Before the installation, remove the safety catch on the left and on the right! Installation of the lining of the fire-box (see drawing, page 3): Note: The parts to be built-in are provided with labels with short descriptions. 1. Mounting of the 1st row: first the rear central brick (with the upper slot directed backwards), next the rear bricks at the left and at the right (with the slots directed backwards), and the front bricks. 2. Insert the lower bricks 1, 2 and 3. 3. Insert the ash-pan (5) and the grate (9). 4. Mounting of the 2nd row: Rear bricks and lateral bricks. 5. Mount the insulating brick (16) and the return draft board (10 +21). Installation of the insulating brick: Insert the short edge of the insulating brick (16) into the upper metal sheet slot (see the drawing) and let it fit into the lower metal sheet slot. Installation of return draft boards: Insert the return draft board (10) slantwise (with chamfered edges in the rear) and lay it on lateral metal sheet angles; subsequently, lift the front edge and lay it on the holding metal sheet. Important: Insert the return draft board (10) forwards up to the stop! Insert the lower return draft board (21) backwards up to the stop! Important: After cleaning the appliance, and/or before bringing it in operation, it is necessary to check whether the return draft board is in correct position (see the drawing). Suitable fuels: For the combustion in your fireplace stove, the following fuels are approved (see also the chapter 5.1.): Dry, well-seasoned wood left in natural state, and wood briquettes according to DIN 51731. Description of the conduction of combustion air: The conduction of the combustion air in the fireplace insert Opus II 186.8 is divided into three sections: The primary air is adjusted by means of the air controller (11): the primary air I flows through the grate (position of the lever on the right), and the primary air II passes at the sides (positions of the lever on the right) or centre. The secondary air for cleaning of the glass and additional combustion is optimised for the fireplace stove, and adjusted fixedly in order to increase the comfort. The pre-heated secondary air emerges at the upper end of the glass (8). Position of the controller on the right centre on the left Primary air I open shut shut Primary air II open open shut Use: for ignition and stoking of fuel normal operation for maintaining the fuel in glowing state only Connection of combustion air: When operating the fireplace insert in airtight buildings, a reduction of contents of oxygen can occur at the place of its location, and therefore, sufficient ventilation must be secured. For such a case, the fireplace insert Opus-II 186.18 offers you the possibility of external suction of combustion air, thus operating the fireplace insert independently from the air in the room. For this purpose, the combustion air must be connected to the neck (18) by means of a flexible hose. The end of the air channel must be located outdoors or in a well-ventilated room in the building. The operation of the fireplace insert in combination with the operation of air-conditioning equipment is permitted. In case of installation of the fireplace insert in combination with controlled ventilation of the living space, the end of the channel for input of air must not be located in an area connected to the associated air-conditioning system. The amount of fuel and adjusting of the combustion air controllers: For ignition and heating in the appliance, see the chapters 5.4, 5.5 and 5.6 in the Operation Manual. For the operation of air controllers, please use “cold hands” or the glove included in the delivery Prior to each stoking, the air control system must be closed completely (lever in the position "on the left"). Fuel maximum amount of fuel Primary air, air controller Secondary air (without control) Block wood 2 - 3 logs (about 2 – 2,5 kg) Wood briquettes 1 wood briquette (2 kg) Leave open for a period of 10 minutes (slider on the right); afterwards, transfer the slider to its central position open Hint for burning of wood: After each first ignition in the appliance, leave the air controller in the position "on the right", until the fuel starts burning lively (about 10 minutes). When stoking the fuel, please close the air regulator, as indicated (the time data can vary slightly in dependence on the draft or pressure).
