time. However, if the game returns to a 2 goal differential, the last 2 minutes will go
to stop time.
• One (1), one (1) minute time-out will be allowed for each team in each game.
• No protests will be allowed.
• All decisions of the tournament director and his staff will be final.
• Neither JSerra Catholic High School or the Ice Lions Hockey Program shall provide any medical insurance
for participants, team officials, or fans. Medical facilities/area hospitals are available if needed. No on-site
emergency medical staff will be available. Each team is asked to supply its own first-aid equipment and
support. Emergency medical assistance can be obtained by dialing 911.
