Course details
Are you ready to become a beauty therapist, beauty salon manager or to open your own salon? Then achieve your
dream with the Diploma of Beauty.
This program provides you with the skills and knowledge to perform advanced facials, a range of spa treatments,
how the skin works, anatomy and physiology, and the advanced management skills you will need in this absorbing
career.
To achieve this qualification you will need to complete:
Core Competencies: 22
Elective Competencies: 11
Further Study: Short courses in cosmetic tanning and pierce ears. A higher level qualification not currently
offered at TAFE Queensland East Coast.
Career prospects:
Work would be undertaken as skilled beauty therapists in salons, spas and the wider beauty industry. Own and
operate your own salon. Work in a salon, day spa, pharmacy or on a cruise ship.

Orientation: Friday 30 January, 2015. 9:00am - 12:00pm. Lecture Theatre
Timetable: Tuesday, Wednesday, Fridays. 9:00am - 5:00pm

HERVEY BAY
Delivery: Face to face
Orientation: Completed on the first day of class
Timetable: Group 1 - Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8.45am to 4.30pm plus one day of study at home
Group 2 - Wednesday from 1.00pm to 4.30pm, Thursday and Friday from 9.00am to 4.00pm plus one day of study
at home

BUNDABERG
Delivery: Face to face
Orientation: Completed prior to commence class

Please note that students are required to complete a 1 day practical session at the Mooloolaba Day Spa for
assessment purposes. More information regarding dates will be communicated during the course

Uniform: Students are required to wear a black uniform, - black shirt, black pants or skirt, black enclosed shoes
HERVEY BAY & BUNDABERG
Uniform: Black or white skirts/pants, TAFE Hair and Beauty Shirts (approximately $35.00) or Beauty Tunic
(approximately $60.00) and shoes must be closed toe, hair must be tied back, and wear only minimual jewellery.
KITS (Must be with you first day of class)
Waxing: 1 professional pair of tweezers
Manicures and Pedicures: 1 red nail polish, a French kit (including a soft French pink and white), and base and
top coat.
Makeup: (Required for first day of Make Up Block)
Make Up Brush Kit (must contain all of the brushes on the material list, please refer to the material list for
further details) Can be purchased online or at any salon supplier/stockist.
4 sets of false eyelashes (2 sets of individual and 2 sets of strip false eyelashes)
Camouflage kit if enrolled (explained during orientation)

Recommended: Year 12 or equivalent
