Intex successfully implements Nokia Siemens Networks’ MSAN equipment in Philippines Nokia Siemens Networks seeks help of its reputable channel partner to supply and deliver Multi Service Access Network and ensure success of its overall business Intex Telecom Systems is the leading services provider to the Philippines’ major telecommunications companies, transmission companies and enterprises. It is the longest surviving partner of Nokia Siemens Networks globally. One of the main successes of Intex was to facilitate the entry of Nokia Siemens Networks (Nokia 1988) into GSM Technology for SMART and GLOBE Telecom, when GSM was still at its initial stage of development. Intex is the sole supplier of Nokia Siemens Networks’ Multi Service Access Network (MSAN) Equipment to Eastern Telecommunications Philippines Inc. (ETPI) and also supplies microwave equipment to National Grid Corporation in the same country. It is also particularly competent in providing both installation and Network Implementation services for the mobile operators as they continue to expand. “Nokia Siemens Networks’ HiX5630 offers unparalleled technology while maintaining cost effective advantage among its competitors. Intex’s long partnership with Nokia Siemens Networks has given it the confidence for being able to successfully implement its Next-Generation Network in Philippines.” Edgardo L. Limon, President and CEO, Intex Telecom Systems Overview Nokia Siemens Networks initiated the deal with ETPI but to overcome the challenges faced, decided to appoint Intex based on its capability and reputation to efficiently supply MSAN and handle ETPI effectively. ETPI supports migration from DSLAM to full IP based network in delivering voice and data services as well as faster and higher capacity bandwidth to the existing subscribers. As a result, it is able to meet the increasing subscriber demands. In addition, it also helps to maximize installation of optical network by implementing services over IP network while optimizing the network capacity. However, Nokia Siemens Networks will be providing level3 CARE support to ensure smooth functioning of the overall deployment. Challenges • To support issues with previous DSLAM vendors due to End of life • To deliver cost effective services for Voice and Data using an IP Based network (NGN) • Maximize bandwidth capacity using easy to maintain and seamless deployment through IP based service delivery Enhanced Scalability and Bandwidth Capacity Multi-Service Design and Platform of Software Features allow ETPI to choose the service features of their subscribers, centralize monitoring, control and maintenance of MSAN via Nokia Siemens Networks’ Network Monitoring System. Moreover, it enables scalability of MSAN to adapt to increasing number of subscribers at minimum initial investment. Presently, Intex is in discussion with ETPI for the second phase of implementation and the deal is expected to be closed in the next few months. Solution Nokia Siemens Networks’ MSAN HiX5600 provides ETPI with seamless migration from legacy network, allowing delivery of Voice and ADSL to offer the following features: • Universal Service Slot for scalability of increasing subs • Mixed Configuration of traffic Cards / Modules up to maximum shelf capacity • High Performance – 24Gbps up to 48Gbps • Redundant control/switching card for M600/M1100 • Full service application feature such as QoS, advance security, infrastructure, protection and serviceability Copyright © 2011 Nokia Siemens Networks.
