LECTURES I: Experiences and trends in land
surveying in foreign countries
The land surveying day, with a very long tradition in Slovenia, is this year
dedicated to the perpetual dilemma of the geodetic surveying profession.
The central topic of the 43rd Slovenian Land Surveying Day explores the
challenges of the geodetic surveying profession which has in developed
countries become an essential element in economic development and the
society as a whole; besides the standard lines of action it also takes on the
main role of developing the spatial data infrastructure, which is nowadays
placed alongside other important infrastructures, such as transport and
telecommunication.
The fast development of new technologies on the one hand and the
overall social development on the other have brought many challenges
and opportunities to the surveying profession, the state, local communities,
and other stakeholders – this professional conference is for all of them. The
Slovenian Land Surveying Day is an excellent opportunity to encourage a
broader professional discussion.
