PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS ON OCTOBER 14
If you work or volunteer in family literacy, ELL, ABE instruction, inmate
education, or community-based organization or literacy programs, or if
you are a GED/HSED examiner, administrator, educator, workforce
partner or disability specialist – this exciting educational opportunity is for
you!
To meet everyone’s diverse needs, this year we’ve reorganized the
conference a little bit. On Tuesday, October 14th, the “pre-conference”
will begin and will be exclusively for WTCS Team Teaching and school
districts that offer GEDO#2. We will begin at 8:30 a.m.
On Wednesday, October 15th the two-day conference begins at 8:00
a.m. with the GED/HSED State Update as we celebrate all that was
accomplished in 2013. The rest of the day will focus on GED/HSED and
ABE/ELL legal, informational, educational, and administrative topics for
administrators, examiners and teachers. We intend to have nationallyrecommended trainers on this day to provide further ideas on teaching
students how to succeed on the new GED.
Conference sectionals will continue on Thursday, October 16th and will
include various instructional, student-related and programmatic topics in
the areas of adult basic education, high school credential instruction, and
ELL instruction. In addition, Wisconsin Literacy Inc. members and other
local providers will provide two full days of sessions designed to meet the
needs of community-based and volunteer literacy organizations.

Lunch will be included each day, and our exhibit hall vendors will be
available on the afternoon of October 14th and all day on October 15th to
share the best and most current goods and services available to meet your
professional educational needs.
