National rankings
Two College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin
(CCIW) teams were ranked in the D3football.com
top 25 on October 18. North Central placed 12th,
while Wheaton was 17th. Additionally, Wheaton was
ranked 11th, followed by North Central in 12th in the
American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Top
25 poll on October 20.
CCIW news & notes for October 20
• Elmhurst senior quarterback Joe Camiliere (Sugar
Grove, Ill./Kaneland) earned CCIW Offensive Player
of the Week honors after he accounted for 307 yards
of offense during the Bluejays’ 28-0 win over North
Park on Saturday. He completed 17-of-24 passes for
262 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 45
yards on 10 carries and one rushing TD on an 11-yard
run. His 262 passing yards were a career-high.
• Wheaton junior linebacker Mikey Swider (Wheaton,
Ill./North) was named the CCIW Defensive Player of
the Week as he led the Thunder with 17 tackles (nine
solo) during a 28-3 win at Millikin on Saturday. His
17 tackles were the most in the CCIW on Saturday
and the Big Blue’s three points was the fewest scored
by Millikin against Wheaton since 2010. Sophomore
quarterback Johnny Peltz (Wheaton, Ill./North) was
13-of-23 for 156 yards and one touchdown pass and
also ran for 93 yards on 20 carries and one TD.
• North Central freshman kicker/punter Dom Zavaglia
(Maryville, Ill./Collinsville) was named the CCIW
Special Teams Player of the Week after he tied the
North Central single-game record for field goals
made during the Cardinals’ 53-23 win over Carthage
on Saturday. He was four-for-four with a long of 39
yards and five-for-six on PAT attempts. Zavaglia also
finished with three punts for 121 yards (40.3 yard
average) with a long of 45 yards. Senior cornerback
Jordan Dean (Elgin, Ill./H.S.) had a career-high eight
tackles, recorded his first sack, forced a fumble and
had an interception.
• Augustana senior cornerback Ben Fornek (Batavia,
Ill./H.S.) had seven tackles (three solo) and an
interception during the Vikings’ 7-2 win over Illinois
Wesleyan on Saturday. His interception came in the
fourth quarter immediately after the Titans blocked
an Augustana field goal attempt. The Vikings only
allowed 111 rush yards in the game.

• Millikin junior wide receiver Brady Cufaude (Pekin,
Ill./H.S.) caught six passes for 87 yards against
Wheaton on Saturday. Matt Madrigal (Joliet, Ill./
Joliet Catholic) and Jake Gates (Mattoon, Ill./H.S.)
each had 12 tackles apiece for the Big Blue.
• Carthage freshman wide receiver James Cobbs III
(Urbana, Ill./H.S.) led the Red Men with 89 yards on
four catches against North Central on Saturday. He
leads the team with 478 receiving yards in six games
this season.
• North Park senior running back Drew Walkington
(Woodstock, Ill./H.S.) led the Vikings with 65 yards
on 18 carries, while teammate Anthony Burton
(Round Lake, Ill./H.S.) caught four passes for 78
yards against Elmhurst on Saturday.
• A tackle for loss in the end zone by Illinois Wesleyan
sophomore linebacker Sean Garvey (Glenview, Ill./
Glenbrook South) earned the Titans a safety against
Augustana on Saturday. He finished with eight total
tackles and two tackles for loss. Connor Klein (Park
Ridge, Ill./Maine South) led the defense with 11
tackles.
