Each Flight Attendant is responsible for notifying the Base Planner if there is a change
to your absence status, additions or deletions of qualifications, updated fingerprints, or
updated passports after the 15th of the month.
Your Base Planner must be notified no later than the 19th of the month in order to
receive a bid. Please be aware that if your plan to clear date changes to an earlier date that
you must notify your Base Planner in order to be awarded a bid. If you extend your plan to
clear date though the end of the bid month, please contact your Base Planner because you
will not be active for bidding.

Monthly Bidding Options
SABRE – DECS bid entry. Use HIB to enter your bids directly
to Sabre.
Online Bidding also referred to as the Flight Service Online
Bidding Tool uses a “wizard” approach. The tool allows bid preference
input and sorts bid lines accordingly. ALWAYS CHECK HIB AFTER BIDS
LOAD FROM THE ONLINE TOOL FOR ACCURACY.
Third Party Bid Upload link provides access to 'WebBid', which
is a basic bid input tool.
Tablets - At this time bidding on your tablet is not an option.
The tools are located on the Flight Service Web Site; Choose the Bidding
link.
All methods of bid input are acceptable when bidding the monthly
allocations. A flight attendant must always verify their bids in HIB. The
DECS ballot is the ballot of record.
• To ensure your Flight Attendant Tablet is up to date, please leave your Tablet on,
charging, and out of airplane mode when not in flight.
• If you do not see your 4G connecting, either toggle in and out of airplane mode or
open and refresh the USA Today app. This will help with your 4G connectivity.
• If your Tablet is not on My Flight version 1.5.8, please contact the Help Desk to
push all pending updates to your device. Tablet bars are also available system
wide to assist.
• Do not wait until you get on the aircraft to verify your eManual is up to date.
Please update your Tablet before your trip.
• Make sure you have your Tablet with you before you leave the aircraft.

Increase Water on AM/PM FFS Flights continues to be a top issue in the Caribbean and Domestic Markets
FAs reported that the coffee packs break easily when opening pouch and while brewing
FAs reported that they receive too many cocktail glasses on the Transcon flights in FC and BC on the 321T.
FAs reported that they were missing the fork for the dessert cake on domestic flights.
Need extra silverware in utensil drawer. FAs stated that they need extra silverware for passenger incidentals.
FAs reported missing carafes on flights. FAs stated they need carafes to serve juice and water.

Safety First - Tips for the Month
1. Wet leaves are slippery so remove them from
sidewalks, walkways, and porch steps. When
raking leaves be sure to wear thick work
gloves to protect your hands against splinters
and blisters. When lifting heavy bags full of
wet leaves, you use your legs and knees to lift rather than your back
2. Just because you have a hands-free handset for your phone does not
mean that you are safe. In fact, a hands-free handset can cause just as
much distraction as holding the cell phone itself. Driving involves concentration and talking on a cell phone, whether you are holding it or
not, takes away from that concentration.
3. Did you know that 21 percent of fatal car crashes to drivers from ages
16 to 19 are the result of cell phone usage? It’s up to you to help protect the lives of your teenage children. Make a contract with them stating that if they use a cellphone while they drive, they will lose the privilege to have a cellphone, to drive, or both. This kind of discipline may
not be part of your normal parenting style, but the risk requires extreme
measures in this case.
4. Don't forget your protective eyewear when playing sports or doing any
activity where objects might be hurled toward your eye. And whenever
you're in the sun, wear sunglasses that block out ultraviolet light.
5. As cooler autumn weather moves in, the Chimney Safety Institute urges
homeowners to get a chimney inspection. It can help eliminate the risk
of chimney fires or carbon monoxide poisoning.
6. According to the Fire Protection Association, heating equipment is the
second leading cause of home fires. As the weather cools down, use ex-
tra caution. Keep people, pets, and
furniture at least three feet away
from space heaters.
7. In less than 30 seconds, a small
flame can get completely out of control and turn into a major fire.
Smoke alarms can save your life in a
fire, but only if you have enough of
them and only if they work. There
are several questions that should be
answered when you consider your
smoke alarms: Do you have enough
smoke alarms in your home? How
old are they? Are they in the right
places? Do they have a new battery
in them?

