HIS Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al
Khalifa yesterday received a cable of thanks from the Custodian of
the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in
reply to his congratulatory cable on the Saudi National Day.

BDF Commander-in-Chief Marshal Shaikh Khalifa bin Ahmed
Al Khalifa met Indian Ambassador Mohan Kumar. Commander

Sawhney and Muscat-Resident Indian Defence Attaché to Bahrain Captain Arjun Dev Nair, in Bahrain marking the visit of a

out that these events reflected Bahraini people’s cohesion against
abusive campaigns aiming to smear Bahrain’s image, adding that
citizens’ condemnation and rejection of such claims have confirmed
the national unity.

SOCIAL Development Minister Dr Fatima Al Balooshi yesterday received head of the British Juvenile Welfare Agency Paula
Jacques and her delegation. The delegation invited the minister
to visit the UK to attend a juveniles care workshop in February.
n Fees to be unified
THE Nationality, Passports and Residence Affairs will unify its fees
with the Foreign Ministry from Saturday.
The amendment comes on implementation of the committee’s decision to adjust and rationalise expenditure, income and productivity
in ministries and government offices.

yesterday received newly-appointed Japanese Ambassador
Kiyoshi Asako who presented a copy of his credentials. The
minister hailed friendly ties and affirmed Bahrain’s keenness to

The Cabinet also approved
two draft laws on amending
articles on the organisation
of the labour market, and
the establishment of a work
fund.
The amendments are designed to allow the representation of Bahraini workers in
both the Labour Market Regulatory Authority and the Labour Fund, in view of the recent amendment to the Trade
Unions Act.
12 facing trial
over killing of
police officer
n Royal Guard Commander Colonel Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad
Al Khalifa yesterday visited the Royal UK Navy amphibious
transport dock ship HMS Bulwark currently stationed in
Bahrain, in the presence of Royal Guard Special Force
Commander Major Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa.
THE Public Prosecution has
completed its investigation into
the killing of police officer Mahmoud Fareed, Chief Prosecutor
Nawaf Al Awadhi said, adding
that 12 suspects, including eight
in absentia, will stand trial at the
High Criminal Court.
He said the first suspect had
set up a terror group, which was
joined by the other defendants
to target security forces and kill
them.
They monitored movement
and timing of the security vehicle at the marine entrance of
Eker to choose the most suitable
place to plant an explosive to destroy it and kill policemen.
The suspects will stand trial at
the court on November 17.

Quran contest winners honoured
HER Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint
Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Supreme Council for
Women president and wife of His Majesty King
Hamad, deputised the council’s vice-president
Dr Shaikha Mariam bint Hassan Al Khalifa to
attend a prize distribution ceremony of a Quran
recitation contest at Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre.
It was organised by the Justice, Islamic Affairs and Endowments Ministry and the Su-
preme Council for Islamic Affairs.
She distributed certificates and awards to 60
winners, 12 arbitration panel members and 10
organising committee members.
Dr Shaikha Mariam praised the efforts of
the ministry to support Quran memorisation
centres in the kingdom. She urged students to
memorise and study the Holy Quran and its
sciences to understand the tolerant values and
teachings of Islam.
