We return to Pembrokeshire County Show for our fourth visit and planning is well
underway for a show that embraces all good things of a great Agility break.
Burns Pet Nutrition continues to support the Welsh Handler Of The Year and New
Champions Emma Haines and Diagemtas Dexter are sure to be back to defend their 2013
title. The Royal Canin Rest Of The World Challenge 2013 was won by a World Champion;
The Drontal Agility Challenge sees the rising stars of Agility gain a place at their first
final and new for 2014 The Animal Health Company Classic, a competition for all sizes of
Agility dogs together with KC graded classes for all sizes of dogs all on rubber contacts
supplied by First Contact & Premier equipment makes this an ideal summer Agility break.
In 2014 we are moving to a more central position within the County Show layout.
Camping and day car parking will still be a short walk to the Agility rings and we are able to
offer on site camping from Saturday 16th until Friday 22nd August.
Being part of the Agricultural Show 19, 20 & 21 August means each Agility competitor
is given a complementary entrance ticket to the whole show where there are miles of
shopping stalls and main ring attractions for you to enjoy each day as well as taking part
in competitive Agility for all ages and grades.
Our site in The Pembrokeshire National Park is a few miles from ‘The Pond’, where
18th century migrants crossed to the New World after embarking it is thought at Solva;
Henry Longshanks, Henry VIII’s father was born in nearby Pembroke Castle and Skomer
Island are just some of the must see West Wales attractions.
This event is indebted to the Red Jackets who are easily identified by the colour of
their jackets and who offer their services entirely voluntary to make this event work.
Their efforts have enabled more than to be £4500 to be given to the Red Jackets
charity choices. To continue this event we do welcome your applications to join the Red
Jackets so please get in touch NOW especially if you are young and new to Agility!

Commit to abiding by KC rules both in word and in spirit.
Consider the health and welfare of their dog to be of prime consideration.
Consider the health and welfare of other’s dogs as if they were their own and do
not commit any act that puts other people and their dogs at risk.
Commit to fair play, honesty and integrity as well as a competitive spirit.
Commit to being civil and courteous at all times to other competitors, judges, the
show management and ring party members.
Are respectful of decisions taken by judges and the show management.
Respect constructive criticism of their own behaviour.
Are prepared to be constructive in criticism of others should they feel the need
to comment on aspects of the running of a show, or the behaviour of another
competitor or their dog.
Do nothing to affect the impartiality of the show management or judges at the
show.
Take responsibility for the actions and behaviour of family members or guests
they invite into the precincts of the show.
Welcome and encourage newcomers to the sport and assist them in understanding
both the letter of and the spirit of the rules and code of conduct for agility.
Commit to having control over their dog at all times.
Only to enter for competition when their dog is ready.
Handlers who have a complaint about the actions of others should speak to the show
secretary. Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in handlers being
asked to leave the showground by the show management. By entering the show,
handlers acknowledge that they will do their utmost to comply with this voluntary
code of conduct.

August 2014 when they must be vacated.

Pembrokeshire was only one of the events that enjoyed his unstinting
support as I too found with the many events I have run including all the
Easter 'Egg'stravaganza's. In Gary's memory, 50p of each entry fee of the
Gary Woodham Memorial Agility class will be donated to Cancer Research.

