Reverse Annuity Mortgages Reverse Annuity Mortgage (RAM) programs are loans which allow homeowners, who need extra money, to tap the equity in their homes. Unlike regular home-equity loans, there is no need for the borrower to make monthly payments to the lender. Repayment may either be made on a pre-determined date or the date when the homeowner ceases to occupy the home. The lender generally makes monthly payments to the borrower, although lump sum loans and lines of credit can sometimes also be arranged (and the borrower will still not need to make monthly payments). You can link to the CHFA website at www.chfa.org/Elderly/elderly.asp for more information on properties and borrowers that are eligible or you can call directly Single Family Underwriting at 860571-3502. Corner From the Desk of Amy Patterson The CARES group activities are designed to promote wellness for those seniors who are in need of enhancement and maintenance of productivity in socialization, mobility, cognition and quality of life. October will be the month of haunting mysteries for the CARES group. Mentally stimulating Who Am I?, Who Done It?, and other "Solve" it activities will challenge our members as well as a Mystery Biography, "Boo-tiful" clues, and Harvest Moon word mining. To top off the month, CARES will embark on a Mystery Trip before the frosts of the fall months make travel more difficult. An episode of Murder She Wrote, with the wonderfully talented Angela Landsbury, will show how she solves a criminal investigation. Also, this being the anniversary year of the premiere of The Wizard of Oz, we will "follow the yellow brick road" with Judy Garland and the entertaining characters to the Land of Oz.