Japan Flights Arrival Announcement Effective October 1
With flu season just around the corner, we encourage all employees and
their family members to take preventative measures to protect their health;
including getting an influenza vaccination at one of the many sites that offer
one. You can get your free shot here at DFW Mon-Fri, 9-5 at AA Medical,
Gate 39, Ramp Level room A106.
The Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare has requested all carriers operating into Japan deliver an announcement to passengers who may have
visited west Africa over the last 21 days prior to their arrival in Japan. In NRT
there is a Quarantine office and check point all passengers pass through before reaching Immigration. Passengers who may have visited west Africa are
asked to contact the Quarantine office, and airlines are required to report
any health issues there. It is fortunate there have been no reports of Ebola
in Japan; authorities would like to ensure they maintain this status. Therefore it is beneficial for airlines to cooperate with the authorities to make a
PA before arrival to advise customers. Please deliver the following announcement prior to arrival in Japan, and ensure the Japanese speaker
translates the announcement.
New Aircraft Door Procedures Videos Now Available Online
In preparation for the new Departure/Arrival procedures that will go into
effect with Revision 95 on October 20, 2014, for all legacy American Airlines
flight attendants, HDQ has posted the training videos online for your review.
We will be playing them in all DFW operations area to help with the transition. The videos will also soon be available on the FA tablet and they will
send an email when they are.

Widebody New Departure & Arrival Procedures
These changes include cabin readiness for departure, door opening and
closing procedures and new arrival procedures. You may view these videos,
as well as a number of previous training videos on the Flight Service website

Liquor Carts Reminder – Canada/Mexico/Caribbean
We were recently fined by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) for
liquor carts not being sealed while an aircraft was on the ground in Toronto
(YYZ) Canada.
As a reminder, on flight departing from Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean;
liquor carts/kits must be sealed and all open containers must be emptied
and disposed of prior to arrival and must remain sealed at all times while
the aircraft is on the ground until customer boarding begins. First Class liquor carts may be opened once customer boarding begins for the purpose of
serving pre-departure beverages.
For additional guidance, please refer to Food Prep and Presentation 1.11 in
your Inflight Manual.
JAPAN ARRIVAL ANNOUNCEMENT:
Welcome to Japan, the Ministry of Health and Welfare has requested all passengers who have visited west Africa within the last
21 days visit the Quarantine office prior to clearing the immigration checkpoint. Thank you for your cooperation.
Be Pink Online Auction Results
Thanks to everyone that participated in the Be Pink online auction! We
raised a record setting $25,954 with almost 3,500 bids. Our top five items
totaled over $6,000 and included dinners with Scott Kirby and Doug Parker,
an afternoon Harley ride with Elise Eberwein, wine tasting with the
Philipovitch's and a two-night stay at the Park Hyatt hotel in NYC. There are

reports of renewed extremist threats against the West, this is a good time

IDF INTERNATIONAL CQ TRAINING
NOV 2014
----- CQ Recurrent Training Update ----2014-15 CQ Training is a two day program as follows:
Day One: Will begin at Flagship University (FSU). Check-in will be in the CQ Training Hall 2E40D
 Class 1 FA Tablet Checks / Drill Practice Session begins at 1200 and class start time is 1330
 Class 2 FA Tablet Checks / Drill Practice Session begins at 1630 and class start time is 1800.
Please arrive early enough to allow time (at least 20 min) for your Flight Attendant Tablet eManual to be checked prior to class start time.
Day Two: Will begin at the Flight Academy
 Class 1 begins at 0700 and class end time is 1030.
 Class 2 begins at 1130 and class end time is 1500.
Drill videos will not be shown at the Flight Academy; however; they are available on the Flight Service website and Flight Attendant tablet. Flight Attendants
should review these videos prior to attending Training. To access the drill videos, click the media link on the Flight Service Website.
For more information please refer to the “What to Expect” Document located on the Flight Service Website under Recurrent Training. Flight Attendants are
expected to be familiar with the material contained within the FA Tablet eManual Revisions and Bulletins on their effective date and may be
evaluated on this material while at CQ Training.
WHEN TO ENROLL IN CQ TRAINING:
Each flight attendant is responsible for knowing when his/her qualifications will expire and ensuring any required training is completed when due. Flight
attendants are expected to attend CQ Training in their Base Month. CQ Training may not be postponed into the Grace Month unless you are on vacation,
sick, LOA, injury, personal or operational emergency during your Base Month. ***Flight Attendants who do not attend training in their base month will be
pre-plotted in their grace month. ***



To verify your base month, refer to your *9 Training Record. (In your personal mode in DECS, enter HI*9)
It is recommended that you do not alter your schedule until after you have scheduled training. Altering your schedule could make you illegal for
training and may result in trip removal without pay to accommodate training.
Classes are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis and fill quickly. It is best to enroll early. Classes at the beginning of the month typically have openings.
Please try to schedule yourself into a class in the first half of the month, if possible.