Qualifiers Rules And Information
Burns Pet Nutrition Welsh Handler of the Year 2014 - Open to large, medium, small dogs
with handler and owner (inc. joint) resident since 01/01/14 or born, in Wales. Dogs must run in
both classes (104 & 208) for faults and times to be added together; the dog with least total
faults with fastest combined time wins. Eliminations are given 200 faults. In the event of a tie
with the same faults and time, a further Jumping round will held to determine the overall
competition winner(s). In the jumping class the winner of the Agility round will run last and so on
down to 12th place according to placing achieved. (Not size). One set of awards for each class.
Royal Canin Rest Of The World Challenge 2014 - Open to large, medium, small dogs Grades
3 –7 with handler and owner not resident or born in Wales. Dogs must run in both classes
(209 & 304) for faults and times to be added together; least overall faults with fastest
combined time wins. Eliminations are given 200 faults and in the event of a tie a further Agility
round will determine the winner. With thanks to Shawn Powell for the germ of inspiration!
The Animal Health Company Classic
A Dog Agility competition for small, medium and large dogs 3 –6 combined grades using a
steeplechase style course. The class must be judged using current Kennel Club rules and a course
must feature the Westcotts Water Jump. We encourage the use of walls, wells, brush fences
etc. Judges be creative! Each dog must run at its correct height under KC rules. The Show/
Judge may chose which height to start at and once the height has been altered to the next
height it is up to the judge if they accommodate a competitor request to jump a previous height.
Judges decision is final at heats. This is one class: Small, Medium and Large dogs are competing
against each other for one set of awards. Each host venue provides 5 winning partnerships to
take to the final. No reserves are needed. The Final will be held at Robin Hood Game & Country
Show, Newark on the 19th October 2014. There will be a warm up event in the morning followed
by a final in the afternoon in the main ring of the show.
Drontal Agility Challenge 2014
10 qualifying heats producing 50 finalists who compete at the Drontal Agility Challenge Grand
Final to be held on Sunday 28th September 2014 at The Malvern Autumn Show, Three Counties
Show Ground Malvern. Once a dog has qualified (i.e. 5 finalists per heat) this eliminates the dog
from taking a further finalist place in the Drontal Agility Challenge. Handlers may not qualify
more than one dog for the Drontal Agility Challenge final. Any surrogate handlers must be
notified in writing within 4 days of the last heat. NO amendments after this date and non-advice
will disqualify the partnership.
Anysize Classes - Entries to this class precludes entry to any other class on that day. One set
of awards for the class. Jump height set at maximum 350mm but subject to judge’s choice. No
long jump, tyre or weaves.
Helter Skelter – Judge’s obstacle choice normally set in a curved pattern.
Power and Speed – A two-part course. The first a series of obstacles that must be completed
without faults to allow progression to the second, which is timed and scored for the result.
Steeplechase – A course of jumps and tunnels only.
Youngsters Club Classes - Open to handlers who are under 18 on 19/08/14. Part A is for
handlers under 12 on the date and Part B is for all other young handlers, One set of awards per
part of class i.e. all sizes compete against each other. Max 2 dogs per handler and dog(s) may
only be entered into one part of the class.
Special Classes *
Societies may schedule classes other than those defined above as “Special classes”. The eligibility for
“Special” classes must be defined by the Society and included in the schedule. The word “Special” must be
included in the title of the class. Where special classes are classified for older and/or inexperienced dogs, the
height of the hurdles and the A-ramp, and the length of the long jump, may be reduced below the dimensions
specified in these regulations, in which case such dimensions must be included in the class definition in the
show schedule. Marking for special classes may deviate from marking for standard classes, but must be
specified in the schedule. Wins, places and clear rounds in special classes will not count towards agility warrant
points or grade progression at Kennel Club shows.
ELIGIBILITY AND SCHEDULE OF CLASSES
In the following definitions of classes First Prizes or other prize wins are those gained in standard classes at
any Kennel Club licensed Championship Agility, Premier Agility, Open Agility or Limited Agility Shows (i.e. special
classes and invitational events excepted). Only a first place with a clear round within the course time set by the
judge will count towards grade progression.
Agility classes to include contact obstacles and Jumping classes where there are not contact obstacles. With
this proviso classes are defined as follows: Grade

For owners, handlers or dogs which have not gained a first place in an agility class or three first places
in jumping classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Owners, handlers or dogs previously
qualified out of grade 1 (Elementary) are not eligible for this class.

Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grades 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and have not gained a first place in an
Agility Class or three Jumping Classes at Grade 2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows. N.B. Owners,
handlers or dogs previously qualified out of Grade 2 (Starters) are not eligible for this class.

Open to dogs which are not eligible for Grade 1 or 2 or have elected to progress on points from Grade
2 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows & dogs which are not eligible for Grades 4, 5, 6 or 7.

Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three Jumping Classes at Grade 3 or
elected to progress on points from Grade 3 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible
for Grades 3, 5, 6 or 7.

