October 15, 2014
Dear Bishop Fenwick Families,
My name is Mrs. Susan Swackhammer and I am the Student Service Administrator at
Bishop Fenwick School. I have been a staff member of the Zanesville Catholic Schools for 13 years. After
teaching 1st grade at Bishop Fenwick for the past 4 years I was presented with a wonderful opportunity
to apply and interview for the Student Service Administrator position at Bishop Fenwick School. Once I
was offered and accepted the job I began working with Mrs. Sagan. Below is a description of my job and
you‘ll see that my main focus is our students.
JOB SUMMARY‐Under the supervision of the Principal, the Student Services Manager is responsible for
student admissions, student discipline and communications focusing on developing student success.
The manager also manages and directs activities directly related to students.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
*Overseeing the Admission Process of Bishop Fenwick School *Administering all placement assessments
to newly enrolled students *Organizing all admission paperwork *Following up with Parents once
student has been admitted *Organizing Parent Information Night *Student Discipline
I have been working with our teachers in grades K‐8 in order to implement the best policies and plans to
ensure a Catholic valued and safe academic environment for your children. I ask that you help by
following these few guidelines:
1. Talk with your child: as a mother myself I know it is difficult to get more than one word answers
from children about their school day sometimes. Even with busy schedules it is important to let
them know that you are concerned and involved in their school day.
2. Talk with your child’s teacher: if a behavior or academic concern arises please contact the
teacher by calling the office or via email.
3. Talk with me: I want to help in any way I can, just please make sure you have spoken to your
child and their teacher first.
I would love to hear from you if you have any questions or concerns. Please call the office or send
me an email. [email protected]
Sincerely,
Mrs. Susan Swackhammer

NANCY RIDENOUR My name is Nancy Ridenour and I am happy to accept a nomination for
a seat on the Board of Directors. My husband Bruce and I live in New Lexington and are parishioners
of St. Rose of Lima. Our children, Max and Drew, both attended St. Rose Catholic School and are
current students at Bishop Rosecrans. Max is a senior and Drew is a freshman. I attended Bishop
Rosecrans in the 80’s (not that long ago!). I graduated from the University of Dayton with a degree in
Education. After teaching for a few years, I took a career change and graduated from Capital Law
School. I am currently an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney in Perry County. I have held this position
for more than a decade. In addition, I serve as Magistrate in Mayor’s Courts in several jurisdictions in
Perry County. The following is what I believe I can offer the Board: I have a common sense approach
to problem solving, I know and appreciate the struggles that exist in our Catholic schools and above
all, I am a strong proponent of Catholic Schools. I have previous experience as I was a member of the
St. Rose school board for at least 3 terms. Now that both of our children are attending Bishop
Rosecrans, I have the time to devote to this endeavor, I thank you for your consideration.

16 years. I earned my B.A. from Wilmington College, my M.A. from the University of St. Mary and
my M.Ed. from American Public University. I was a high school social studies teacher for nine years
and I have spent the past five years as high school counselor. My years spent as an educator have
allowed me the opportunity to be involved with the many facets and changes of education. I was a
member of the Ohio Council for Social Studies; I have worked with non-profit organizations who are
involved with the changing face of education in Ohio (Battelle for Kids) and the Race to the Top and
Straight-A Grants for education in Ohio. I am very familiar with academic expectations of colleges and
the testing requirements schools now face. I feel that we are very lucky to have the Catholic Schools
of Zanesville which provide our children with a spiritual and excellent education. I am an advocate of
a rigorous yet balanced education that enables our students to be competitive after they graduate. I
know keeping the Catholic Schools of Zanesville vibrant requires financial resources and programming
that make us the “best” choice for student success, spiritual growth and development.