If NOV is your Grace Month, you must enroll in CQ Training before bids open for
enrolled.

Crew Manning will not award a live bid to any flight attendant who will not be qualified on the first day of the new bid month. If





Month, you must notify the Base Planner no later than NOV 19 if you have been scheduled for training to be awarded a bid. Flight attendants
returning from a Leave of Absence (LOA) must notify the Base Planner and Pay Comp of training and return to work dates.
Flight attendants who do not attend CQ Training by the end of their Grace Month will be required to complete the Requalification Training online lesson
prior to CQ Training. This lesson must be completed in the same month as CQ Training. You cannot fly until this is accomplished.
If you attend CQ Training in the month prior to your base month, your HI*9 (training record) will be updated to reflect the first day of your current base
month
If you attend CQ Training in your grace month, your HI*9 (training record) will be updated to reflect the last day of your current base month
To realign your Base Month, you must attend CQ Training at least two months prior to your Base Month.
For example, if JUN is your Base Month, you must attend CQ Training by APR to realign your Base Month.
Flight attendants may not realign CQ Training into a reserve month due to limited reserve slots.

 Self-enrollment will be activated at 0900 CST OCT 28.
 TSD call-in enrollment will begin at 1100 CST OCT 29.

 Grace month trade requests will be handled on OCT 30.
 Reserve Flight Attendants may self-enroll on days IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING
a duty-free period.
 Requests for enrollment or changes must be received no later than three (3) full
business days before the scheduled training date.
 The TSD is open Mon – Fri, 0700 – 1800 Central Time.
SELF-ENROLLMENT (in DECS)
 To self-enroll, enter your personal mode in DECS. Enter HIU/class# <enter>.
The response will be “OK” if you have successfully enrolled.
 To view class numbers, in your personal mode in DECS, enter HITJ/START
DATE/END DATE <enter>. The response will be title, class roster #, dates,
times and base. If there is no class information on listing, all classes are full on
the requested date.
 To view individuals in a class, enter HIV/CLASS # <enter>
AUTOMATED SELF-ENROLLMENT (AVRS)
 Dial 1-800-VIP-CREW or 817-956-CREW.
 Enter first 4 characters of your password, followed by employee number.
 Enter hot-path 9-5-1-1.
LIVE CHAT or HISEND Form 100

You may contact the Training Support Desk (TSD) via LIVE CHAT from the Flight Service Website or complete a HISEND form 100 during the self-enrollment period.
CLASS CANCELLATION / FAILURE TO ATTEND TRAINING
Class cancellations must be made no later than three (3) full business days prior to the scheduled training date. Flight attendants who cancel within 24 hours of
class or who do not show for training will receive a missed assignment (MA). Additionally, if you are on reserve and would have been available to fly on the dates
scheduled for training, you will be available for flight assignment. You must contact Crew Schedule and inform the scheduler of any changes to your status. Failure
to do so may reduce your monthly pay guarantee.
HOTEL AND TRANSPORTATION
Hotel information is located on the Flight Service website. Click on Training, then Lodging Info under the CQ Training header. Information is posted one week prior
to the scheduled class date. It is recommended that you check hotel information the day before you travel to be sure you have the most up-to-date information.
The lodge is no longer accepting personal checks. An ATM is available in the lobby for your convenience.
TRAVEL
If you have self-enrolled in a CQ Training class, flights to/from training will automatically be booked from your base station (EXCEPTION DFW/IDF SINCE THEY
ARE LOCAL).
To access your flight information in DECS, type:
 HSS/1/sequence#/ddmmm. Your name should also appear on the crew ”NS” deadhead list for each American Airlines segment.

Irregular Operations (IROPS) & CANCELLATIONS
For local FAs who are driving to training: The South parking
lot at the Flight Academy (adjacent to the pool area) is a restricted
parking lot and has curbs which are painted blue.
Cars without a blue Flight Academy hang-tag displayed from the
rear view mirror will be ticketed and/or towed. Flight attendants
may park in the East parking lot in front of the C.R. Smith
Museum which has yellow curbs. Although the parking spaces
are labeled “Reserved”, you may park in these areas without risk
of being ticketed or towed.
FAs are required to stand by for all departing flights for the remainder of the day up to duty time (14 hrs. Domestic, 14 hours International)
Upon arrival at your base/home, should you have a trip the next day or are on RSV, please call scheduling at (800) 847-2739 or (800) VIP-CREW to inform them of
your arrival time and flight cancellation.
If you are not able to get on a flight home, call The Lodge at (817) 956-1000 and ask for accommodations.

