Blue Water Café + Raw Bar, Vancouver BC
Jan Hudec – CAlgary, AB (Banff Alpine Racers)
Hudec made history in 2014 when he became the first Canadian in 20 years
to win an alpine Olympic medal after tying for bronze in the super-G in Sochi,
Russia. Hudec's ski career is a testament to his perseverance, having fought
back from multiple major knee surgeries and other serious injuries.
Nicknamed Panda, he became the first Canadian to win the Lake Louise
World Cup downhill in 2009. He also claimed a world championship silver
medal that year.
Marielle Thompson – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
At the age of 21, Thompson added the title of Olympic champion to an
incredibly impressive resume which includes being the reigning world
championship silver medalist and junior world champion. In 2012 she
became the first Canadian to win an individual ski cross Crystal Globe as the
overall World Cup champion, a title she successfully regained in 2014. She
currently has six World Cup victories to her name and 14 podiums.
Manual Osborne-Paradis –Vancouver, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
A richly talented speed skier who is famed for his fun-loving, larger-than-life
personality, 'Manny' has three World Cup wins to his name – including his
famous victory in Lake Louise, Alta., in 2009. The North Vancouver, B.C.,
native, who grew up skiing in Whistler, B.C., but lives and trains in Calgary,
Alta., enjoyed a superb comeback season in 2012-13, narrowly missing a
podium in downhill in Kvitfjell, Norway, and claiming the Canadian downhill
title. Away from the ski hill Osborne-Paradis is known for his community work,
which includes running an annual ski camp for kids with teammate Mike
Janyk in Whistler. He's also an avid golfer.

W ELCOME FROM ACA
Welcome to the 9th annual Rio Tinto Alcan Peak to Peak Dinner and Auction.
On behalf of Alpine Canada Alpin, I am writing to thank you for your ongoing support
of ski racing in Canada.
As you know, British Columbia has had a rich history of developing world-class ski
racers who have accomplished great success with Alpine Canada at the World Cup,
World Championship and Olympics. This past February, our alpine, para-alpine and ski
cross teams secured Eleven Olympic and Paralympic podiums, more then any other
Canadian winter sports discipline.
Our athletes’ accomplishments are due to the support we receive from the extended
Alpine Canada family. Our athletes’ success can be attributed to the passionate
commitment of parents and families, as well as ski clubs and your provincial ski
association. For this we owe you our deepest gratitude.
The results our athletes achieved this past season is a reminder of how sport can inspire
and motivate a community to come together to enable our athletes to win on the
world stage!
In partnership with B.C. Alpine, we thank you for your continued support for our sport.
Warm Regards

Alpine Canada’s Olympic Medallists
Ashleigh McIvor – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
As the first female Olympic gold medalist in her sport, McIvor has become
the face of women’s ski cross. Her profile extends beyond the sporting world,
having worked with top fashion photographers, strolled down a runway in
New York and starred in major advertising campaigns. McIvor, who grew up
in Whistler chasing boys down the hill on skis and mountain bikes, is a former
ski cross world champion and X Games silver medalist.
Morgan Pridy – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
A young speed skier from Whistler, B.C., Pridy enjoyed a breakthrough 201213 season as he claimed six Nor-Am Cup podiums and won the super-G and
super combined titles. The former B.C. Ski Team member comes from a skiing
family.
Robbie Dixon – Whistler, BC (Whistler Mountain Ski Club)
One of Canada’s most gifted speed skiers, Dixon has come agonizingly close
to a first career World Cup podium and it may only be a matter of time
before he joins the ranks of the Canadian Cowboys. The fun-loving Whistler,
B.C., native, who made his Olympic debut on his home hill in 2010, has 11
top-10 finishes on the World Cup circuit. Dixon suffered a serious leg injury
before the start of the 2012-13 season and is working his way
back to fitness.
Ben Thomsen – Invermere, BC (Windermere)
Thomsen’s emergence as a World Cup star would not have been possible without great
perseverance and self-belief. With no team, no coach and no sponsors, he worked a series
of construction and landscaping jobs to keep chasing his dream of joining the ranks of the
elite. He had four top-20 World Cup and world championship results in 2010-11 and got his
reward when he was named to the Canadian Alpine Ski Team in the spring of 2011.
Technically-gifted and known for being fearless, he seems to thrive on the world's
most challenging courses. In February 2012, Thomsen announced his arrival
as a major talent with second-place finish in a World Cup
downhill in Sochi, Russia.
