Stokman repeats as champion

C-I graduate, was team captain,
MVP, MIAC All-Conference and AllAmerican in 1990 at Concordia.
Fellow Cobber Lindsay was also Allconference and All-American, marking the first time fellow line mates
were chosen. The duo made up 2/3
of the All-American defensive line in
1990. Gindorff was inducted into the
Crosby-Ironton Hall of Fame in
1995.
Gindorff honored by Concordia
Football Hall of Fame
Mike Gindorff, a 1987 C-I
graduate
and
current
teacher/head football coach,
was honored by Concordia
College in Moorhead over the
weekend by being named to
the school’s Hall of Fame.
“I was very humbled by the
whole ordeal,” Gindorff noted.
“ To be honored by my high
school and now Concordia, it
is just a great feeling of appreciation for all the hard work
and dedication. To be put into
the Hall with one of my best
friends from college was just
the icing on the cake. My
coach presented the award to
me and to be able to accept it
with two teammates is really
an honor.”
Gindorff graduated from
Concordia in 1990 in his senior
season was named team captain, chosen the team’s Most
Valuable Player and earned
Minnesota
Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference Player of
the Week honors while leading
the Cobbers to the 1990 conference championship. Gindorff
also received the Mike Stam
Award as the league’s outstanding lineman. He was selected
the MIAC All-Confernece First
Team as a defensive tackle and
went on to partner with teammate Shayne Lindsay in earning All-American honors. It
marked the first time two
defensive linemen on the same
team were voted to the most
prestigious award in college
athletics.
Gindorff amassed 256 tackles in his career anchoring a
solid Cobber defensive line.
After graduation, Gindorff
signed free agent contracts to
play professionally with the
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and
Minnesota Vikings of the
National Football League, the
Frankfurt Galaxy of the World
League of American Football
and the New Mexico
Rattlesnakes
of
the
Professional Spring Football
League.
In 1995, Gindorff was
inducted into the CrosbyIronton High School Hall of
Fame and was also named to
the Brainerd Daily Dispatch
All Century high school football team in 2000.
Gindorff currently resides in
Crosby, teaching biology and
coaching football.

country teams ran in the MidState
Conference
Meet
Thursday
and
Margaret
Stokman defended her MidState Conference title with a
first place finish to lead the
Rangers.
Stokman finished in 15:59
and Molly McCusker was
fourth in 16:20. Ari LeMieur
placed eighth in 16:53 while
Naomi Ringhand was 22nd in
17:44 and Annie Goodwin was
23rd in 17:53. Miranda Berg
placed 29th in 18:18 with Ella
Dwyer placing 32nd in 18:30.
Lauren Peterson placed third
in the junior varsity run in
18:44.
Park Rapids won the team
title with 49 points, followed
by C-I with 58 points. Other
team finishes included Pequot
Lakes, 74; Detroit Lakes, 84;
Wadena/Deer Creek, 128;
Long Prairie-Grey Eagle, 134;
Staples/Motley, 163.
Caden Johnson placed 43rd
for the varsity boys with a time
of 24:25.
In the junior high girls’ run,
Makayla Jones placed third in
11:47, while Megan Erickson
was 15th in 13:48 and Maddie
Nierenhausen was 17th in
14:23.
The boys’ junior high team
placed first, led by Griffin
Severson with a second place
finish in 9:30 and Seth
LeMieur in third with a time of
9:43. Sam Roberts placed
fourth in 9:48 and Ethan Cady
was fifth in 9:50. Tucker
Ringhand placed ninth in 10:00
and Sam Smith was 19th in
11:15. Noah Coughlin finished
VOLLEYBALL
C-I falls to Hill City, 3-0
The Crosby-Ironton varsity
volleyball team lost to visiting
Hill City Thursday, 0-3.
The Rangers fell in the first
set, 15-25 and then dropped
the second, 12-25. C-I lost the
third and deciding set, 13-25.
Kaitlyn Johnson had four
kills to lead the Ranger attack,
while Jami Nelson added 10
digs and seven set assists. Sam
Gutzman tallied 14 digs to
pace the locals.
C-I, 9-16 overall, wrapped
up the regular season at Pequot
Lakes yesterday (Tuesday).

Lauren Peterson have been named as this
year’s captains for the Cross Country team.
FOOTBALL
The fourth-ranked CrosbyIronton varsity football team
improved to 7-0 following
Friday’s 48-8 win at Rush City.
The Rangers marched down
the field on their first possession and scored on a Noah
Gindorff 13-yard run and then
Gindorff hit Brady Tesdahl for
the conversion and the rout
was on. Ben Jordan scored the
second touchdown on a 22yard Gindorff pass, but the run
failed, making it 14-0 after the
first period.
Jake Larson scored on a
one-yard run and Gindorff hit
Tesdahl for the conversion.
Tesdahl then hauled in a 10yard touchdown pass from
Gindorff and Daniel Hudrlik
ran in the conversion to make
it 32-0 at the half.
Tesdahl scored his second
touchdown of the night in the
third quarter on a seven-yard
Gindorff touchdown pass and
Hudrlik ran in the conversion.
Hudrlik scored a rushing
touchdown from four yards out
and Gindorff ran in the conversion to make a 48-0 lead. Rush
City scored a late touchdown
on a six-yard run and passed
for the conversion to make the
final, 48-8.
“Jake ran hard all night and
very seldom went down on
first contact,” Coach Mike
Gindorff praised. “ The offensive line played very well and
defensively, we kept them offbalance all night. We kept the
mistakes to a bare minimum
and held control all night.”
Larson paced the ground
attack with 211 rushing yards
on 23 carries and Hudrlik
added 85 yards on 12 rushes.
Gindorff finished with 66
yards on 10 carries.
21st in 11:21 and Sam LeMieur
placed 30th in 14:24.
The Rangers closed out the
regular season yesterday
(Tuesday) at Proctor.