5
Open to dogs which have gained a first place in an Agility Class or three first places in Jumping Classes
at Grade 4 at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows and are not eligible for Grades 3, 4, 6 or 7.
Grade
6
Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of 3 first places at Grade 5 at Kennel Club licensed Agility
Shows, one of which must have been gained in an Agility (not Jumping) Class, and are not eligible for
Grade 3, 4, 5 or 7.
Open to dogs which have gained a minimum of four first places at Grade 6 at Kennel Club licensed
Agility Shows, two first places must be gained in Agility (not Jumping) Classes.
Grade
7
Class Structure. A Class may either be held as a Graded Class or a Combined Class. A Graded Class (G) may be
scheduled for one or more consecutive Grades with separate results and awards issued for each grade. A
Combined Class (C) may be scheduled for more than one consecutive grade with one overall set of results.
Progression. Progression from each Grade will require one Agility win or three Jumping wins in standard classes
at that grade, except that progression from Grade 5 will require 3 wins at Grade 5, one of which must be agility.
Progression from Grade 6 will require 4 wins at Grade 6, two of which must be agility classes. Results from
Combined Classes will only count towards progression from the dog’s current grade.
Points Progression. At the handler’s discretion a dog may progress up to Grade 4 by winning 100 points at each
grade, using the Agility Warrant points scheme, Regulation K3.c refers, except that there is no requirement for
a minimum number of agility points. If this method of progression is selected, the handler must ensure the Show
Secretary signs the dog’s Agility Record Book at the first show entered at the higher grade. There is no time
limit on this progression, however, once a dog has progressed, it cannot return to a previous grade. Progression
on points must be done prior to the closing date for entries. It is not possible to change a grade on points once
the entries have closed.
Standard Classes Only first prizes and points gained in standard classes at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows
may be used for progression through the classes. (A dog is only eligible for one grade). In defining the eligibility
of the owner or handler for Grade 1, the three jumping wins and points progression referred to in the definition
apply only to one dog and not an accumulation of dogs.
SHOW RULES AND REGULATIONS
1. Dogs entered at Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows must be registered at the Kennel Club in accordance
with Kennel Club Regulations for Classification and Registration B, or else registration or transfer of
registration must have been applied for. The registration number/ authority to compete (ATC) number will be
required for each entry.
2. All dogs registered and resident outside the UK must be issued with a Kennel Club Authority to Compete
(ATC) number before entry to the show/event can be made. All overseas entries without a Kennel Club
Registration number or an Authority to Compete number will be returned to the exhibitor/competitor.
3. Entry fees: All classes £3.20 per dog per class. NFC free (non-competing.) Minimum entry fee payment is
£7.80 per day. For overseas competitors all entry fees must be in £ Sterling and drawn on a London clearing
bank. Any cheques referred to drawer will be charged a £15 fee. All payments are non-refundable, unless you
provide medical or veterinary evidence that you or your dog cannot travel or participate before 24 June 2014,
where a refund is made a £15 fee will be deducted.
4. There is prize money in the classes detailed only.
5. Entries must be made on an entry form as directed.
6. The Committee reserves to itself the right to refuse entries.
7. Only dogs of 18 calendar months of age and over on the day of competition are eligible for competition at
Kennel Club licensed Agility Shows.
8. Not For Competition entries will be accepted for dogs aged four calendar months and over. Dogs must be
Kennel Club registered with their details recorded on the entry form.
9. No bitch in season is allowed to compete.
10. No person shall carry out punitive correction or harsh handling of a dog at any time within the boundaries
of the Show.
11. Dogs must not wear any type of slip, half-slip collar or lead when under test. A flat, close fitting, leather
or webbing collar is permitted, providing the only attachment is a plain identification panel as an integral
part of the collar i.e. not attached by a ring.
12. Should a judge be unable to fulfil the appointment to judge the Committee reserves the right to appoint
another judge.
13. No competitor shall impugn the decision of the judge or judges.
14. Some classes are sponsored and the sponsors name and logo appear in the class title.
15. Kennel Club standard marking regulations apply for all standard classes.
16. Anysize Classes Entries to this class precludes entry to any other class on that day. One set of awards for
the class. Jump height set at maximum 350mm but subject to judge’s choice. No long jump, tyre or
weaves.
17. The height limit for dogs. a. Large Dog classes - For dogs measuring over 430mm (1ft 5ins) at the withers.
b. Medium Dog classes - For dogs measuring over 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) and measuring 430mm (1ft 5ins) or
under at the withers. c. Small Dog classes - For dogs measuring 350mm (1ft 1.75ins) or under at the withers.
18. Judges at an Agility Show may not enter for competition a dog, which is recorded in their ownership or
part ownership; or handle a dog at the Show at which they are judging. Dogs will be disqualified if proved
to have been handled by the scheduled judge’s spouse or immediate family, or resident at the same
address as the scheduled judge.
19. Withdrawal of dogs from Competition: A dog shall be withdrawn from competition and removed from the
