Married with a grown-up daughter and a son who was educated at Barfield. Chief Executive of the human rights charity, Christian Solidarity Worldwide. Former chairman of governors of both Thurrock and Basildon FE College and Little Thurrock Primary School. Ordained minister. Keen football supporter, following Arsenal and Aldershot Town, where his son plays for the Juniors. Member of the Governance Committee and the Teaching & Learning Committee. Deputy Chairman: Mrs. Jane Perry Joined the Board of Governors in 2009. Married with two grown up children. Teaching experience in State and Independent sectors, most recently as Head of Learning Support at an Independent Boarding Prep School prior to retiring in 2008. Interests – music, gardening, antiques. Member of the Teaching & Learning Committee. Governors: Mr. Chris Carlier Joined the Board of Governors in 2012. Housemaster of Hillside, at Bradfield College. He teaches French and German and was assistant housemaster and Head of French before assuming the role of housemaster in 2005. Beyond the classroom, he coaches Hockey, Cricket and Squash , is a Kayaking instructor and a former officer in the CCF. In the holidays, Chris volunteers in the running of Christian Foundation Multi-Activity Holidays for prep school children and teenagers alike and he is a keen member of a local parish church. When time permits, he enjoys a good round of erratic golf, trying to outwit elusive trout in a local river and sharing a glass of fine French wine with friends. Mr. Paul Herrington Joined the Board of Governors in 2011. A Chartered Surveyor with 35 years experience in the Commercial Property and Finance markets; for over 12 years, Paul was MD of F&C Property Asset Management, responsible for property investment strategy, portfolio structures, financing, acquisitons and disposal of property assets for a number of FTSE companies. A Farnham resident for 25 years, married with 3 boys, an ex Round Tabler and keen on all sports. Mr. Philip Humphreys Joined the Board of Governors in 2012. Housemaster and Head of Geography at King Edward’s School, Witley. Married with two young children. He enjoys playing golf and cricket as much as his family will allow him to!! He is a member of the MCC and says there is nothing better than spending a day at Lords watching England winning – usually! Ms. Denise Le Gal Joined the Board of Governors in 2009. Daughter and son were educated at Barfield and then at St. Swithun's and Lord Wandsworth College respectively. Worked in the City of London and co-founded a local business. Is a Member of Surrey County Council, Waverley Borough Council and Farnham Town Council. Member of Finance & General Purposes Committee. Mrs. Sue Odell, BA (Ed) Joined the Board of Governors in 2011. Trained as a secondary English teacher; degree from Manchester University followed by Dip.Ed from St John’s College York. Has a family of 5 children (2 boys and 3 girls, last two being twin boy and girl). Returned to teaching in 1987 at Lanesborough School. Has been a Year 4 and Year 3 teacher and Librarian. Started Book Week at Lanesborough. Mr. Steve O’Neil Joined the Board of Governors in 2010. Married with three children, two of whom are currently at Barfield. Eight years service as a British Army Officer prior to Sales Director role within security consultancy. Interests – family, fitness and sport. Mr. Jeremy Smith Jeremy Smith joined the Board of Governors in 2013. He initially trained and qualified as a chartered accountant before joining the investment management industry, first as an analyst then latterly as a fund manager where he spent 15 years at Schroders. Now working as a stock broker for an investment bank. Jeremy is married with two children, both of whom are at Barfield in the Pre-Prep School.
