One lane will be closed at the following locations during the inspection: Monday I-95 south – between Exit 140 (Rt. 630/Stafford) and Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) Tuesday I-95 north – between Exit 133 (Rt. 17/Falmouth) and Exit 140 (Rt. 630/Stafford) Interstate 95 (Update) Wednesday - Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; crews will be performing a routine safety inspection on the Route 610 bridge over I-95 located at Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville). A single lane closure will be in effect on I-95 south between 9 a.m. – noon and again on I-95 north between noon and 3:30 p.m. Chatham Bridge (New) Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; crews will be inspecting the east and westbound side of the Route 3 bridge over the Rappahannock River at Chatham. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in each direction on the bridge. Route 3 Eastbound (Update) Monday, 6 a.m. – 6 p.m. and Tuesday – Thursday 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. ; motorists should expect lane closures, unmarked pavement and a rough driving surface on eastbound Route 3 from the Blue and Gray Parkway to the King George County line. Crews are milling, paving and line stripping in this area. Butler Road Sunday - Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; motorists should expect single-lane closures with flaggers on Butler Road between Carter Street and Route 1 for utility work. Blue and Gray Parkway Bridge (Update) Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be inspecting the east and westbound side of the Blue and Gray Parkway bridge over the Rappahannock River. Motorists will be restricted to one lane in each direction on the bridge. Route 656 (Greenbank Road) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.; Greenbank Road will be closed to through traffic between Banks Ford Parkway and the dead end. Crews will be performing utility work in this area. Greenbank Road will open to traffic at 6 p.m. each day. Routine Maintenance Activities Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations this week: Route 630 (Courthouse Road) – patching from Rt. 1 to Rt. 648 Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – patching Route 1 – brush cutting from Truslow Road to the Potomac Creek area Route 608 (Brooke Road) – brush cutting from Eskimo Hill Road to Marlborough Point Spotsylvania County Interstate 95 (Update) Friday, 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.; crews will be installing rumble strips along the shoulder on I95 south between Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) and Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg). One lane will be intermittently closed in this mobile work zone. Balls Bluff Boulevard (New) On Tuesday at 9 a.m. the newly installed traffic signal located at the intersection of Spotsylvania Parkway and Whiteheart Drive/Balls Bluff Boulevard will be placed in the flashing mode. On Thursday the signal will become fully operational. Motorists should be alert to the change in traffic pattern at this intersection. Beauclaire Subdivision – dig out base failures Ashby Woods Subdivision – dig out base failures Route 1 – shoulder work from the Southpoint area to the Carolina County line Route 1470 (Bloomsbury) – patching Route 622 (Fairview Road) – brush cutting from Rt. 738 (Partlow Road) to Rt. 601 (Lewiston Road) Route 614 (Duerson Road) – brush cutting Route 643 (Haley’s Mill Road) – machining dirt road Route 643 (Williams Lane) – machining dirt road Route 659 (Lanes Corner) – machining dirt road Route 721 (Grand Brooks) - machining dirt road Caroline County Routine Maintenance Activities (New) Monday – Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.; crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations this week. Route 601 (Golansville) – mowing and brush cutting Route 207 (Roger Clark Blvd.) – mowing Route 1 – mowing Route 663 (Shuman’s Road) – brush cutting Route 652 (Ruther Glen Road) – brush cutting Under Construction Spotsylvania County Plantation Forest Drive Work is underway to replace the existing drainage pipe on Plantation Forest Drive with a concrete box culvert. Plantation Forest Drive will be reduced to one lane Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Periodic lane closures may occur on Saturdays between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. This project is expected to be complete in late October. Loriella Park Drive Work is underway to replace the existing drainage pipe on Loriella Park Drive with a concrete box culvert. Loriella Park Drive is closed at the culvert site located between Leavells Road and Ascot Circle.. This project is expected to be complete in January 2015. Caroline County Route 639 Widening Route 639 is being widened, creating a new left turn lane near the Route 1 intersection. During construction the posted speed limit will be lowered to 35 mph in the work zone. One lane will remain open in each direction during construction. Motorists should be alert to traffic pattern changes in this area. The project completion date is May 2015. City of Fredericksburg Fall Hill Avenue Fall Hill Avenue is closed to all traffic at the Rappahannock Canal bridge until October 31, 2014 for a bridge replacement project. Motorists should use Cowan Boulevard as a detour route. King George County Route 206 The intersection of Route 206, Owens Drive and Windsor Drive is being widened to accommodate new left turn lanes and right turn lanes. Single lane closures will be in place weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Project completion date is December 2014. Stafford County Route 17 (Update) Motorists should be alert to the new traffic pattern on the northbound side of Route 17 between I-95 and International Parkway. Route 17 is being widened from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016. Route 1 Bridge over Aquia Creek Crews are replacing the Route 1 bridge at Aquia Creek, located just south of Telegraph Road. Motorists should be alert to construction equipment entering and exiting the work zone and periodic lane closures. Project completion date is August 2015. Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17 Business/Route 218) Construction is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Butler Road and Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. The project is expected to be complete by September 2015. Staffordboro Boulevard Commuter Park & Ride Lot Commuters should be alert to a new parking pattern in the Staffordboro Boulevard Park & Ride Lot. The newly constructed portion of the commuter Park & Ride lot opened on Monday, Sept. 15. The original lot is temporarily closed for rehabilitation. This is the final stage of the commuter lot expansion project. The project is expected to be complete by late October.
