CIWC Meet & Greet
This month’s Meet and Greet will be held in the lobby lounge of the
Ritz Carlton Hotel
Tuesday October 7th beginning at 10 am.
Meet and Greet
The Ritz-Carlton has been kind enough to
provide a special offer to the CIWC and all
attending members for our monthly Meet and
Greet.
The Ritz Carlton will provide one
complimentary portion of coffee, tea or soft
drink during the time from 10am to 12 noon for
all members who choose to enjoy the buffet
lunch at SPICES. The regular lunch buffet price
is RMB 198++ but we have been extended an
additional discount of 15% on this day.
All guests who choose to just stay for the
gathering time without lunch may order
beverages a la carte and pay individually.
A few etageres with pastries and small cakes will
be placed on all tables with Ritz-Carlton
compliments during the Meet and Greet.
Welcome Committee Luncheon
The Meet and Greet will be followed by the
Welcome Committee Luncheon, for newcomers
to Chengdu, and anyone who wants to stay on
after the Meet and Greet. The luncheon will start
from 12:00 noon at SPICES Restaurant at the Ritz
Carlton. Don’t miss this if you are new in town!
The CIWC Welcome Committee include
Emelyn, Yawen, Kristen and Vanessa. If you
have any questions please send them an email
and they will get back to you as soon as
possible. You can reach them at
[email protected].
Let’s get started again with the monthly potluck lunch!
CIWC Monthly Potluck
Luncheon
The October potluck lunch will be on Wednesday October 8 at 11:30 am at the home
of Corinne Smith at Tianfu International.
Every month, someone else can host. It’s easy - you just provide drinks, plates,
glasses... and all the ladies who have confirmed they are coming by rsvp to you, will
bring a dish to share. It is always nice to meet each other and taste from each other’s
cooking specialties; maybe you will let us taste a dish from your home country?
If you’d like to join the lunch, please RSVP to Corinne at [email protected] and she
will send you directions.

Holiday Bazaar 2014
Mark Your Calendars for November 22, 2014
The Holiday Bazaar is CIWC’s major fundraising event of the year, raising money for local charities
that benefit people in need in Sichuan province. It is also a fun family day out featuring local
entertainment, vendors, seasonal food, a silent auction, holiday activities, Santa photos and games
for the children. Building on the success of last year’s bazaar, which raised 240,000 RMB, we will
again host this event at the Chengdu International School (CDIS) campus on Saturday, 22 November
2014 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
We are so excited about the upcoming Holiday Bazaar, we but need your help to
make it successful:
SEEKING POTENTIAL VENDORS: There are still a few spots available for those businesses or
individuals that would like to sell their food or products or just promote their business. Please send
an email to [email protected] for more information.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
1. We are on the lookout for Silent Auction items. These can be vouchers from restaurants or
hotels, artwork, baskets of goods, spa vouchers, etc. All monies raised go to the charities that the
Bazaar supports.
2. Make your own “country” basket for the Silent Auction. We are asking individuals or groups
from their home country to make a basket of goods that remind you of home to donate to the Silent
Auction. Below are examples of some baskets that have been made in the past. It can be as big or
as small as you would like.
3. We are also looking for more SPONSORS. Please read the attached letter and forward to any
companies or individuals who you think may want to be support the Bazaar. Sponsors receive
various benefits explained in the letter. Please contact [email protected] for more details.
4. Think about becoming a VOLUNTEER. You can join the Bazaar Committee and help organize the
event, or you can volunteer on the day to run a table or activity.
Upcoming Bazaar Committee Meeting Dates
October 15th & 29th at 1 pm at the Bookworm
November 5th at 1 pm at the Bookworm and November 12th and 19th at 1pm at CDIS
