The world can sometimes be a frightening place, and when we move away from God - away from Christ - we are most filled with fears. We can find solace in the God's words when we are at Mass, and the Gospel messages help us find safety and protection in the new order of our world. Often the simple act of giving thanks will evoke a spirit of calm and a spirit of empathy. We give thanks for works from another person who has helped us, and this act completes the circle for a positive relationship. Giving thanks to God can be a most significant prayer in its most unpretentious form. Sitting in Church can be a time when so many of the world's problems fill our minds. The daily distractions from the obligations of work or home can take away from our time with God. Try this prayer: Thank you, thank you, God. Thank you. If we keep our focus on thanking God and "unceasingly calling to mind God's work of faith and labor of love and endurance in hope," we will find that our minds become filled with abundant images of the gifts we have: family, friends, the gift of life, and this day and this moment that you have to spend with God. 2014-2015 School Calendar Counselor's Corner Crusader Cafe' Click here to download the August thru October Menu Principal's Reports to the Parish Commissions The Jr. High Career Fair is coming soon! This year we will again celebrate El Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in the Exploratory Spanish classes. El Día de los Muertos is a Mexican celebration that honors family members that have passed away. We will again construct a school wide ofrenda (altar) to remember love ones we have lost. Students are encouraged to bring photos of family members or friends whom they would like to be honored and remembered. Please make sure the photos are copies, no originals. On the reverse side of the photo list the name of the deceased person as well as the name and homeroom of the student at school so the photo can be returned. An authentic Mexican ofrenda not only displays photos of deceased loved ones but also has some of their favorite food, too. In addition to the photos students may bring in a non-perishable food item that may have been a favorite of their relative. For example, my grandmother loved to bake. To honor her, I may display her photo and bring a box of brownies. All food that is collect to honor our dead will be boxed up and donated to Incarnation School's canned food drive. 5K Walk to Benefit Mrs. Hurley & The Women's Cancer Center Join us at 1:00 on November 9, 2014 at the Activity Center (behind Incarnation) for a 5K to benefit Mrs. Hurley and patients at the Women's Cancer Center. CYO Golf End of Season Wrap Up The Incarnation Golf Team had a great season. Thank you to the 55 kids who participated in the program and their families for their support of the program. The "end of the season" banquet was a huge success. One hundred and fifty (yes 150 kids and parents) people were in attendance to witness and play "beat the pro" from 80 yards, a chipping contest, prepared by the Alter boys varsity team, break a real glass panel in "The BIG BREAK" challenge, a 9 hole putting contest, and finish with the always popular HAPPY GILMORE contest. A special thanks to our editor each week,Charlotte Kunesh for her submissions to the I-news of weekly updates. The scores for each person dropped dramatically throughout the year. We have a wonderful golf program and the hope is to provide these young athletes an opportunity to learn a game they can play for a lifetime. A special shout out to Mark Lehner who pours countless hours into making the program run very smoothly. He continues to drive the program to new levels for the future. After playing in over 20 matches and going 19-1 with three trophies down at the Middle School Open in Cincinnati, paired with a big undefeated season and a championship by our Girls team, there is no doubt we have the best and deepest golf program in Southwest Ohio. Thank you again for a wonderful season and we look forward to a bright future and many younger kids signing up to begin their Incarnation experience with the great game of golf.