Show if it is: - a. bitch which is in season. b. Suffering from any infectious diseases or contagious disease. c.
Interfering with the safety or chance of winning of an opponent. d. Of such temperament or so much out of
hand as to be a danger to the safety of any person or other animal. e. Likely to cause suffering to the dog if it
continues competing.
20. In estimating the number of awards won, all wins up to and including 25 days (1st Show -25 July 2014, 2nd
Show – 26 July 2014 & 3rd Show – 27 July 2014) before the start of the competition, shall be counted
when entering for any class. For these purposes a competition shall be defined as all classes covered
within the same show schedule. In the event that a dog becomes eligible for the next grade at a
particular show, after the entry for that show has been sent, it is the competitor’s responsibility to
notify the show secretary at least 14 days before the date of the first show (5th August). The dog will
then be moved into the appropriate class (es) for the next grade. The dog must be moved into the
corresponding number of classes as were entered at the lower grade. If there are fewer or no classes
available for the next grade the competitor will be offered a refund of the entry fees
21. Should circumstances so dictate the Society, in consultation with the Judges, may alter arrangements as
necessary. Such changes and the circumstances surrounding them will be reported to the Kennel Club.
22. In the event that one of these 3 shows is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances, the club/society will
refund fees, less reasonably incurred expenses for that show day, on receipt of a stamped, addressed
envelope submitted within 1 month of the show date. This document lists 3 individual show schedules.
23. Food shall not be carried in the hand or given to a dog in the ring.
24. Should the judge deem a re-run is required, any result and/or faults gained in the previous run must be
discounted.
25. Separate entry forms must be completed by each owner and must signed by the owner or his authorised
agent in accordance with provisions specified thereon. Entry forms must be accompanied by the
appropriate fees.
26. Free Passes – All competitors will be provided with a free pass enabling them to enter the event at any
time of the day their competition is scheduled, but in the case of a dog owned in partnership only one
such pass will be issued.
27. Competition of Dogs Suffering from Contagious or Infectious Disease – No dogs suffering from infectious
or contagious disease or having been exposed to such disease during the period of 21 days prior to the
Competition may compete. Competitors infringing the Regulation will be liable to be fined and/or dealt
with under Kennel Club Rule A42.
28. It is the competitor’s responsibility to be available for their class and running order. Competitors must run
as close to their running order as possible. Failure to do so may be reported to the Kennel Club.
29. Animals in Event. No animal other than one officially entered shall be brought into the precincts of the
event during its continuance, except any dogs registered to assist the disabled, or dogs required for
educational or instructional purposes or by permission of the General Committee. However, at the
discretion of the show society, a dog brought to the show by a spectator may be admitted into the
precincts of the dog show, with the proviso that those in charge of the dog sign a declaration confirming
the dog is free from disease and that the dog will be kept under proper control at all times.
30. A pay on the day class will be held if time permits.
31. A practice ring may be available to dogs entered for competition at the show, if space allows. A
responsible adult with agility knowledge must supervise this ring.
32. All dogs at the shows’ are at the owner’s risk. Whilst every care will be taken, the committee will not
accept responsibility for loss, damage or injury, however caused to dogs, persons or property.
33. The person in charge of a dog must at all times ensure the dog is kept under proper control in ALL areas of
the show ground; this includes tethering and muzzling if appropriate. Dogs should not be tethered
near/ringside whilst a competition is in progress in that ring.
34. Agility equipment should only be used in the designated areas.
35. No dogs are to be off the lead at any time in the roadways and public areas unless designated.
36. No handler to have more than 3 dogs off the lead in the exercise area at any one time.
37. No toys, balls etc to be thrown in the exercise area unless area is designated.
38. Welfare of Dogs: An exhibitor (or competitor) whose dog is entered at a Kennel Club licensed event should
take all reasonable steps to ensure the needs of their dog(s) are met, and should not knowingly put their
dogs’ health and welfare at risk by any action, default, omission or otherwise. A breach of this Regulation
may be referred to the General Committee for disciplinary action under Kennel Club Rules and
Regulations.
39. Organisers of Open Agility shows may set a capping level on the entries to be accepted in any standard or
special class, and may decline entries received after the capping level has been reached. State if specific
classes are to be capped and the capping limit. The capping level must be set at a minimum of 250 entries
received. No max. level at which a cap may be set.
40. By entry form signature you grant to the organisers all rights and permission to use or appropriate his/her
and their dogs name biography, likeness, photograph, voice, performing persona, or other indicia of
identity for broadcast, telecast, cablecast, transmission or distribution in any format or media known now
or in the future.
41. Enjoy yourselves. Parents are responsible for the behaviour /safety of their children under 18.
42. Pembrokeshire County Show Rules may take precedent at this event in matters of access, H & S and the
running of the overall event.
