Homeschool Resources with OTHER RESPONSES in Regards to the Common Core Standards I was unable to place these companies – listed in one of four extra categories below – onto any of the main lists. Instead, please note the special descriptors for each extra category here. A few companies replied to my queries indicating that they each need more time to formulate an official position in regards to the CCS/NexGen. They have promised to get back to me when they are able to provide information about how they will proceed: 1. Artios 2. Breaking News English 3. Geography Academy (Global Press) 4. Green Scholars Initiative 5. Portraits of American Girlhood (Units Unique) A handful of companies opted not to provide information to me, indicating instead a desire to speak only with individual parents about their positions relative to the CCS/NexGen: 1. Bramley Books 2. Christian Schools International 3. Knowledge Quest 4. La Clase Divertida 5. Live Online Math 6. Mama's Learning Center 7. Pandia Press 8. Sevenstar Academy 9. YMCA When contactng any of these companies, I recommend asking all of the following questons in order to help you discern the status of their products: • Have you already altered any materials - in whole or in part - for the purpose of aligning with the CCS/NexGen? If so, which materials? What, specifcally have you changed? • Do you have future plans to alter any of your materials in order to align with the CCS/NexGen? If so, which materials and what specifc changes are you planning to make? When will you make the changes? • If you haven't made any content changes, have you instead chosen to correlate to the CCS/NexGen? That is, have you created public/advertsing documents showing where your products - as writen - happen to match partcular aspects of the CCS/NexGen? • Even if the materials that you actually write/create do not align, do you use any resources from other vendors to supplement your products? If so, which products/companies? Are you aware of those companies' positions relative to the CCS/NexGen? * If you learn that a company supplements with resources from other vendors, you can check this site's lists to learn whether or not those resources are independent of, correlated to, or aligned with the CCS/NexGen. Copyright 2014: Tina Hollenbeck A few companies have stated that they are not interested in sharing their positions, either with me or with other individual parents: And, finally, some companies were contacted multiple times - at least seven (via email and also, when possible, by phone and/or through Facebook) over the course of several months – and did not respond to any query. I cannot speculate as to why they've chosen not to reply, and I have no discernible way of knowing their positions on the CCS/NexGen. I welcome any response any of these companies may choose to provide at some point in the future. However, I believe I've given ample opportunity for each to respond and will not be sending additional queries: Copyright 2014: Tina Hollenbeck 1. BibleWriter (Kirsten Joy Torrado) 2. Bricks4Kidz 3.
