President encourages education for growth
President Hifikepunye Pohamba believes that the
Poly, by contributing to human capital development, is contributing to the improvement of social
and economic conditions in Namibia and ultimately the achievement of the country’s long term
developmental goals.
In his speech, read on his behalf by Deputy Prime
Minister, Marco Hausiku, at the Poly’s 19th Graduation
Ceremony last Friday, President Pohamba said that
education remains an important catalyst for improved
social and economic conditions. “Good education brings
about higher employment rates, higher personal
incomes, higher productivity and national income, as
well as higher creativity and entrepreneurship. Cumulatively, these are factors that will stimulate the growth of
our economy and positively impact the lives of our
citizens,” he said.
The President said that human capital development
remains critical for socio economic advancement and
that the transformation of the Poly to Namibia University of Science and Technology will greatly contribute
towards socio economic transformation in Namibia, as it
is expected that the envisaged university will play a
major role in the scientific and technological advancement of our nation.
President Pohamba congratulated the graduates
and commended them on their dedication and
commitment to education and personal improvement, and urged them to continue learning to
achieve greater professional and personal
growth as well as further development of their
skills.
Melody Mogane is awarded the Master of Leadership and Change Management
degree. She is hooded by Corneels Jafta, Poly Registrar.
“I encourage you to constantly seek opportunities to
expand your knowledge and improve your skills. Take
the initiative and be fierce advocates of change by
being lifelong learners and system changers,” the
President said.
