ART HOUSE MONDAY
CINEMA SERIES
The Art House Monday Cinema Series is a weekly event highlighting the many genres
of independent film. Past showings have included documentaries, indie films, limited
releases, and local productions.
I AM ELEVEN
Australian filmmaker Genevieve Bailey
traveled the world for six years talking with
11-year-olds to compose this insightful,
funny and moving portrait of childhood.
It weaves together deeply personal and at
times hilarious portraits of what it means to
stand on the cusp between childhood and
adolescence, that fleeting moment when
childish naiveté has faded, yet teenaged
self-consciousness has not yet taken hold.
These young minds, still unguarded and
remarkably honest, offer a powerful insight
into the future of our world.
Not Rated. Mild thematic elements (1:48)
LAND HO!
A pair of ex-brothers-in-law set off to Iceland
in an attempt to reclaim their youth through
Reykjavik nightclubs, trendy spas, and
rugged campsites. This bawdy adventure is
a throwback to 1980s road trip comedies,
as well as a candid exploration of aging,
loneliness, and friendship.
Rated R for language, sexual references and
drug use (1:48)
THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY
The Kadam family leaves India for France where they open a restaurant
directly across the road from Madame Mallory’s acclaimed haute
cuisine establishment. The resulting rivalry eventually escalates in
personal intensity until it goes too far. In response, there is a bridging of
sides initiated by talented cook Hassan Kadam, sous-chef Marguerite and
Madame Mallory herself, both professional and personal, that encourages
an understanding that will change both sides forever.
Rated PG for thematic elements, some violence, language and
brief sensuality (2:12)
DEAD SNOW 2: DEAD VS. RED
If the worst day of your life consisted of accidentally killing your girlfriend
with an axe, chain-sawing your own arm off, and watching in horror as your
closest friends were devoured by a zombified Nazi battalion, you’d have
to assume that things couldn’t get much worse. In Martin’s case, that was
only the beginning.
Rated R for strong bloody horror violence and gore throughout,
and language including some sexual references. (1:50)
PUBLIC DEBATE: BALLOT MEASURE 2
SPONSORED BY THE UAA SEAWOLF DEBATE PROGRAM & ALASKA DISPATCH NEWS
GENERAL ADMISSION $15 / RESERVED $17
A nation-wide reconsideration of America’s drug policy is underway;
November’s Ballot Measure 2 puts that consideration before Alaskans.
Should we continue to treat marijuana as a criminal problem or do other
models offer appealing alternatives? Colorado and Washington were
the first states to legalize the recreational production, sale and use of
marijuana, but long before they did so Alaska wrestled with the question
of how to balance the potentially negative effects of a popular intoxicant
with the personal liberties so important to what it means to be an Alaskan.
Join us for a public debate that will attempt to shed some light on this
complex controversy.

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES - 3D
Darkness has settled over New York City as Shredder and his evil Foot
Clan have an iron grip on everything from the police to the politicians. The
future is grim until four unlikely outcast brothers rise from the sewers and
discover their destiny as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The Turtles must
work with fearless reporter April O’Neil and her cameraman Vern Fenwick
to save the city and unravel Shredder’s diabolical plan.
Rated PG-13 for sci-fi action violence. (1:51)
HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON 2 - 2D
Set in the mythical world of burly Vikings and wild dragons, and based on
the book by Cressida Cowell, the action comedy tells the story of Hiccup,
a Viking teenager who doesn’t exactly fit in with his tribe’s longstanding
tradition of heroic dragon slayers. Hiccup’s world is turned upside down
when he encounters a dragon that challenges he and his fellow Vikings to
see the world from an entirely different point of view.
Rated PG for adventure action and some mild rude humor (1:52)