Note: If you book to a later flight, call TSD as soon as possible and provide flight information so that TAFB can be adjusted.
REQUALIFICATION TRAINING
Requalification Training is required for Flight Attendants who are attending CQ Training after their grace month. Requalification Training is completed via an online
course titled RQT, While You Were Away. Contact the Training Support Desk at 1-800-VIP CREW, login, #, Option 6 for enrollment and complete details.
If you started online training prior to your base month, you will need to retake the lesson. Contact the TSD at 1-800-VIP-CREW, login, #, Option 6 to re-register.
2014-2015 CQ TRAINING PROGRAM

Class 1
Day One: Travel to DFW and report directly to Flagship University (FSU). Check-in will be in the (CQ) Recurrent Training hallway room 2E40D.
Transportation from DFW Airport – Lower Level by Gate C24 (Known Crew Member ID Portal)
Shuttle Pickup from DFW Airport: 1100, 1130, 1200, 1230, and 1300.




Check-in starts at 1200 and ends at 1330. Class begins promptly at 1330 (Late arrivals may not be admitted into class).

NOTE: Domestic Flight Attendants that hold International Qualifications MUST enroll in an INTL Class when going to CQRecurrent Training.
ONLINE TRAINING
All flight attendants must complete the online lesson(s) prior to attending CQ Training.
 All flight attendants must complete CQ Training 2014-2015 WBT.
 All FAs must also complete the CQ Training General Ditching 2014-2015 WBT.
 Flight attendants will not be admitted into training unless all online training has been completed.
 To complete online training, go to the Flight Service Website, click the “Training” link, and then click on the “Online Learning Center” link under Resources on
lower right hand side in RED print. This will take you to the Online Learning Center. Next, click on the course title under the “In-Progress Learning Activities”
(i.e. CQ Training 2014-2015) then click “Launch.”
 Be sure to print, take photo with your cell phone, or write down your confirmation code(s) and bring to training.
 You may start the online lesson(s) no earlier than one month prior to your base month: i.e., if your Base Month is NOV, you can start in OCT and the lesson
is still acceptable if you come in your grace month (DEC). However, if you go QI and began your online lesson prior to your Base Month, you must retake
the lesson. All online training must be complete prior to attending CQ Training.
 Online Learning Center does not support MAC, iPad, or other mobile devices. Internet Explorer (versions 6.0 – 9.0) is necessary to access online lessons.
Other web browsers, such as Safari, Mozilla-Firefox and AOL are not compatible with the Online Learning Center.

How to Prepare

What You Should Know About Trigger Training in a
Non-Trigger Month








In order to be eligible to attend Trigger Training, your name must appear
on the successful trigger list, which will be posted on the Flight Service
website – Training Page – Trigger Information.
In order to trigger for training, the aircraft or service that you desire must
appear on your base’s bid sheet.
You must be in an active status in order to trigger for training.
Training is scheduled on a first come, first served basis.
You need to have DO’s on your schedule because you cannot be trip
removed during a non-trigger month.
No trip removals also include reserve day removals and/or available day
removals.
You may not trigger for training on reserve months, however if you
successfully triggered in a non-reserve month you can attend trigger
training during a reserve month. In non-trigger months, you may attend
trigger training by relinquishing duty-free periods.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER FOR 737, 757 OR 777-200

Flight Attendants who would like to obtain an equipment qualification
on the 737, 757, or 777-200 aircraft, either in conjunction with
Recurrent Training or on a day off, may submit a web-ballot.
If attending aircraft training in conjunction with Recurrent Training, you
must schedule Recurrent Training prior to submitting a web enrollment
form.
Please place your desired dates of training in order of preference.
Flight Attendants on a reserve or available month can only attend on
days off. They must relinquish a duty free period to attend training and
they will receive training pay.
Voluntary enrollment will not involve trip removals.
737, 757, and 777-200 training is a one day training class. You will need

Second sequence added for November. Two selections with the sequences placed back to back for a four on four off cadence.
Increased frequency on DFW-LIR, DFW-SAL, DFW-MBJ and DFW-BZE. Two day trips placed back to back to the extent possible. Three Airbus
turnaround selections. Two 757 turnaround selections. Ten 737 turnaround selections.
Five PVG selections, one NRT selection and all GRU selections split and filled with Hawaii flying. Due to the increase in flying time on November 5th,
all Hawaii flying will require layovers.
Two mixed GRU/LHR selections. One EZE selections filled with a BCN fly out sequence. One EZE selection split and filled for three positions with a
MAD sequence. Change of equipment on the MAD trip from 767 to 757 effective 11/6. Three pure 767 turnaround selections. One CDG 767

the B90 flights for the first five days. There are also five lines with available days at the beginning of the month.
There are five lines with a utilization of 79.00. All five lines include one B90 trip at the beginning of the month due to a change of equipment on the 6th.
These five B90 trips will be covered for three positions and the 4th position will be in open time for a total of 137 hours.
There are 39 lines with utilization of 78.54.
There are four lines. The utilization average is 71.05.
Flying this month is in SJC and SMF. There are 7 lines in SJC with utilization of 77.17. SMF has five lines with utilization of 74.00. There is also a total
of 43 hours of open time in SMF.

Two schedules for the month: November 1st thru November 5th and November 6th thru December 1st (31 day bid month). Cadence and Purity is somewhat
inconsistent in both the Allocations and Bid selections due to the DST change on 2-November, schedule change on 6-November and the holiday cancellations for
Thanksgiving.
777 MIA: One MIA-LAX Transcon – Sequences cannot be built back-to-back due to home base rest requirements. # of Bid Lines = 4. Avg = 85:44. Total
positions = 40. OT = 0:00.
DFW:
Four turns – one of which is an all-niter, two 2-days – four of the 2-day Selections are built back-to-back (2 on each sequence). # of Bid Lines = 16.
Avg = 84:09. Total positions = 112. OT = 0:00.
LAX:
LAX has a total of 7 JFK Transcons: 4/1, 256/255, 32/19, 22/3, 180/117, 10/293, 30/185, and one LAX-MIA Transcon. Several Selections are built
back-to-back for longer blocks of days off. # of Bid Lines = 33. Avg = 84:14. Total positions = 202. OT = 0:00.
JFK:
JFK has a total of 8 LAX Transcons: 171/292, 9/118, 15/24, 33/34, 133/2, 181/172, 177/16, 21/12. Several Selections are built back-to-back for longer
blocks of days off. One new JFK-MIA turn is added on 6-November. Bid Selections are slightly mixed due to frequency no-ops, holiday cancels and
added spotting trips. # of Bid Lines = 35. Avg = 84:08. Total positions = 212. OT = 0:00.
MIA:
One MIA-MCO-MIA-DFW 2-day. Two of the Selections are built back-to-back. # of Bid Lines = 4. Avg = 77:40. Total positions = 28. OT = 0:00.
SFO:
SFO has a total of 3 JFK Transcons: 164/179, 20/85, 18/163. SFO-MIA 931/167 changed equipment to a 767 effective 6-November. The SFO-MIA Bid
Selections are split down to accommodate a 6 position SFO-JFK Transcon – due to over/under bid projection limits. Several Selections are built backto-back for longer blocks of days off. # of Bid Lines = 21. Avg = 82:34. Total positions = 100. OT = 0:00.
757/737
For the month of November we have a major schedule change on the 6th. And a time change on the 2nd plus holiday cancellations on the 27th. This has a negative
effect on the bidlines cadence and purity of the lines. Most bidlines are mixed by departure times and trip types. Below is a list of things that stick out for the
month. Flying was heavier at the start of the month.
BOS:
51 lines. Had to mix a few multiday trips with turns. Put some BOS/Lax trips back to back.
DCA:
46 Lines. Trip types are mixed as well as times. DCA has 39 lines, IAD has 10 lines, and BWI has 6 lines.
DFW:
189 Lines. Had to mix departure times tried to keep trip types together. We were able to put some 2day trips back to back. Had to mix all trip types to
get lines to utilization. I kept YVR turns together as much as possible. Some lines with 1 day off between trips due to the holidays.
LAX:
129 Lines. Had to mix departure times in bids. 10 San bids.
LGA:
122 Lines. Had to mix some departure times and trip. Tried to put the 2days back to back.
MIA:
156 Lines. 11 FLL, 11 PBI, and 0 ATL. Had to go back and add some turns into the multiday lines to reach needed utilization. ATL moved to S80.
ORD:
166 Lines. Put some 2 day trips back to back as requested by the base. Trip types are mixed due to the schedule change.
SFO:
38 Lines. Had to mix turns into 3 lines
SLT:
7 Lines. Was able to keep the big 3day trips together as requested.
